Hah. Whoda thunk? In the midst of a day of posts about the Dis Dads Podcast, disdads.com, and park recommendations, my 1000th disboards post is about the perils of too much slamdancing. :confused3

Thats completely awesome. My first show ever, my gf of the time was introducing me to Punk. She thought it was funny that I decided to wear my new chucks. Needless to say my feet got stomped on all night, think I broke a couple toes but I just taped them for the next week or two. Oddly, must be a gluten for punishment, I never went to any show that wasnt punk, psychobilly or rockabilly after that.

Obviously, they are interested. Don't sell yourself short and be aware that IF they offer something... it will most likely be the low end of your range. :)

I do get the vibe that they are interested, I have a history with that company, the firm I worked with before works with them a lot, matter of fact, while I was interviewing, I pointed to a set of drawings on the desk and said that I'd worked on that project. Unfortunately, I've been down this road a couple of times, and am over-qualified, I'm just hoping that they're smart enough to realize that an architect working as a cabinet / millwork designer for dirt cheap is in their best interest, even if I do leave when the economy turns around....if the first company that told me that would have hired me, they'd have had me for almost a year now.....

The new MacBook Pro is working out great. I was able to perform a full "brain-transplant" from the MacBook to the new MBP.

The best part is that, though I wish I had been able to confirm this before shelling out for the MBP, the MacBook is back up and running again. The hard drive issues appear to have been merely symptoms of overheating, because of the fan problem. I took my MacBook into the Genius Bar and left it with them. They told me that the fan replacement would run $27 (including tax) but that it would take 7-10 days because they were in the midst of the Spring Break rush (students bringing in computers for repair while they're home from college on break).

Instead, they got it done in 48 hours. And not only did they fix the fan, they replaced the entire topcase (including the keyboard) and bezel, because they had fallen victim to the infamous case crack problem with the older MacBooks. And when I picked it up, they didn't charge me the $27 for the fan repair, even though I'm over a year outside of my AppleCare warranty. :thumbsup2

So now, we've got two working laptops. I'm working on getting DW used to the idea that the Black MacBook is "hers" and the MBP is mine. I do much more computationally heavy work than she does - photo editing, audio editing, DVD ripping, etc. AND I absolutely don't want the new MBP getting brought into the kitchen to use to look up recipes while cooking.

I'll eventually replace the HD in the MacBook anyway. I'll try and hold off for a few months, just to get over the cash flow hump after buying the new MBP, and perhaps replace the MacBook's HD with a smaller SSD drive (since I don't need to keep all of the media files on it that are currently eating up drive space).

Gotta love that Apple Customer Service! We had a similar situation. My wife got a new iPhone 4 last June and within 3 weeks of ownership, she broke it! She said "it slid off of the towel" while she was moving things in her car and happened to land on the concrete. So needless to say the glass that is the iPhone 4 shattered.

We called our local Apple store and they said a replacement would run $210 and we made the 45 minute drive knowing we would pay it. Upon arriving there and after a bunch of back forth between the sales floor and "the back room", the gentleman came out and told us that we needed to sign papers for the new phone. He pointed to the bottom line which read "Amount Due: $0"

We were shocked, and because of this fact, will always buy Apple products!

My DD spent the afternoon today going over our Owner's Lockers box inventories (we have two of them), and putting together a list of things she wants to do, or eat, or play on her birthday. It was very cute. 16 things - several definite YESes, and several MAYBES. Playing UNO was right up near the top of the list... never mind that she has UNO cards here as well. :rotfl:

And playing Checkers, too. And coloring. And drawing. All things she can do here, but for they're just extra special because those things are in our "Disney boxes". :thumbsup2

We love UNO :thumbsup2

We love UNO :thumbsup2

We do too. We have so many different kinds of UNO sets... at least three traditional sets including one from my childhood that has some very dog-eared cards, Princess, Disney Parks, National Parks, UNO Attack, UNO Spin, SkipBO, and whatever kind is in our Owner's Lockers, I honestly don't remember if they are themed or regular. It's always a great choice whenever one of us picks it.

alright dad's, need some prayers, good thoughts and good vibes my way, got an interview tomorrow morning. Been out of work for over 9 months now with only a hand full of interviews in that time, despite hundreds of resume's sent out. This is not a great job, it's not architecture but it's something. Plus, if I actually do get the job, DW promised a Memorial Weekend Disney Celebration.....

This may be late but my prayers are with you

My daughters just learned to play and love that the games seem to take a long time. They have even started developing evil laughs for when they hit me with a draw 4.

BB, for Summit Plummit :thumbsup2

That's a very good reason.

We love both. TL for the sharks, the wave pool and Crush-N-Gusher and the lazy river. BB for Teamboat Springs, the tobaggan runs, ski lift and the lazy river.

I do prefer TL for the shade aspect. The vegetation is a bit more prevalent and lush fitting with the theme whereas BB is a bit more sparse, and with all that white & light blue fitting in that theme, it's brighter and feels warmer from the reflective aspect. So I tend to burn more at BB. DD prefers the Tikes Peak area to Ketchakiddee Creek too.

They're both cool though.

I love how you can play with so many people too. It's very easy to just add another deck and more people can play. Used to have a lot of fun in high school on play rehearsal nights whenever we weren't on stage there would be a bunch of us out in the seats playing together. And if one of us needed to go on stage for our part - we'd simply drop out or hand off our hand to someone else to join in. It's such a versatile, fun game, and yeah, it can go on for a long time too.

Hey I was going to say that I have meetings up in your area next week. Maybe we can meet for coffee?

I'm a little torn, it'll probably be AK because we've never been, but the heat is worrisome, though we are native Floridians and can handle it. Epcot sounds great also, it's a little more familiar to me, but the size of it might be a problem with the kids.

Oh well, I still have to get the job first......

We'll keep praying for you. I'm in Indy, what company is your wife's dream job?

Hey Commish..

I will be out of town at a customers so I will not be able to attend the live draft. Sory for the late notice.

with the Department of Justice.....not sure how much detail I can go into other than that since we are technically still undergoing a background investigation....

I'd like to nominate a song for the Dis Dad's Club, but I guess it would be a song for all the Dis Dads with a daughter. I never heard of Steven Curtis Chapman or this song "Cinderella" until I heard this song in my daughters' dance performance this weekend.

I stopped playing Mario Kart to look it up on YouTube and play it again. Sorry for the link, I don't know how to get the commercial off of it.

#1 thing I've learned in the DAD's Club

When you log onto the computer, and see more than 3 pages of posts that I have to catch up on, then Stopher's been here.

I've got that one on my phone for when I'm having a bad day (at work or whatever). I fire it up, spend 4 minutes with my little angel and the world is a better place.
