And speaking of her dad... for all those of you who have prayed and such over the past couple of months - his latest MRI results came back this week, and the cancer cells have been shrinking! We are very excited about it. The tarceva pills that he has been taking have not only been doing their job of stopping the growth, they have actually been doing even more. She was so happy to get that news a couple of days ago. He's up and around, walking with and without a cane (instead of the walker), and actually drove a couple of weeks ago for the first time in 4 months. Went to McDonald's and the bank. He's doing well and is quite happy. At this point the doctors believe (though no one knows for sure of course), that the original 6-8 months prognosis can be extended to 1-2 years, maybe more. But no one wants to be say anything above that. So we have one more thing to be thankful for as Thanksgiving approaches. DW told him on the phone last night that he should definitely be thankful that he picked the "right time" to have cancer... just 3 years ago this drug didn't exist, and since he has the kind of cancer that chemo doesn't work for... he would have been gone pretty quickly. But not now anyway... :)

That's great news! Definitely plenty to be thankful for this year.

Hey Nate, I think the tree looks great! :thumbsup2

You can keep a tree for 19 years????? Wow, I thought they only lasted 1 or 2 years since that's about how often we seem to have to buy a new tree. And my argument for just getting a real tree is always met with how wasteful it is to spend all that money on something that's only going to last for a few weeks...

We got an artificial tree about 5 years ago after the live trees kept breaking the wire I had holding them up, smashing our ornaments and getting water all over the carpet. I think the accidents may have been "assisted" by some innocent-looking toddlers at the time... :sad2:

Anyway, it still looks good and has paid for itself in terms of the cost of buying a live tree every year.

Looks like Pooh is sneaking away with the Frankincense and Myrrh. :lmao:

:lmao::rotfl2:

I like Dave's monorail around the base. If Mary and Joseph could have taken the monorail to Bethlehem, I'm absolutely positive they would have done so.

:thumbsup2 I love the history that some of our ornaments have. While we don't have red jammies, we do have a red pig that my DW makes fun of every year, but it was given to my mother by her grandmother. My mom passed it to us several years back so the kids would enjoy it and then later one of them would get it. Last year when we were decking the tree, DW tried to avoid putting it on, but all 3 kids ganged up on her and it had to be placed on the tree. At that time they were literally fighting over who would get the little pig. I remember laughing about it quite a bit over the next few days, and every time I started, DW would shoot me such a look and hit my arm. Too bad we aren't putting up a tree this year here at home, or we'd probably a repeat of the situation again.

My wife has a goofy "cow in a bikini" ornament that cracks her up every time she looks at it. I make a show of trying not to put it up, but it's a good conversation piece. Plus, it's a way for us to thumb our nose at high-maintenance people that have to have the "perfect" tree. :thumbsup2

:woohoo::cool1:

That's awesome news! Thanks for posting the update! And I can't wait to hear about your upcoming trips.

Howdy Dads, been a while, still looking for work but enjoying every minute with my girls. We do have something pretty darn big in the works and need some good vibes and prayers our way. My wife is interviewing for an amazing job in Indiana. I know, I know, are we crazy, moving from Sunny South Florida (only 3 hours from Disney) to cold Indiana? The answer is, Yes we are....It's time for a new adventure, and, if she gets this job, I will officially be a full time stay at home dad, taking the pressure off of finding work. So, please, please, please, lately, the big guy upstairs hasn't really been answering my prayers, so maybe if we hit him from all sides he'll hook me up.

The good news is, we are 4 days out from another Orlando trip, or like my oldest daughter says "OUR-Lando", with a visit to MK on Thanksgiving Day, part of our goal of celebrating every holiday in MK once. We will also be doing Cinderella's Happily Ever After Dinner @ 1900 Park Fare and are hoping to catch a screening of Tangled at DTD on opening day. Also, taking advantage of our Fun Pass @ SeaWorld that expires at the end of this year, we'll take in some of the Holiday festivities there.

I do need to come around here more often, heck, I need to go to Disney more often.

Hope all is well with you guys....

And what's wrong with Indiana????? :mad::headache:

What part of Indiana is the prospective job in? I hope it goes well and she gets it. This really isn't that bad of a place to live aside from the fact that you'll be about a 12-14 hour drive from Orlando.

Just cause the answer is no doesn't mean he ain't answering.

Maybe Indiana is the answer...hope so...I'd move there if I got to be Mr.Mom. :thumbsup2

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Indiana, except that, well, umm, it's flippin' cold.........Nah, actually, we're looking forward to it. I've been doing a lot of research and it looks like an amazing state, much better than lame-o Florida. The Job would be in Indianapolis. Now, if she gets the job, I will root for the Colts (unless they are up against Miami), but I don't think I can give the Pacers much love.....

I saw a movie a long time ago, I think it was called Sister Mary Explains It All, and she says something along those lines, "Sometimes his answer is simply 'NO!'.......

A Spy car introduces himself to Mater "...blah blah British Intelligence"

"Tow-Mater Average Intelligence." :rotfl2: :lmao:

Oscar, we're still hoping everything works out! Several DIS Dads in Indiana, so the place can't be all bad. :thumbsup2

hey, i got the pickle in the pic.!!!:lmao: a tree with pickles and pooh.:lmao: ill take a pic and post the tree that we are going to set up in our room at okw in just 12 days. youll love the tree topper we have.:lmao:

I found the pickle! Do I get the prize?! :thumbsup2

Don't worry, I can't either... :rolleyes1

Not a big NBA fan in the first place though. I prefer to watch high school or college basketball.

I gather that HS and College is big there, I'll have to adjust. My biggest adjustment though, is going to be that weather.....not so much that it will be cold, but the lack of bikini's walking around could be a real bummer.

from the research I've done, it looks awesome, I'm really looking forward to experiencing actual seasons, not just Summer and January like we have here in south florida.......

Yep, and for those that don't like basketball it is a social event if nothing else.

Gotta agree with you on that second point. I can't recall the last time I saw a bikini walking around in Indy.

Write that sentence down somewhere so that you can look at it and remember that thought later. We've been known to have all 4 seasons in a day.:rotfl2: Like the saying goes, if you don't like the weather, wait 5 minutes.
