Thanks everyone! It kinda screws up my plans for a suprise Sept 2012 trip, but I'll be okay with that.

Possible due date is May 4th, aka Star Wars Day. My wife has already given me permission to give the child a Star Warsy name if he/she is born on that day. I'm hoping for a boy so we can name him Chewbacca James.... :chewy:

I understand that second picture now that we've had that explanation, but I'm still trying to figure out what the otter has to do with anything.:confused3

It's just a singular otter...AN otter, if you will. And with my penchant for puns, it would make sense that if we already had one, this would be AN OTTER one.

:thumbsup2 Great name!

Here's hoping that all you Mid-Atlantic and Northeastern guys are OK:thumbsup2

12 days to the world for us...may actually leave a day early and hit Sea World or something....

I guess we'll see how BWV works for us:rotfl2:

‘Morning all…

Chewbacca James.... :chewy:

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Congrats to TL… there certainly appears to be something in the water up that way (Oh, and nice work on the puzzle… it took me a bit to work it out, but that’s the point of a good puzzle).

Glad to hear that most everyone on the coast line weathered the storm is good order. I knew once it came ashore in mid NC, that the thing would tear itself apart and y’all would be spared a lot of the serious winds, but the flooding is going to remain a problem for the next several days :headache:. Y’all take care up that way.

Oh well… I guess that I need to get back to work (unless some one can come up with a plausible reason why I need to be somewhere else).

Later on…

...TL

Congratulations TL!

Glad all you east cost dads are safe, and it is definitely Monday and a new school year. Kids have managed to pick up the first illness of the year already. :headache:

You did the right thing. You did the right thing. ;)

Absolutely. Also, second daughter was born in 2007. I feel I have done my part. It's up to you now...

Home from spending the weekend with the in-laws in Iowa. No hurricane, but our own misadventure. I'll post details later.

Weekend at the in-laws in Iowa? How could anything possibly go wrong? :lmao:

Morning dads...

Is it Monday already?

I asked for an extension for the weekend from the National Weekend Authority, but did not hear back before leaving for work this morning.

Congratulations on your OlympianCutpurseMarineMammalSluggerTVNetwork!

I'll help out. According to his comment on his wife's FB page, the second pic is a "Halfling thief", so a halfling, which kinda sounds like "having"...

Sidenote: Just got off the phone with my recruiter. I have my phone interview tomorrow. Apparently they're interviewing 6 people or so tomorrow, and the only person the company wanted to talk to my recruiter about was me. :woohoo: Now, I just have to work on my answers for the questions I think they're going ask me...

Good luck! Will send good thoughts your way!:goodvibes

As for TL's picture... I think I pieced together the message - but still haven't figure it out.

If that makes sense.

If so Congrat's TL.

I felt the same way, missed the middle two items, but pieced it together with one and four... Congrats TL!!!

do they have television in wisc.??? read a book, play a board game perhaps?? :lmao:
Oh yeah, we've got TV. 3 channels, even. But you have to get up, turn the knob and adjust the tinfoil on the rabbit ears if you want to watch something else. So it's just easier to stay on the couch and entertain yourself in other ways.

I didn't get around to mowing yesterday. That stump was about 4' diameter and more stubborn than i thought it would be. I ended up tearing up an area of the yard bigger than the garage.:rolleyes1 It was fun though.:thumbsup2
Clearly this was a situation where the rule of thumb should have kicked in. I.E. if the stump is bigger around than your thumb, load it up with dynamite and make it go boom.

When the word chop is used in reference to cutting wood it tends to make me think someone is using an ax. Please tell me there was a chainsaw in use.
Or dynamite!

Hey Mark, are you still essential today or is it business as usual?
:thumbsup2

Monday? I've got three hours till it's Tuesday...

See if you can get me some lotter numbers, or sports scores. ;)

I understand that second picture now that we've had that explanation, but I'm still trying to figure out what the otter has to do with anything.:confused3

Now I get it.

See, I thought the otter was a beaver.

So I read it as "a damn" but now that I realize it's "an otter (other)" I feel much better about it.

See, it was the same message, but a very different attitude about it.

Again, congrat's TL.

:lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

Yes... dynamite is always fun.:thumbsup2

However, when the stump is about 40 feet from your living room and maybe 20 feet from your garage, that may be one of the few situations when a big explosion isn't the best answer.:confused3

No, my days of being important and necessary for the survival of humanity are over. Back to peon status for me.

I like it! But given this thread, doesn't Ackbar have to be in there somewhere?

Wow, it must be a Monday. You guys don't even have the energy to pile on with witty insults.

You can give your wife the house re-model she always wanted! :thumbsup2

Congrats, Patrick! :cool1: Like my nemesis, Steve, it took me a bit...

Wait, isn't the National Animal of Canada the Proud and Noble Beaver? Shouldn't you know the difference?

Welcome back!

You already know what happened over my weekend. I'll post the long form here later for everyone to enjoy.

OK, so here's the short version of the weekend in Clear Lake, Iowa story.

I worked from home on Friday, we picked up Squeaker from preschool first, then the Bug from school, and immediately hit the road. The drive up was uneventful. The kids didn't nap in the car at all (we'd hoped that Squeaker, at least, would sleep some, since he hadn't napped at all at school). Instead they watched movies - Megamind and The Incredibles. We stopped for dinner in Bethany, Missouri at a place called Camaro's Family Steakhouse Buffet. I partook of all four food groups: steak, fried chicken, fried shrimp, and BBQ pork ribs and enjoyed feasting on all of God's creatures equally (well, actually, the ribs were the best part).

We got into Clear Lake later than we'd hoped - after 10 p.m. The kids were too amped to go to sleep immediately, so they got to stay up and play with grandma and grandpa for a bit before bed. Everyone was up and ready to go in the morning, so we headed to the Lake, where my in-laws had rented a pontoon boat (just for an hour, as we weren't sure how the kids would react). They LOVED it (and we did too). It really is a beautiful lake, and it was surprisingly uncrowded on a gorgeous Saturday. A few pics:
