Ha!!! I'm throwing a BS flag on this one based on the number of Left Lane Hawks from PA here in FL....:lmao::lmao:

This time of year, and during the snowbird migration, Road Rage is in full effect...

Drives me nuts, if you're in the left lane, and someone is a half inch off your bumper---move over.......quickly...:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Oh, and passing the State Trooper is NEVER good idea:confused3;):lmao::lmao:

FED, is Valdosta a good resting spot for those of us who are not driving straight through? :confused3

Valdosta is a good place to stop....Lake City at 10 and 95 is a little farther south, but if you're early enough you can make it there as well...but if you're late, stay in Valdosta as Lake City tends to get really full, really quickly with Interstate Travellers...

This time of year, I STRONGLY recommend making a reservation as the hotels on the interstate fill up quickly with travellers...

I usually stay in the Valdosta Hampton Inn when I'm over there.:thumbsup2

We looked at those and really liked them. We went with a Nissan Quest. It has the same engine as the Maxima so it can really move, although not as fast as Barry's souped up, turbo charged, nitros equipped, sound barrier breaking mini van :lmao:
It's a common misconception that I run nitro in my minivan. It's actually a homemade blend of cheese, beans, deviled eggs, chili and cabbage. And that's not a sonic boom you're hearing. :thumbsup2

Oh, and passing the State Trooper is NEVER good idea:confused3;):lmao::lmao:
I once followed a state trooper from La Crosse to Madison WI (140 miles). He was doing 80-85 the whole time. I figured my speedometer was broke and must be doing the posted speed limit (65mph):banana:

I'm going to admit this now, because I'm much older and wiser and would never do such a thing now...:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

I **may** have been known to get in the left hand lane of I 26 in SC in my Police Vehicle and go **exactly** the speed limit----I'm not proud of it though:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I have passed many police vehicles that were doing around 2-3mph under the speed limit (though they were in the right lane.) I figure they do that just to see how many people would actually pass them. This usually causes many people to stay behind them.

I usually pass them around 2-3mph over the limit. That's the way I roll. :rotfl:

Yeah, that's a gas bubble, not a sonic boom...:lmao::lmao:

In regard to the WI Trooper---yup, that's usually what happens:thumbsup2:rotfl2:

If you're under, you're fair game.....the GPS Units they're putting cars cuts out some of the hanky panky we used to pull :lmao::lmao:

Thanks Rob - About that time in our drive we're usually experiencing the classic head droop from lack of sleep!

I don't think you want us stopping for coffee at 3am! :thumbsup2

I'll be sure to blare the horn loudly and possibly to the beat of IASW! :rotfl2:

I don’t know… I’m just about foolish enough to meet you at the Welcome Center with a thermos of coffee and a couple of donuts, but you’ll probable want to keep going so that you can be in Orlando as early as possible.

I’ll listen out for IASW on a car horn though. You’ll also need to play that little ditty at Exit-3 in St Marys GA. As much as Fed “loves” that particular attraction, it will give him a real good start to the day. :lmao:

If I wake up screaming...I'm coming for you...:lmao::lmao:

Here in Texas, they are talking about upping the speed limits to 85mph. I imagine they are talking about the major highways outside the city limits. It seems most people drive around 85 in the currently posted 70mph zones anyway, because I will be riding at 76 or so in the right lane, and get passed like I am an old lady.

Yeah - as much as I wish we were spending the week with the Mouse - we'll only be there for a day. We're actually headed to Daytona Beach for the week for our "normal" Spring Break vacation. We've been going there for the last 6 or 7 years.

Nonetheless....IASW it is! Make sure you listen up FED! :rotfl2:

It's breakfast time, anyone have a bacon pic that they could post?:thumbsup2

Behold! the source of all bacon

We bought a Honda Pilot a few years ago (which seats 8 in a car that is not the size of a bus).. While it's not an American company...here's my long winded experience. Apologize now for the welts you will get when your head hits the keyboard.

We had a Ford Explorer which had been nickle and diming us for quite some time...we spend thousands on new bearings because "they just wear out sometimes", among other things. So we decided it was time for a new car.

Our requirements: 1. it had to seat 8 people so we could take a whole other family with us if we were driving somewhere (we have 4 people, so apparently the only families we can be friends with have to have 4 people too :lmao: ). 2. We wanted the full package, leather, navigation all that. We had not had a new car in 10 years...it was time to do it right! 3. We didn't want a minivan.

