Too much fun yesterday. :woohoo: I’ve seen the results of a couple of the thread closing melees, but this was the first one I had the chance to participate in. I should probably spend the better part of today actually working (and opposed to what I was doing yesterday afternoon :rolleyes1), but honestly, they’ve had me putting in 70 to 80 hours a week for the last two months, so I think we’ll call it even.

Yeah - darn that Steve for calling Ian, and darn that Ian for taking the prize away from me. Ugh. Let's just call it now people - #7 is mine. :rolleyes1 So just know that now. Ok? OK. pirate: As soon as he did that I felt like a politician and the media - the dumb newscasters calling a race moments after a precint (or state, etc) closes and the counting hasn't even commenced yet... all based on exit polling. I'm sure he and Ian were in cohoots somehow...

But you have a slight mistake there Carl in your stats... #6 was 297 pages, not 497.

my bad sorry type o

Holy Beverly Peanut Butter Batman!

I have 60+ pages of mindless chatter to catch up with? :faint:

And no we cant add them together cause then you would edge me out lol

not to split hairs here but I would give the offical start to Steve, post number 3636 he stated we need to crank up the posts to end it. Christopher however took that post and ran with it!! so Hell I give them both the credit for the start lol

Congrats on the camera and the trip!!! I got my wife a Pentax K-X for Christmas with hopes of a trip to WDW for a large scale photo shoot. My plan worked as we are now planning a trip in Sept. 2012. This will be the first trip for 11 of the 12 we are going with. I am the 1 that has been before and I was 5 at the time.

As for showing your gratefulness, I might suggest a day at the spa near the end of the trip when she has been a little worn down while you take the kids to the parks by yourself.

Oh, I forgot to mention - it is just the two of us going. :yay: Our first trip to The World without the kids.

Oh, I forgot to mention - it is just the two of us going. :yay: Our first trip to The World without the kids.

My wife and I did that 2 years ago and we are doing it again this year. It is a whole new world! Have fun, eat where you want to eat, see the places you wouldnt be able to go with the kids like all the shops in Epcot. Cant wait to take my wife on a cruise without the kiddos.

Three posts on the entire VI thread? That is pitiful. Not to make excuses but I did spend a lot of the thread’s life in the hospital with no computer. I promise my Dis Dad brothers to do better on VII.

Next weekend (not this coming weekend) we leave for a couple of days at the World. That and college shopping for DD. Even though I am not strong enough to deal with the hordes that will be at the parks, I am looking forward to the trip. Staying at BLT and plan to read by the pool and check out the TOTWL to watch the fireworks.

I can neither acknowledge nor disavow anything stated above.

Psst! Steve! Where do I send the check again?

Theduck619 and family are going on these dates: 5/15-5/18 and 11/27 - 12/11

Woo hoo! :cool1:

Got my Post-Trial Brief turned over to the legal tech an hour earlier than my self-imposed deadline. It will be ready for filing in plenty of time. It feels good to have that done.

Now, if I could just get a decision on the case for which I filed a Post-Trial Brief back in December . . .

So now that we have a new home (Thanks Don) I can ask this question. Is there a particular link for the Dis Dad's shirts? We are going for a quick trip in May and I wanted to get one before then. I looked on zazzle and could not find anything related to Dis Dad's.

I know I brought up this question... how many active members are there? I counted anyone who posted 3 times or more as active and I am at 75 ppl. Interesting.

Great idea Tim!

I haven't had a chance to read the other threads yet but I wonder if there is an area they haven't thought of that could kind of be the DisDad contribution to their packages. Do they do anything with Photopasses?

I think our active members might be a little low to raise what you estimated but if we can think of some kind of an ongoing project I would be happy to contribute $5 or $10 a month towards something.
Wish families receive a code for a free photopass CD. But that is good thinking. Any other thoughts?

I'm reposting this because I didn't want it to get lost in all the 'extra' pages from yesterday.....

I was thinking of addressing the group on a fundraising effort. Some of you have followed my PTR and TR of my daughters Make-A-Wish trip which happened December 1-7, 2010. Our family was selected to take part in the BIG Give. What is the Big Give?

(taken from the WISH TRIPPERS THREAD The individual post is HERE )

The Big Give was inspired by Oprah's Big Give (the TV show). It is a group of ladies and men on the DISboards that make custom clothes for families that need some pixie dust. It started with an active DISer that lost a son in a drunk driving accident only days after returning from Disney World. When it was time for their family to go back to Disney, the DISboutiquers made the family clothes to help make their trip extra special.

This first Give went so well, that they have continued the tradition. Now they mainly select Wish Families.

The Big Give is not in any way affiliated with MAW, Disney, GKTW or even officially by the DISboards. It is just a group of very kind ladies and men that just want to bless families that they come to know on the DIS. It is a completely volunteer thing.

The organizers try to include many MAW families that they "meet" and get to know on the DIS.

However, it is impossible to include every family. They have to have a good amount of time to organize it (so if your trip is right around the corner, then they would not be able to do one). And these ladies have families, etc and sometimes life just gets in the way of being able to organize during certain times of the year, vacation, illness, etc, can all factor in to whether they can do a give at any given time.

Anyway...You may see the term "Big Give" in Pre-Trip reports and occasionally on the Wish Trippers thread...and that is what it means!

Now that we have returned from our trip we have decided to join the BIG Give and be a family that sends gifts, toys, gift cards, etc to other Wish families. All of these families are going to Disney and most of them are staying at GKTW. Many of these families are financially strapped because of medical bills they have endured over the years. There have been a few children who passed away shortly after their Wish was granted too.

I don't know if this is getting over my head or how to even organize this but what if the DIS DAD's Club as a whole sent some pixie dust and cheer to some of these families? What if we were able to get every member (easier said than done but..) to throw in $10? We have 500+ members that is $5000. We could send a $100-$200 gift card to these families and could do this for 250-500 families. I am not sure how many 'active' members we have and how many Dis Dad's are no longer even on the DIS?

I haven't brought this idea up to the Big Give organizers yet. I wanted to see your thoughts and to see if anyone would be willing? I will take all ideas and criticism. If you'd rather PM me that is fine.

If you wanted to see what the BIG Give did for our family read HERE (PTR) Post 2 has a TOC that you can jump to the Gives starting with entry #20. It was an amazing experience.

I am definitley up for helping. My daughters and I enjoyed your trip report and it would be a great way to teach them about helping others. :thumbsup2

This work thing is really getting in the way of my fun. I only had 14 posts in the last thread and I missed out on the closing. Glad you guys had a good time with it.

Great job on the podcast gentlemen :cool1:

I listened last night as my daughters were listening to their Tangled story CD and the DW was making our what to pack for our trip list.

We are doing 1900 Park Fare for the first time and was glad to hear some good things about it.
