Getting sleepy with a touch of
Ownage
Generally, Friday afternoon news is bad news, but today I have some good news to share.
My dad just called on his way home from the Oncologist. He's been enrolled in a placebo-controlled trial of MDV-3100 (anytime your drug doesn't have a name yet, that's usually not a good sign). But on his bone scan today, his cancer has regressed, and his lymph nodes are clear! That means that he is likely getting the drug (not the placebo) and that it is working (for now)
Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers!
Chris
Ok...the jig is up..how did you know it was going to be the top of a new page? There is nothing there that says you edited your post to put ownage on there LOL
Blargh.
Nothing like heading up to bed at midnight, and discovering a pile of kid puke on the bed when you get there.
Apparently, Squeaker went into our room looking of us last night. DW was in the guest room with The Bug (long story, not really relevant here). I was downstairs watching basketball. He said he, "couldn't see me, because it was dark." He puked, and then just put himself back to bed.
When I noticed what had happened, I checked to make sure Squeaker was OK, stripped the bed, changed the sheets, and then brought him into the newly-cleaned-up bed with me for the night. He seemed just fine this morning, so it must have either been something he ate or just too much sinus drainage. Of course, it meant that I was up on and off all night, as Squeaker has this habit of turning horizontal in the bed and "head-butting" in his sleep (for lack of a better term).
Needless to say, I called in and took a day of leave for today.
Is it just me getting old or is there really a decline in the manners of younger people??
Last night at dinner we wet out to Cracker Barrel (fish dinner - Friday Lent) and i counted at least five guys with hats on. My mother would have pulled out her whooping hand and cut that thing off the top of my head.
I also so a couple of young men (late teens) cut in front of two elderly women to the doors which the slammed in front of the women.
Aren't we allowed to pull them back by the ears and make them apologize or something......
Maybe I am turning into a prude

I am new to DISboards, but not to WDW. While perusing this site, I did notice the overall lack of testosterone. I am grateful to have found this little sanctuary.
So about me and mine....
I am 26, the wife is 28, and my amazing son is 3 (Yes, he gets his awesomeness from me). My wife is a teacher, and I am an Infantryman in the Army. I am currently in Afghanistan, and trying to plan a trip to WDW in October, when I get home. It is very difficult to plan a trip to WDW, let alone trying to do so in a third world country.
I have been going to WDW at least once a year since I was 4 or 5. I have seen and done a lot of it, although not all of it. My wife went one time before she met me, as part of a cheer leading program. Our first experience together, we stayed off site, about 40mins away from Disney, because we were broke. Actually, I was broke, she was a poor teacher. I joined the Army after that, and used my signing bonus for our honeymoon (we actually got married several months before going, but our schedules wouldn't allow us to do a proper honeymoon). We stayed at CBR, which was awesome. Since then, we've gone back twice. Once after my last deployment, we stayed at the Beach Club. And last year right before I deployed this time. We stayed off site at my dad's time share with the rest of our family on that side.
Our next trip we will be going in October, after I get back. It actually works out nicely, because I have never done the FWF. And it will be my birthdayBonus! The wife said I could do the drinking around the world. I am very excited.
alright! I have been up since 2:30 am worried sick about my sons wife stationed misawa Japan!.. he is currently deployed in kuwait and his wife was home alone.. according to the news they were missed by the tsunami by a 30 minute drive!I just heard from her about an hour ago.. they have been without power, internet or cell service until now.. she is now in a generator powered building.. soo
she is good to go. I just cant believe that it missed her by that little! like all of you seeing the tsunami rolling in.. and the vortex in the ocean just scared the PEANUT BUTTER out of me! just reminds me of how small we are compared to the world..
disneyland tokyo was hit with ground liquifaction.. but the reports are saying no injuries..
how fortunate we are to be here..![]()
Was that when Carl was missing? If so, he wasn't abstaining from the rope drop discussion. His connection to our Skype call dropped, and it took a bit to figure out how to reconnect him without messing up the recording.
Welcome to the club! Another dad spent last fall at (his words) "Uncle Sam's Sandbox of Misfit Toys", and so try to be safe. Also, CBR was great when I stayed there in 2000.I am new to DISboards, but not to WDW. While perusing this site, I did notice the overall lack of testosterone. I can barely figure out my iPod Touch. IPad is beyond me for now. (I'm saving up for a Epiphone Les Paul and a 10 yr anniversary dinner)Oh...and speaking of good news Friday...
Just thought I'd stop by and rub it in that I'm currently typing this on my iPad 2.
Oh yes...sooo nice
I don't want to take sides, BUT, I'll play devil's advocate anyway. When we were younger (15/16/17) I'm sure there were times when we drove too fast & cut people off. Or not being "rude" but just not seeing someone else 'cause you didn't yet know to pay attention. Finally, while I 100% agree that hats at restaurants are AWFUL, if there isn't an established dress code, there's nothing a restaurant can do. And SOME of those kids, do you really want to see their hairstyles? Is it just me getting old or is there really a decline in the manners of younger people??

The one thing I love about NOT being at Dinsey World.... is a nice cup of coffee in the morning.![]()
I hear ya. Has anyone found a decent cup of coffee in Disney?
Steve, as I understand it this is the model for Apple:
1) Release revolutionary new product.
2) Sell 15 million new products.
3) Wait 1 year.
4) Add $15 worth of upgrades and drop version 1's price.
5) Sell 15 million new products.
6) Repeat
So if you can live without the cameras, I would expect within 6 months to a year, an iPad 1 will sell for $100 or less. Something to consider....
Of course, I could be wrong...![]()
