CRUD, CRUD, CRUD, CRUD!!!!!
Cleaning up from the Year-End reporting cycle and prepping for the new one has just wiped out my DIS time (and I don’t like it ). So much chatter in so few days. Let’s see… What all did I miss… Well I missed the snow this time around, which is good from my point of view (y’all keep them heaters cranked up out that way ). I missed a flash-mob photo-op (I suppose I really should consider rejoining FaceBook), and I missed the DDC homage to “American Idle” with everyone performing their own rendition of “One Little Spark” (well… it may actually be a good that I missed that one :lmao: ).

Well, down this way the world just got a little bit brighter (in our house at least). My “Lovely” (that would be DW to y’all) was finally able to get back into the workforce. :woohoo: She left her previous position for a fistful of reasons in late 2006 but when she was ready to start back, we ran smack into the current down-turn and there was nothing to be had. The new gig is part-time in the front office of one of the local country clubs, but it could expand to full time in the future. Neither of us are golfers, but as a musician, there may be some interesting opportunities to pick up some side jobs here, and since golf is really more about business then pleasure anyway, keeping an open ear will also be high on the agenda.

(And a bonus… Page Ownage!)

Well, I made it into work safely today... but before we could get to that part of the day I had to take the little man to the dr. because he was coughing and acting sick this morning and found out he has a double ear infection. Looks like tubes will likely be in our future.

It's good to be out of the house, even if it does mean I have to go back to work. It has been a hectic morning playing catch up so far. The roads are still covered with about an inch of ice, but they've gotten some sand down around intersections and curves so it is passable, but not idiot proof. It has just been too cold to get the salt to be able to work on the ice. I probably went through about 15 pounds of salt yesterday just clearing about 20' of sidewalk to the garage. I'd put down a bunch and let it work then bust the ice up with a shovel and reapeat until it finally melted down enough to scrape it off. It is sunny out, so I'd like to think the sun will help melt some of it, but with a high of 18, that's probably unlikely.

When I came in from lunch I made a suggestion to the bossman that didn't go over so well. I asked if we could turn the dumpsters on their sides at opposite ends of the parking lot and get some broomsticks and a roll of duck tape and host the first annual Edinburgh Community Hockey Tournament. He didn't see the humor.:confused3 I personally think it is a missed publicity opportunity.

The sun coming out has actually melted the snow/sleet stuff that was on top of the ice giving it grip... now the rough edges are melting off, but it is so cold it is re-freezing in a sheet smooth as glass. A real good natural zamboni effect.

I'm shivering just reading this. Hope your little guy is feeling better soon.

Well, I think it's funny.

everyone seems so excited about this game.. I cant even fill my football pool! still have 30 squares. interested? 10 a square.

hey you guys........

Well, look who joined the party. Welcome back.

Hope all of you snowbound folks are starting to melt a little or can at least get some cleanup started. By the way, those were some great pictures on the DisDads Facebook page. I would have joined in, but where we are, there is no snow, just brown grass, so it wouldn't have had the effect........... However, they're talking about freezing rain here tonight and into tomorrow, which is typical since DS birthday party is tomorrow night. His got snowed out big time last year too, so we're definitely not hoping for a repeat.

Oh, and for the 2nd time in the history of history, page ownage :)

Greg..I didnt have snow either...I just dindt want to be left out :rotfl2:

For all of those Dads out there new and old...the Facebook page has been hopping...come join the fun there too!!!

It's not snowing here, nor is it sleeting, but they've canceled school for today and tomorrow because it's cold outside.

I understand it's a safety issue, what with the roads being somewhat icy, but it makes me chuckle a little bit when I think about you northerners sitting outside in the snow sipping cold ones while wearing shorts and flip-flops. :lmao:

That being said, people in our area tend to freak about the weather very often. In April, they freak out because it rains to much, in June, they freak out because it's hurricane season, in July it's too hot, in August it hasn't rained enough and then we get back to the winter months where it's too cold to go to school.
