Andy...I thought farming was your work...what do you do? For some reason I had it in my mind that you run your own farming business

Well, it is kind of complicated. I do farm, but I've only got about 225 acres of crop ground and to be able to make enough income to do it "full-time" I'd probably have to have at least 1000 more acres. I work at a local grain elevator as a grain merchandiser for my full-time job.

That said, my dad and uncle both farm full-time with no other jobs. My cousin is very active on the farm as am I, and he has a younger brother who helps us out, but doesn't seem as interested in the farm as his brother. Right now it is essentially a situation where my dad, my uncle and I each own certain pieces of equipment and pool equipment and labor together.

Dad just turned 60 and has had some heart problems in the past and had been limited in what he could do at various times in the past (right now, he's actually healthier than he's been in several years). My uncle is a few years younger, but the last 5 years or so, he has had numerous health issues resulting in surgeries and hospital stays. My cousin, who just graduated HS, and I have been picking up a lot of the workload when one of them is gone. The workload I tend to put in on the farm is full-time, while the income I earn from it is more like part-time. Honestly though, I truly enjoy it, and would much rather be doing those jobs than be stuck here at my desk all day. My cousin is getting a taste of the real world now that he's graduated HS and will be attending school this fall to become a mechanic for John Deere. He had to start working today at the local John Deere shop, so since we're both gone during the day today, my uncle has been given permission to start doing some farm work. He hasn't been in a tractor all spring by dr. orders, so hopefully today goes well for him. When he was cleared after his eye surgery last fall, he tore a hole in his pickup truck bed with a backhoe, so hopefully he really can see this time.

Well, I missed checking in this weekend and I am 15 pages behind. If this video has already been posted, then disregard...

Disneyland + XBox360 + Kinect = Awesome

I have a feeling we might be getting an XBox 360, Kinect, and this game for Xmas. :)

I'll have to show DW this tonight when she gets home...I've made some rumblings of wanting an Xbox for a year or so, but this might make it a reality..

I am truly glad you guys are enjoying the feed!
I didn't see any brain eating amoebas! Just life aging little 6 year olds! Lol

Tonight I will try to find a good spot with speaker for EWP and wishes stay tuned.. Just to let you guys know the Internet in the rooms so terrible that a live feed day and night is frustrating and too difficult to maintain.

Carl, these feeds have brought us so much enjoyment!! We look forward to seeing wishes since missed it the last two nights due to Internet issues here.

That is awesome :thumbsup2. I can only imagine that MK and EPCOT will be next. Gotta work on my negotiating skills to get DW to let me get one of these.

Long day at work. Been up to my elbows in a case, trying to make sure that a miner gets back pay after being fired by an operator for refusing to work on a piece of heavy equipment he hadn't been trained to run. Love it when I find "smoking gun" documents. The operator is trying to claim that they didn't fire the employee, that he resigned. But I found a Financial Aid filing, with a section completed by the operator's HR Director AFTER the employee allegedly resigned, that clearly states that the employee was terminated for insubordination.

I would hope that these jerks insist on taking the case to trial, so I could expose them for what they are in front of the judge. But I'd rather get the miner his back pay as soon as possible (rather than having to wait for a trial).

Ahhh....Trial Lawyers dream of things like that. Nice.

This was recital #7 for us. This year, first time, we had both shows. The older children go 1 to 3:30 and younger children 4:30 to 6:00. My oldest had 4 dances (3 in 1st show) and youngest had 2 in second show. It is just as crazy at ours. To prevent children from being abducted, sign out process is in place. DW helps with that process and said she was called a "c" and "b" mostly yesterday. No police called yet. The recital is in our fancy art center, so I can't volunteer unless I join the dance theatre and help other events (not going to happen). My dds love it, so I guess I'm stuck there another 10 years. And, why do women and men have to wear so much perfume or cologne? Take a dang shower.
looks like dd is going to be teaching 2 tap classes in the fall. ill never get away from it.:lmao:

Yikes - glad you're feeling better. I was up at my brother's farm this weekend and he was telling me there were several times in the last few weeks that he was out planting until 1 or 2 in the morning - plus they have to milk the cows 3 times a day.

Let's not get too carried away here, Dave. :sad2:
:lmao:

DW owns a dance studio and this Saturday is her recital day (2 shows). I end up doing all kinds of tasks so only really sit down to take in the dances that DW, DD, or Dneice are in. It is quite a hectic day but the after party is quite fun and the fact that I get to have normal family evenings for the summer make it worth it. :cool1:

Do your recitals have assigned seating? All of our seats are pre-sold and assigned. I can't recall ever having to call in the police. We are required to pay for onsite security. Usually our biggest issue is whether or not the A/C is on.
they sell general admin. seat only. she would rather have the fighting at the aud. than in the dance studio. she sells out 4 shows, each show is 1100 seats. kid, parent, dancer it dont matter, if you walk into the aud., you need a ticket. we also have a no video rule which is why she needs ushers.
What Barry said. :thumbsup2

Dave, we need to work on picking your trash-talking spots better. You seem to always try to pick on me after the Phillies win, which leaves me going...:confused3

The Eagles are definitely easier targets. :sad2:
when do you think im gonna pick on them, when they sqeek on out????:lmao:all i herd all late winter on tv is how great this team is. talk about :confused3.i realized what im watching, the bad news bears in breaking training!!:lmao: you got the old gm. you got the little smart a*& in the out field and you got two in fielders banging into each other on a in field fly as the ball hits the ground.:lmao: little league 101, I GOT IT!!:lmao: i live in the next town over from bethlehem where the eagles have there training camp. they were all grumblin on the radio this morning if they dont settle the lock out, the local business are going to miss training camp revenue. they have training camp at lehigh univ. just another reason i dont watch pro football, the mega millions fight the millions. :sad2:

Dave your a Usher eeh, I bet Mr Franklin, Grant & Jackson get really good seats:lmao:

Under the right circumstances Washington and Lincoln are probably seated pretty well too.

