As some of you may know my wife and I are expecting our second child, and today was the day we found out if it was a boy or a girl. I am proud to announce that I will soon be the proud father of a baby boy! I was convinced that it was a girl and I had the perfect name picked out. We were going to name her Marceline after Walt Disney’s boyhood hometown, and the inspiration for Main Street USA. http://www.marceline.org/ Now its back to the drawing board, I’m pulling for Roscoe but for some reason my wife doesn’t like it.:confused3

Congratulations. You could name him Richard Robert and call him Dickeybob.

Posting a reply. Am I a DIS DAD now? I'm from Missouri...16 hours away from the World! Haven't been to WDW since 2008. I am going into major withdraws but our next trip is 354 days away. I began a blog to handle my Disney OCD. Next year this time I should be finishing up my trip. I can make it!

Welcome. Glad you found us.

Well, good news. THE bell sounded today at 11:00. By THE bell, I mean THE bell that sent kids home for the summer. [insert headbanging rocker dude] and .

Oh yeah, and got great news on the soccer front; DS was selected to the classic team that he tried out for. We finally got the confirmation email today after a VERY long week of waiting.:cool2:

So I saw 38 Special in concert last night (anyone remember them?)... They sounded ok, but it was like watching my grandfather up on stage, they just looked really old and were trying way too hard to still be rockers. I was never a huge fan of them, but it was still sort of sad to watch...

Glad it's Friday. Need the weekend...

I remember them. They had a few good songs. I remember paying to see Foreigner and then seeing them in a free concert at the State Fair. I guess that's when it comes full circle.

TGIF....

With the (not so) new forum now, it seems that new dad's seem to puruse around, and post in other threads here, and may not alwyas, esily find the "main thread".

I think we need a process (and it probably has to be a sticky) to instruct the new guys how to join.

And I would actually suggest that we do NOT send them to this thread, as it's predecessor's name indicates, it's the Fastest Moving Thread Around. And therefore a new fathers request (escpeically in the last day or two when the race is on to close) may be lost in the shuffle.

Case in point of a lost request..., I notice Cinderella's Fella pointed him in the right direction today, but he requested May 30th. As well that thread is called "Welcome to the DIS Dad's!" which seems like the right place to a newbie.

Maybe we need a thread that combined the "Welcome to the DIS dad's!" and "Please allow me to introduce myself....".

Something like:

Welcome to the DIS dad's. This is the official spot for all thing's DAD related

Please tell us about yourself.

Name:
Location:
Family Situation:
Occupation:
What you love most about Disney:
Why you want to be a DISdad:

or something of the sort.

Then we can all subscribe to that thread, welcome the new dads, and point them in the direction of our main thread, or invite them to puruse the whole forum.

Just a thought? :confused3

Who's with me?

I've tried to use the threads in the sub-forum and it works pretty well. The challenge of 600+ of us following directions is a great one. Do you dare accept that challenge?

Things are looking up. Found USA network is running an NCIS marathon. May go out to dinner and throw away the last of the leftovers. Will try to check in during the week. Have fun guys, I know I will.

0.9 inches of rain in 30 minutes. We needed rain, but not that much that quick. That was on top of the 0.5 inches yesterday in 20 minutes. Glad I don't farm for a living.

I can’t believe I didn’t think of that. I’ll start calling him Dickeybob and suddenly my wife will think Roscoe sounds good.

Congrats!!

And let me know how this plan works . . . . I'll use it for our next one. . .

Cheers,
Indy

Too bad DW is reading this over my shoulder

Okay, I've got one for anyone heading down to the world soon, or have been there recently.DW and I are trying to figure out exactly how many colours of refillable mugs there are. All I have seen confirmed are the yellow, pink and blue, but I've heard rumours of black, and even purple. There are 4 of us, and would love four colours, if not, I think it'll be a three-way fight for pink with the girls....4 colours means my life is a little less stressfull. If anyone can let me know, it'd be MUCH appriciated....

Is that one of those leagues that you have to take out a second mortgage to fund? :rotfl::rotfl2:

A friend of mine had a son in 'select' soccer around here. Cost him about $8k per season. :scared1:

No score after 2 periods.

That series is turning out to be a lot better than I thought it would be after the first two games.

Giggity. Ownage.

A great night of street soccer. We only had 6 show up at the soccer park, so the other coach and I played defense and let them play 3 v 3 for 90 minutes and lots of water breaks. It was hotter in KY today than WDW.

Welcome to any new dads over the last few days, you know who you are..;)

Well, what has turned out to be a rather beverly week kind of hit it's climax today, as I had to jump out and help out over my lunchhour, because people refused to work, leading to me getting yelled at by an irate customer, because I came and helped. Not at the people ignoring customers, but me. It was the final straw, and before I could cool down too much, I finally broke down and wrote out a short and to-the-point letter to our District Manager (the immediate boss to my boss) with my issues, and basicly, asked to be moved to a new location. DW is unsure I did the right thing, and I have some qualms now, but what done is done. I am generally unhappy, getting angry most of the time, and health-wise, I really can't afford this stress, my blood pressure is not exactly ideal. I've tried not letting it get to me, butno use, I have a love and respect of my job, and the thought of people peanut buttering around while I bust my beverly is too much for me. Sorry I have a work ethic I guess.

End result? I might get moved, I might not, some people wait years for their request to be granted. I am still waiting for the new store comming close to home, whenever that is ( rumoured to be end-of-the-year). I am sure this willhurt the decent relationship between my boss and I, as I went over his head, but after almost two years, SOMETHING should be addressed. He is not here this weekend, so as usual, this go south.Going to be an interesting summer to be sure.

Oh, I thought about just calling in Saturday as a sick day, to hell with them, but after glancing at the schedual, I am actually running the shift tomorrow, so to call in, I'd have to be there to answer the phone:lmao:, at least some of the problem people won't be there... not that being in charge means much, just an extra $14...yup, I can get three dole whips for my hard work.:rotfl:

Hey guys I have a question for you. I am planning my trip from friday-friday so 8 days, 7 nights. I am thinking 6 day park hopper tickets with deluxw dining plan. So I have been trying to figure out I know I have 3 meals per night, but with me reducing the number of days of park tickets.

Would I have 3x5=15(5 nights, 6 days park tickets) or 3x7=21(7nights, 8 days at resort)

No score after 2 periods.

Wooo Hooo...

Vancouver wins 1-0
Series 3 - 2

Co-worker today asked me what time it was in Boston....

12-past-Luongo:lmao:

Was that before or after the other happinings... yikes...

Hey good luck with the transfer.

It's 'bout time they gave you your own store to manage. Oh, and if that happens - I get the "I know the manager" discount... right. :)

It goes strictly by the number of nights at the resort - NOT the number of days on the tickets.

Before the happenings tonight dammit, I need those pool winnings...:rotfl2:

We'll see if a transfer happens, it could bite me in the *** too....and I'll never make it as a manager, I can't afford the lobotomy:lmao:...I am in charge in the sense tomorrow I am the "acting" manager, as i am the most senior person in tomorrow. The !@#$% "assistant" manager was schedualed to work the night shift, but he passed it on, and is not bothering to show. Wow....what a trooper. I feel like an idiot for doing my share.

Heh...no such thing as a discount, even employee. Doesn't fit into our model of "social responsibility", might make one drink more....

I know you're the snow shoveler and the relief bus driver; they aren't going to make you paint the school over the summer are they?

We went to Chuckie Cheese tonight and I tried something I never had before:confused3 Bacon as a topping it was awsome:woohoo:

My wife says we will never have it again since she's been gasping for air all night:lmao:

I've been on vacation all week and it was a little tuff planning stuff to do since my wife had to work and my son's last day was Wed, I don't think I did a bad job of planning stuff and kept the cost way down by using passes and tickets I already have this is what we did:confused3

- Sun - Philly Zoo - Meet up with Randall and Family and had a Awesome time:goodvibes

- Mon - Went to see POTC (had Gift Card)

- Tues - Hit the Boardwalk after dinner (gotta enjoy it before the Bennies are here for the summer:scared1:)

- Wed - Afternoon at my parents pool with my sister and her kids

- Thurs - After my wife got home from work we went to Sesame Place, (since they still have a short day 6pm) we saw Kung Fu Panda 2 at the movies next to SP, had tickets sitting around:woohoo:

-Fri - Bug Museum & Chuckie Cheese

- Sat - will be going to Sesame Place, we are seeing Ralph's World concert, this should be great since we have a ongoing inside thing with Ralph with a picture inside a picture inside a picture this will be the 5th level, with the whole band it will be 2nd level:goodvibes

In my Commando like ways I can't stand staying at home, when I have passes for a ton of things we could do, Ok gas prices might be alittle costly but that and snacks/food & TOLLS are my only expense, (total for the week under $200) I find it a bargin to give my son a adventure every chance I can:goodvibes
