Posting a reply. Am I a DIS DAD now? I'm from Missouri...16 hours away from the World! Haven't been to WDW since 2008. I am going into major withdraws but our next trip is 354 days away. I began a blog to handle my Disney OCD. Next year this time I should be finishing up my trip. I can make it!

Welcome aboard :cool1:

If you blog about Disney, then yes - you qualify.

:welcome: to the DISdads.

TGIF....

With the (not so) new forum now, it seems that new dad's seem to puruse around, and post in other threads here, and may not alwyas, esily find the "main thread".

I think we need a process (and it probably has to be a sticky) to instruct the new guys how to join.

And I would actually suggest that we do NOT send them to this thread, as it's predecessor's name indicates, it's the Fastest Moving Thread Around. And therefore a new fathers request (escpeically in the last day or two when the race is on to close) may be lost in the shuffle.

Case in point of a lost request..., I notice Cinderella's Fella pointed him in the right direction today, but he requested May 30th. As well that thread is called "Welcome to the DIS Dad's!" which seems like the right place to a newbie.

Maybe we need a thread that combined the "Welcome to the DIS dad's!" and "Please allow me to introduce myself....".

Something like:

Welcome to the DIS dad's. This is the official spot for all thing's DAD related

Please tell us about yourself.

Name:
Location:
Family Situation:
Occupation:
What you love most about Disney:
Why you want to be a DISdad:

or something of the sort.

Then we can all subscribe to that thread, welcome the new dads, and point them in the direction of our main thread, or invite them to puruse the whole forum.

Just a thought? :confused3

Who's with me?

Funny thing happened yesterday. DD and I were shopping at Publix for snacks for the trip. As we are finishing and headed down the last aisle, a kid that works there asked if we were done shopping. DD said yes and he grabs the cart and takes it to a just opened cashier. It is our regular Publix and I have seen the kid smiling and ogling at DD. She doesn’t know him and he is not her type (not that she has a type). She gets to pay with her debit card from her just opened checking account.

Without asking, he grabs the cart again and it’s off to the car. I tell her to go ahead and I would catch up. Leaving the store, he is clapping everyone on the back acting cool to show her he is a BMAP (Big Man at Publix). When we get in the car, I’m laughing and she tells me to shut up. She also told me that he said she looked like Fergie. My thought bubble is confused. Sarah Ferguson? Oh, the singer Fergie. Totally made fun of the situation all the way home.
That's hilarious. I wonder if your DD was more embarassed by her stalker or by the fact that her dad thought Fergie was Sarah Ferguson. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Another magical Dis Dad moment.

Carlnix posted on FB that he was going to be at Epcot in England at 7:30 for his DD's birthday. *I dialed the number and my DD (8) spoke in her happiest Disney-cast member voice (yes, we rehearsed!). *"Is this BLANK?", then "Is it your birthday?". *Then our whole family broke into a happy birthday chorus. *Followed by my DD saying, "Have a magical day!"

It was pretty awesome. I think we had as much fun as Carl's daughter!
That's really cool. Fun for your family and I'm sure it made her day a little more special.:thumbsup2

Glad to have you here, welcome to the club. I haven't been on WDW property since July 25, 2008 so I feel your pain. It has been far too long.

Congrats on the new arrival. May I suggest Elias?

Congrats on the upcoming arrival of your son!!! Before you know it you will be coaching Little League and soccer while your daughter is captain of the cheerleaders!!:cheer2:

Congrats!!! We had hoped for the American Dream...you know...nice house, white picket fence, 1 son, 1 daughter.....

Congrats to you and your better half. Nice early Father's Day surprise.

Congrats! Is Walt too obvious?

Congrats! How about Eric or Sebastian (from The Little Mermaid), Christopher [Robin] (Winnie the Pooh), Casey (Dumbo), Demetrius (Hercules), Marlin or Nemo (Finding Nemo), Donald, Mickey, Remy (Ratatouille), Skippy (Robin Hood), Andy or Woody (Toy Story), or Walt.

Thanks for all the congratulations and name suggestions. I hope you all have a great Friday!

Who's with me?

Makes sense to me, though that is usually a bad sign according to DW.

As some of you may know my wife and I are expecting our second child, and today was the day we found out if it was a boy or a girl. I am proud to announce that I will soon be the proud father of a baby boy! I was convinced that it was a girl and I had the perfect name picked out. We were going to name her Marceline after Walt Disney’s boyhood hometown, and the inspiration for Main Street USA. http://www.marceline.org/ Now its back to the drawing board, I’m pulling for Roscoe but for some reason my wife doesn’t like it.:confused3
Congratulations!

Is page 201 too early to start a race to the finish? If so, I'll see you guys on DDC XI: No Girls Allowed. I'm headed out of town for the Pokemon Videogame Championships tomorrow. Will post updates on FB and try for here as well. Wish my boys luck! Win or lose, its a good memory for them and hopefully a good lesson (either about hard work paying off or about picking yourself up after a loss).

Good luck guys! Hope it's a fun weekend. And I'm sorry we won't be able to meet up on your way through the First State.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: Is it ok to simultaneously laugh at this story and dread my daughter reaching the same age?

Congratulations! I think you have to go with Perry. It would be way cool to have a baby with the nickname "Agent P". If he needs a diaper change, you can say things to your wife like, "Agent P has a Code Brown." And when he starts crawling and you lose track of him, you can look around and go, "Hey...where's Perry?" :thumbsup2

Those moments when DD is caught in an awkward situation and you are there to witness... Priceless.

As far as the Fergie thing, I don't know many kids that know who Sarah Ferguson is unless it has something to do with a Weight Watchers commercial.

Good morning good and honorable members of the Disdads :surfweb:

I know that you're not talking to me but MORNING! :surfweb:

and finally, CONGRATS CHILL!!

'Morning all...

As some of you may know my wife and I are expecting our second child, and today was the day we found out if it was a boy or a girl. I am proud to announce that I will soon be the proud father of a baby boy! I was convinced that it was a girl and I had the perfect name picked out. Congratulations. I like Roscoe. One of the many running jokes in our house was that I wanted to name our son Otis (it was a joke, but it kept my DW riled up, so I kept bringing back up form time to time). We settled on Max which has a Disney tie in, a DDC tie it (although I didn’t know it at the time obviously) and is both a strong name and not all that common (around here anyway). My only suggestion would be to make sure that what ever you choose works well with your last name. Seriously… Say it out loud a few times and see how it works on your ears. A week or “mushy” sounding name certainly won’t make for a “week” child, but people are generally far more judgmental then they’d like to admit and having to fight against an unfairly perceived first impression is just an unnecessary handicap that no young’n needs to be saddled with.

Very cool (and a charming little girl as well), but I though every one built Hidden-Mickeys into their school projects. Are you telling me that ain’t normal behavior? :rolleyes1

Good morning good and honorable members of the Disdads :surfweb:

Honorable?
***looks around to see who else you may have been talking to***
Us?

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Congratulations!

I don't want to overstate this but that is AWESOME! Is that your machine? Is that a sticker or a skin? It's nice being among people who respect the finer things in life. Thanks for the picture.

That was actually on the DJ's machine set up at on a stage in Tomorrowland. But thanks to this site (http://www.etsy.com/shop/eDecals?page=1) I'll have one on my machine in a few days. :thumbsup2
