Brian, sincere apologies. How could I mix you with your nemesis? Chalk it up to a brain fart.

Glad you don’t want to talk smack; I feel it demeans the good sportsmanship between fans of rival teams. Except of course in the South during college football season. BTW, have you heard this one: A Bulls fan, a Knicks fan and a Miami fan enter a bar…

I agree McDs is out. Wendy’s is much better.

Apology accepted. Although being mistaken for Captain O... that's mighty humiliating. :rotfl2:

Of course, we have to allow trash talking in football... and hockey... and baseball, no wait not baseball, I'm a Cubs fan.

Morning guys,

Brian,

Here are some choices for the wager. They consistently show up on Top 10 lists. Was going to send this in a PM but thought it could be useful to others that might venture to Miami. A (*) are my top favorites but feel free to ignore to try another place. Probably will have to make it a lunch if that works for you.

Go Heat.

The Capital Grille: Really good place but expensive. Mostly meat and potatoes. *
444 Brickell Avenue, Miami (305) 374-4500
thecapitalgrille.com

2 Chef's: Local to me and have eaten here many times. It is a small place in a shopping center but don’t let it fool you. Well respected chefs and very good food. Thirty minutes south of Downtown though. *
8287 South Dixie Highway, South Miami (305) 663-2100 ‎
twochefsrestaurant.com‎

Versailles Restaurant: Real Cuban (not Bongos Cuban). Political epicenter for Cuban-Americans in Miami. Would be real interesting if Castro dies while we are eating there.
3555 Southwest 8th Street, Miami (305) 444-0240
www.versaillescuban.com

Rusty Pelican: Food is good but people go here for the atmosphere. It is on the water and more laid back. *
3201 Rickenbacker Causeway, Key Biscayne (305) 361-3818
miami.therustypelican.com

China Grill: Another place I like but haven’t been there in a while.
404 Washington Avenue #100, Miami Beach (305) 534-2211
www.chinagrillmgt.com

Mango's Tropical Cafe: Bizarre place on South Beach. I’ve included it for the ahh, ahem, yea, the atmosphere. Check out the Website. By mistake I walked in with DD and her friend when we were looking for lunch. We laughed more than we ate.
900 Ocean Drive, Miami Beach - (305) 673-4422
www.mangostropicalcafe.com

Azul Restaurant: Haven’t eaten here and I am not a fan of the Mandarin but friends like it.
500 Brickell Key Drive, Miami - (305) 913-8254
www.mandarinoriental.com

Morton's, Smith and Wollensky’s etc. We have them here too. Not much different than what is in Chicago or New York.

Blue Door Fish at Delano: Haven’t eaten here but the Delano is a cool place.
1685 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach - (305) 674-6400
http://www.delano-hotel.com/en-us/#/explore/?id=/delano-miami-blue-door-fish/

The Forge: Used to be one of the top places in Miami with an unbelievable wine list. A number of years ago there was a big fire there and destroyed the place including the wine cellar. All sorts of problems getting it back up and running. Haven’t eaten here for a long time and I don’t know anyone that has. Could be chancy when you take into account a hyper-expensive menu.
432 Forty First Street, Miami Beach (305) 538-8533

I would have added Chef Allen’s but they are closing. We could do Joe’s if you want. There are also some nice places in the Upper Keys (Key Largo) but it is a little less than a 2 hour drive from Downtown.

Thanks for this list. I am always looking for a good local reference list for restaurants in the areas I travel to.

Not sure if you are Mediterranean fan, but I went to Maroosh in Coral Gables and this was a very good place. (Also not terribly expensive)

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

I did a little home movie for my daughter once when she was still a baby. I did a bit where she was screaming all night and we couldn't get her to sleep, so I finally switch out the formula for a bottle of Ny-Quil. :thumbsup2

Welcome to all the new dads!

Ny-Quil, huh? When the girls were younger and not settling down, I figured that a little Glenlivet would help. Of course now they talk with a strong Scottish brougue. :rotfl2:

She commented that she got the doctor stitching her up to take his time and get it right, she said her husband commented the doc did a good job on it. We shall see I guess...We all agree it was better to have gotten the cheek, then in the eye.

That's good, it really does help when they take their time and do a good job on the stitches. I had to get 3 stitches right above my nose when I was about 3 and then 4 stitches above my right eye when I was about 10 and they did a really good job with them. I can vaguely see the first scar, but you can't even tell there's a scar there from the second one.

That said, I've got an example on my leg of a half beverly effort at stitching. I could have done a better job myself with a needle, some thread and a bottle of whiskey.:lmao::rotfl2:

I'm glad you have a gold glove caliber LF like Alfonso Soriano. His little misplay last night was kind of helpful! :thumbsup2

That is all I will say about that today.

Mind you, the Doc also commented that if there is scarring, she needs to come up with a kick-*** story to explain it...:lmao:

I would claim some sort of a knife or gun fight with a gang of Libyan terrorists who were upset over stolen plutonium... But that's just me...

After experiencing record high temps last week in the upper 80's I just stepped outside to watch snow flurries falling. :scared1::headache:

So this morning I was reading Ecclesiastes and came across this.