:lmao: i wish!!! we dont seat people, we just take tickets and hand out programs. when the aud. starts getting full we point out seats to people and try to keep the handi cap areas clear of people who dont belong in them. during the show, we have to keep the exits clear and aisles open. people will sit, stand, perch, shove a stroller in front of a door that says fire exit.:scared1: people are nuts!! we had a lady stand up!!! she just stood up in the middle of the aud. she states she has a problem with her back. well, you cant stand here the 400 people behind you cant see.:confused3 than we have the lady who stands in the aisle. :lmao: we only open the aud. doors evey four numbers to keep the shows moving. shows go about 41/2 hours and thats no solos (except srs.) or duets, this is just teams. its a big studio. theres about 150 on comp. teams and another 250 students. whats funny is she goes over the rules with the parent the last 4 weeks of class. for you to get your tickets, you have to initial that you read the rules. its been not to bad the last few years but like i said, you get some people who think they can do what ever they want.

Sounds like you got them by the balls, so I'd be betting you'll see a settlement sooner rather than later... Good stuff.:thumbsup2

Juuuuuust Super...everyone came home safe and sound, but during bath time, we found the dreaded "L" word...lice in the kids head again....took us almost a month to get rid of it last time. Had to cancel my Brewery Tour/Tasting Seminar from work to SteamWhistle, but I'll live, but not looking forward to the extra work involved here. Kinda worked hard this weekend as it were with housework, now more chores involved. Feeling a wee bit low right now, think I'll tune in to the feed and watch the EWP.......

I've been away for a few days and I'm only 25 pages behind... not bad. I might go back and try to catch up on some of it after I get caught up on TRs. If there is anything of any extreme importance that I've missed please let me know.

I've been busy working on the farm. We finally got some good weather last week and since last Monday evening we've been working hard. I came to work Tuesday and Wednesday and left early to work on the farm until late at night. I took Thursday and Friday off to spend all day working on the farm.

My uncle had an eye surgery for a detached retina a couple of months ago and there were some problems, so they had to redo it. Therefore, he isn't allowed to drive tractors right now, because they don't want him getting jostled around in the tractor until it heals. His oldest son had been working and helping out, but he had just finished HS and his graduation was Friday night. We were all planning to go to his graduation Fri and party on Saturday so I decided to push hard and go late Thursday night and get up early Friday morning to start planting soybeans to make up for the time we were going to be down for his graduation and party. I left the house Friday morning after about 3 hours of sleep and I think I literally worked myself sick. Dad came and took the tractor for me at lunch time so I could go home and eat. I felt tired (obviously) but got home and started shivering (it was 95 degrees.) I made sure to drink plenty and ate a little more than I normally would eat for lunch, thinking I maybe just hadn't been eating enough the last couple of days and went back to the field feeling better. I worked until about 2 hours before my cousin's graduation and by that time I felt absolutely fatigued and my body ached from head to toe. I got home and just wanted to lay down for a little bit, but I was dirty so I just walked in the door and laid down on the floor. DW came home a little while after I did and she found me laying on the kitchen floor, asleep and shivering. I tried to stand up and got dizzy and almost fell down. She made me take my temp and I had a fever, but I insisted on going to the graduation. We got there I could barely keep myself sitting up through it because I felt so nauseous and dizzy. DW wanted to take me to the ER after the graduation, but I just wanted to go home and rest. We went home and I laid down on the couch and slept for about 13 hours. I woke up Saturday morning after a long, deep sleep and I felt fine, but I hate it when these people that want to tell me I need to slow down because I'm not 20 anymore are right. :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Just so you'll know, you're not 20 anymore :lmao: In all seriousness, though, glad that you are feeling better and back at it.

Been there, done that a couple of times several years ago with my DD. And you are correct, it is a ton of work, but hang in there. You'll get it taken care of.

I will probably fall over dead when or if this happens to us....I will just die....I am so paranoid about that, but it does not matter it seems to be a fact of life as kids go through school! Best of luck getting rid of the problem!:hippie:

Carl, I have enjoyed being able to tune in from time to time this week but dont upset your better half...Id hate to read about her going on Lorena Bobbit on you at WDW:rotfl:

Mmmm...Dole Whips....awesome pic, although the guy holding the baby in the background is rather distracting....it just looks funny:lmao:

Hahah, once you notice that guy you can't see anything else! :lmao:

He’s at the 30…20…15…10…5…TOUCHDOWN! And he spikes the baby.

I thought the guy had good form, kept the baby in close to the body so it didn't get stripped running downfield, and, of course, didn't try to run the option...

I dunno DEA...I think one good hit by James Harrison and that baby would be loose...

Big win by the Bruins tonight to make this thing a series... Real chippy, rough game. Fun to watch, with the exception of a brutal hit on Horton that probably knocked him out for the remainder of the series...

Awesome, I won't have to go on Primevial Whril this year since it is closed on refurb till Sept 14:woohoo: I know once my son can go on it we will have to do it a few times:eek: I can't stand that ride:lmao:
