I would recommend a Disney Cruise Line vacation for a relaxing vacation, though. :thumbsup2

Where have you cruised to? Any particular length you would recommend?
We just did a 3 night cruise on the DREAM. While there wasn't quite as much walking it was every bit as active as our time in the parks. On the last night we talked with other couples who had also felt that the cruise was no where as relaxing as expected. The culprit there was he cruise length. There was too much stuff to do to try and cram it into a 3 night cruise. If it had been at least 5 nights I think it would have been much more relaxing.

I have to agree that Disney cruises are relaxing and GREAT!!! We did a 7 night Western Route in Marc 2010 and we are booked on the Fantasy for an Eastern Route in June 2012....Personaly I would not want to do less than 7 day...because 3 4 or 5 day would be just getting my appetite up and I would have to go home :rotfl2: By the end of the 7 day you are ready to pack up and sleep in your own bed.

Agreed. Cruise for as long as you can possible afford it. We’ve been on RCCL’s ships and Disney’s ships. Have done 3-day and 7-day cruises and I will have to say, longer is better (even if that means that you don’t sail with DCL **ghasp**). We’re going on a 5-day this summer and I think that will be a decent medium between the other extremes. I’ll let you know if I have a different opinion after we get back. I’d love to do a Trans-Atlantic or the Hawaii cruise that they’re offering in 2012, but I can’t get out of work that long. Our current long term plan it to add a 7 day Eastern on the Fantasy in 2013 (as a graduation present for our DS), and then to start doing couples only cruises on various lines during the off seasons after our boy heads off to collage.

We're doing our first (non-Disney) cruise in July and if there aren't any problems, we plan to book a Disney cruise in 2012 or 2013. Our cruise this summer is a test run of sorts to see if we like cruising and can handle being "cooped" up on a boat for four days.

I've never been a real big "let's go on a cruise" guy. I kinda like land a lot. But it's our 20-year high school reunion cruise and it'll be good to finally get that experience of cruising.

You are right Chris...we always end up losing weight during a WDW vacation :rotfl2:..eat on the run and walk it off LOL

:rotfl2::rotfl::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl::lmao:

Yeah, Disney is an excellent diet plan!

This was shot handheld with a nikon d300s. I believe my wife had an 18-200 mm lense on it at the time. I'll pull the exif data when I get home and send it to you.

Nice camera! Thanks, Ryan.

Looking forward to hearing about your experience. Most first time cruisers never thought much about getting on a ship before, and very often they’re hooked and become cruise junkies. I certainly did. I'd go far more often if I didn’t have to deal with the school calendar (but that changes fairly soon ).

Which Line are you sailing on?

Not sure about you guys, but we tend to eat healthier on our Disney vacations. I think it's just a combination of more healthier options available (fresh fruit, water, etc.) and the fact that those big, unhealthy meals tend to slow you down and drain your energy. We often eat very light al day and then do a bigger meal for dinner.

That, and all the walking, often leads to us dropping a couple of pounds every trip.

We're sailing on Carnival. The name of the ship is Elation. It looks really nice from the pictures we've seen. I'm looking forward to the relaxation.

My friend is like what you mentioned. He had never thought about cruising. In fact, he's terrified of water (can't swim). He got roped into a cruise for his work and said it was the most relaxing vacation he's ever had.

Sounds like a blast (especially since there will be a good number of folks that you know going along). All cruises (like any vacation) are what you make of them. Those that are bound and determined to fret every detail and find fault wherever possible, will be miserable. Being a DisDad, I believe we can safely say that you already know how to find the magic is any situation, so I’m expecting to here great things about the trip once you get back. But beware… Cruises are addictive (you have been warned). Bon Voyage…

I think we're going to have a blast. One sad thing is that our boys aren't coming. One good thing is that our boys aren't coming. :rotfl:

It's our first vacation without the boys, so it'll take some adjusting. But at the same time, it's going to be nice to have an adults-only vacation. Plus, they're going to my mom's house, which means they will be spoiled beyond belief.

Do any of you Dad's have a Zero Turn Mower?

I'm thinking of making the plunge (thanks to my tax return - gotta love those deductions AKA my daughters!). :thumbsup2

Looking for recommendations on brands...etc..

I own a cub cadet recon commercial series with a 60 deck and 27hp kohler engine. this baby will cut a five foot wide path while doing 11mph. and it has a corona holder built in.

I bought it new about a year ago after having a cub tractor type mower for about five years. we beat the heck out of the small mower and it kept on going. I own two acres and there are a few rough spots here and there. I had now problem buying another cub. i bought a zero turn because i wanted to have my son mowing the lawn as a chore. on the small mower his legs were too short to press the pedal to make it go. the zero turn is controlled by your hands only, so he can work for his allowance now.

it used to take me about 4-6 hours to cut my two acres, now i am done in 1 1/2 hours. that's fast.

OWNAGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks....yeah my Dad has a Cub Cadet as well...the commercial series. I've heard some mixed reviews on their residential line...specifically the 42" cut series. I don't believe I'd need anything too much larger than the 42". I walk all my half acre right now...just looking for a way to cut my time in half!

Plus, I just put up a good sized shed in my back yard last summer....so I HAVE to fill it up with something, right?!?

Went and got our Worlds of Fun/Oceans of Fun season passes this afternoon. On the one hand, I'm disappointed that it's not Disney. On the other hand, it was just under $400 for season passes for all four of us to the amusement park and the water park, with free parking included. It'll tide us over for this year.

can someone tell me what is that big round orange shinny disk in our skies???? havnt seen that in all most a week around here.:woohoo:

i started packing the van last night for our june trip!! i still have a long way to go but its a start. i bought my wife a mini keurig for us to travel with. she was very happy about that.:thumbsup2 we are going to buy a plastic tub like thing to carry most of our normal items back and forth. camcorder bag, coffee maker, laundry stuff, rain gear,etc... got all the adrs and eveything done for our sept. trip also this week. now im just waiting on the calander.:lmao:

Question for you. What Apps or websites do you use to stream Park Music?

I've played around with Disradio and Mouseworld radio. Mouseworld's web interface is nice but they only offer 1 channel through their app.

Maybe Firefox is using skywriting to advertise and take market share back from Chrome? Maybe it's some sort of "needs mowing" indicator for people's yards. Can't be sure our sky is giant orange diskless at the moment.

Oh well "Wishes" just came onto disradio so orange disk or not, people in our house are smiling.

Well, busy night last night with trauma... Wish parents would restrain/buckle up their kids. Lots of preventable injuries.

Already had 2 tball/little league games this AM, now the boys are cooling of in the pool.

Scrooge- planning the grand gathering was not difficult. Wdw has a separate number to help you with arrangements. We had 13 (7 adults/6 kids). Dining worked well, we had the basic ddp (1 ts, 1qs, 1 snack), we did 2 character breakfasts (including Tony's Good Morning Gathering with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy which is only avaiable to grand gatherings). We also did the Pirate's league.

Resting up right now, have a movie night planned tonight watching Tangled. We picked up paint your own vinylmations at the outlet as well and are going to do those too.