"The more words you speak, the less they mean. So what good are they?"

Just checked the post count for this thread and I'm currently #1. Crap.:rotfl:

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Do smileys count? :confused3

Is that the movie you submitted for "Dad of the year" consideration? :lmao::rotfl2:

::yes:: One of many, my friend. They haven't returned my calls yet.

And each year they try to cancel CHUCK too....seems like it's safe yet again for another season. phew!

Chuck is a great show. But it's basically been cancelled too. It's coming back next year for a short 13-episode FINAL season.

The Lost finale still doesn't make sense to me. I'm so mad about that one.

I still have fond memories of Lost. For the most part, it was one of the best shows I've ever seen. The ending was infuriating in part because it basically made the whole alternate, sidways world feel like a gigantic waste of time.

Apology accepted. Although being mistaken for Captain O... that's mighty humiliating. :rotfl2:

At first I thought this was an insult, but then I saw you were humiliated, so I'm good with this. :rotfl:

Ny-Quil, huh? When the girls were younger and not settling down, I figured that a little Glenlivet would help. Of course now they talk with a strong Scottish brougue. :rotfl2:

Just a wee nip, eh laddie?

Giggity. Ownage.

Thanks for the well wishes for my back. It is feeling better today. I voted in primary elections today and am home with children as school is out. We don't have snow here but it is cool.

She could tell people its the scar from where her evil siamese twin was detached. That was she has someone to blame stuff on in the future.

:lmao::lmao: That's great. It would also help if she had a Delorian or wore a vest.

I think ya'll missed the memo about spring.

Has anyone seen the previews for ABC's new show "Once Upon a Time"?

Article about it HERE

I dunno about this one....

What the Beverly! I just read this morning that the omnipotent TV executives decided it was in their best interest to cancel one of my shows.

The EVENT has been cancelled!

Why do they always cancel the shows that I like?! Peanut Buttering TV networks!

V was cancelled too.

And each year they try to cancel CHUCK too....seems like it's safe yet again for another season. phew!

But the EVENT?!? Why???

Event and V fan here, too. Read yesterday that supposedly they are shopping the Event to other outlets, and may be one of the first Netflix Original Series. My guess is that it lands on TNT, TBS, or Spike. The Netflix thing is cool, but then I'd have to get Netflix.

I think I'm more Peanut Buttered off about Flash Forward. The characters were layered and extremely "gray", an original storyline, plus a Hobbit was the bad guy.

The Event is pretty solid, and the possibility that it will be renewed somewhere else will make me at least finish the season.

And on the Chuck tip, it was stated that it will be its final season.

I love Fringe. Best show on TV,

Cheers,
Indy

I can't really comment on The Event, I never got into it. As for Chuck, next season will be its last, but the 13 episodes is not definite. The network placed an order for 13 episodes, which means we'll get at least 13 episodes. The initial order for this season was also only 13 episodes, but they went ahead and bought the back end pretty early in the run of the first 13 shows. I suspect they'll do the same for the final season, unless the numbers at the beginning of the season are REALLY bad.

Greetings! With this thread, I have found a group that I would really like to join!

My wife has finally acknowledged that I am not fun or happy unless we have the next WDW trip "on the books." (Yeah, DL and DCL also qualify, but WDW is the "home" base)

I meet criteria #1, 2, 4, 8 (BIGTIME), 10, 12 (no kidding), 13, 15 (though mainly my own photos), 20,

alright I just thought about what I was doing and realized that I am a doorknob for making people jump back to page 1 just to see what the heck I am talking about.

Anyway, I'm sure that I am like many of you . . . friends and family text me from the parks to ask what the "backup" plan should be in a rainstorm or heavy crowds. People I know ask me first before making their ADRs, that kind of thing.

I would like to join in the conversation with some like-minded Dads . . .

We don't get down as much as I'd like, but we try to do one family trip a year and one "adults only" trip a year. We started bringing each kid (I have a 12 year old stepson and a 7 year old daughter) when they turned 4, and they can't wait to go again.

I'm particularly into the vintage things - I'm really loving the 40th anniversary stuff. I had the Disney World lunchbox that I carried to school in 1975. And forget Horizons, I'm nostalgic for Communicore!

Have a great weekend!

Ha! Made me look! Welcome to the club! You are member # 596! :thumbsup2

Less than 2 weeks! Woohoo! Welcome to the club! You are member # 597! :thumbsup2

It just occurred to me that, technically, I can join. Don't have my own kids yet, but DW has two from a previous marriage that, while I don't get to see them too often, I have a blast when they do visit!

Hey.... step-kids count, too! Welcome to the club! You are member # 598! :thumbsup2

Hello DIS Dads,

Occasional DISboard lurker and big Disney fan. My wife (long time DISboard member "DannysMom") finally convinced me to create a log in by telling me about a "Dad's Club thread" so here I am. Heading with the family down to Disney World for a stay at the Beach Club in June for my older sons 8th Birthday. This will be the first trip for our boy/girl twins who will be almost 2.

Should be quite an adventure :goodvibes

Regard,

Jim