So that narrowed it down to the Chevy Traverse and the Honda Pilot. I did the online research thing...even going through Costco to get their pricing, and then I e-mailed 2-3 of each type of dealer to see who would give me the best price. That narrowed it down to one Honda dealer and one Chevy dealer. Time to go test drive.

The Honda dealer was closer and on the way to the Chevy dealer so we stopped there first. We were greated within 5 minutes by the guy I had been dealing with on the phone and e-mail...and he had a car set up outside for us to test drive. It was a Touring edition of the Pilot...so fully loaded. Holy cow what a ride. Quiet as all getout...comfortable...and the car just felt solid to us. We wanted black, though, and this car was maroon. We left there while instructions for him to find a black one.

We show up at the Chevy dealership...meet the woman I had been e-mailing and talking with within 5 minutes. She escorted us to a waiting area...apparently she isn't actually in sales. She left us to go get a salesperson (by the way, we had an appointment...they knew exactly when we were coming). 25 minutes later a sales guy finally arrives. Not off to a good start.

They had a car pulled up out front...we walk up to it and I almost laugh. Of the two requirements above, the one they decided was the most important to show us in a test drive car was the 8 passenger side. They took us for a test drive in the stripped down lowest end model they had. :confused3

I felt like I had asked for a Mercedes and they brought me a Pinto to test drive (no offense to Pinto owners). Very weird. We asked him about it...and, oh they don't have 8 passenger vehicles with all the bells and whistles on their lot. Again, I had been dealing with these folks for two weeks.

Oh well...of we go on the test drive. I hopped in the back and DW was the driver (this was replacing her car, I own a very manly truck. Vrroooom!).

the first things I noticed were the seats. While the Pilot seats were thick luxurious looking leather seats...the driver and passenger seats in this car looked like skinny versions of airline seats. They didn't even *look* comfortable. Now I know why the Traverse has a bit more room in the back!

We start down the highway...different driving experience altogether. It wasn't quiet, not incredibly comfortable. Not uncomfortable, it just didn't feel as solid as the Pilot. the guy was chatting us up and found out that we were also looking at the Pilot and spend the next 10 minutes bagging on how bad the Pilot was. He did not once tell us anything about the Traverse.

Here's my favorite part...our youngest son (6 at the time) was with us on these test drives. About 1/2 of the way through the test drive he leans over, looks him in the eye and says "Connor, so which car do you like better? The Traverse or the Pilot".

Connor very calmly looks back as him and says "The Pilot". I laughed pretty hard. Poor guy. I informed him the age-old addage...don't ask a question you don't know the answer to.

So we get back to the lot and I asked about seeing a car with leather seats, etc...obviously I'm not going to make my decision by driving a pinto. He takes us over to another Traverse which is about to go out on another test drive for someone else...the thing is fully loaded. No, it didn't have the 8 passenger configuration....but it was much nicer than the pinto we drove in.

All-in-all, though, the quality was significantly less for a car that was about $2,000 more. Oh, the other thing...when you close the door on the Pilot you get a nice, satisfying "thunk". When I closed the door on the Traverse I felt like it was a tin can closing on itself...with a sound similar to that.

One last thing...on each car they had to list how much of the car was made in the US. The pilot was 70% made in the USA...I figured the Traverse would be much more...but to my surprise it was 60%. Who knew?

I know, I know, the profits all go to a Japanese car company...so that % really doesn't mean a whole lot...and I'm sure there are some very happy Traverse owners out there...so please don't take offense.

But my cheese balls are eaten in a Pilot. And I recommend it. :thumbsup2

DZ

Same here, we've had our Pilot for 7 years now. Good solid car.

So we went from toilets yesterday to car talk today, love it.

I saw that...I find it AWESOME:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

David Letterman, making fun of his driving troubles, a few years ago said...

"I passed some workers putting up the new 70 mph signs on the Turnpike this morning. Well, at least I think that's what it was. It's hard to tell when you're whizzing by at 90"....:lmao::lmao:

Or...at least something to that effect.

Ever wonder how The Dukes of Hazzard would be different if the General Lee's horn played IASW instead of Dixie? :confused3

Every episode would end with the community getting together and pushing the General Lee off a cliff... and there would be something about Daisy.

So you got the Mr. Fusion option?

No, that runs best on Miller High Life, egg shells and banana peels.
I'm not exactly sure if mine if fusion, fission or, for that matter, entirely legal under Department of Transportation, Department of Energy, or Environmental Protection Agency regulations. Certainly not the latter. :thumbsup2
