Amateurs... :sad2:

Tomorrow is my daughter's birthday. We gave her a choice between having a party or doing a day trip, and she (woman after my own heart) chose a day trip to go see the Statue of Liberty. So, we've got all our reservations made (you have to reserve tickets to climb up into the crown) and will be heading up to NJ bright and early tomorrow.

The forecast is for a high of 37 degrees and a "wintry mix". Which I translate to "cold and wet". :headache: So the moral of the story is, don't have kids born in February. :sad2:

I'll try and do a mini-TR after we get back. :thumbsup2

We did the crown thing back in Dec of '09 (when Tim and I were in the city at the same time and we didnt get to have the rose ceremony :rotfl2:)....I will be anxious to hear how everyone handles climbing the stairs!!! Man that is brutal when you climb... ALLLLLL the steps!:scared1:

Beverly! FIL and MIL got the kids Disney tickets for Christmas and are taking them for a week this summer. Why am I annoyed? They got free dining and are in the 180 day window and don't want to make reservations. :scared1: DW offered to make them, but they said they will just wait and see. They are going to end up eating at 9 PM, or trying to convince my kids to choke down the "wurst" and sauerkraut at the Biergarten :headache:.

"wait and see"?????? Are they (excuse the phrase) "WDW virgins"?? Wait and see??? :confused3
Wait and see them not eat!! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

I guess I can *kind of* understand where they're coming from... if they've been there several times, they've probably done the nicer restaurants. Even with free dining they can probably get same day ADR's or walk ups at some resorts or even less popular places in the parks. If you're not paying for the dining plan then there's really less need to get your money's worth by eating the best/most expensive meals you can. If they want the trip to be about the parks and not about the food and rigid schedules, I understand where they're coming from. I just wouldn't want to hear them complain if they expect to eat where they want, when they want and it doesn't happen though.

This is not good... :sad2: Maybe they made reservations and are going to surprise the kids with where?

On a better note (for me anyway), I just booked our hotel for the night before our cruise and get free parking there while we cruise! :woohoo:

DW and I were planning on just hanging out around WDW for a couple of days after the cruise just touring around DTD, and maybe a bit of resort hopping. Last night, I thought about the time of year that we will be going and remembered that EPCOT usually has the Flower and Garden festival around that time. I mentioned it to DW and she immediately asks how much we can get tickets for the day. :wizard:

Now, Where is 1Grumpy John? :confused3 I'd like to hear the opinions from the first Dis Dad to cruise on the DREAM!

Be a good parent and make some reservations anyway. :thumbsup2

Valid point. If they have been numerous times then they might have an insight on to which ones are less crowded as well.

Maybe it's just a generational thing... when we took my folks last year, they chose a couple of times to ignore what we were planning on doing and held firm to their own desires simply because they had had enough of taking advice from the younger generation. Now if their friends had been there giving them the same advice we were - they would have listened in a heartbeat. My FIL is pretty much the same way, even now after several months dealing with cancer. At first he was listening to his kids, but now it mostly only works if it comes from his best friend or his bf's wife. Maybe since they've been before they feel they know what they're doing and could care less about such things.

Whether ADR's or made or not, memories will be made one way or the other, that's for sure.

Yeah, I'm not looking forward to that. On the plus side, we all did the Bunker Hill monument in Boston a couple of years ago. That wasn't quite as high, but was still a monster climb, and we survived.

Well, I could have, but if I had, I wouldn't have set you up to post a quote yourself.

Ah, good point. You're an excellent straight man. :thumbsup2
