Ok guys, you've done it now. I mentioned the idea of geocaching to my family after reading about it here, and now they're all excited to try it. We don't own a GPS (either handheld or for the car). So...what models/makes do you recommend we try?

Geocaching is a great family hobby! We have a Magellan Explorist 210 but any Magellan or Garmin will work fine. Try not to do parking lot caches at first; they're not nearly as much fun as caches in parks and the woods. Good caching! :thumbsup2

Calling all Dad's! Calling all Dad's!

A very good friend of mine is currently a finalist in a song contest and he needs your votes. His name is John Bagnato and his song is called "Sweet Crude Blues". Please give him a hand and vote for his song. Thank You.
:thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Okay that's funny!!

But is there something you should be sharing with us??:confused3:confused3

Yes... DO SHARE popcorn::

CRUD!!!!

Whew I feel better. This week has been nuts! Between work, meetings at night and football practice (I voluteered to coach this year) I realized that I have not seen my two youngest sons since Sunday. Then I realized I haven't been on here in a while either. Looking forward to this weekend.

Christoper and Dave, your family's are in our thoughts and prayers.

I can totally relate! My schedule is.. Teaching 7 am to 2:30, coaching high school football from 3 - 6.. then personal training three days a week..

I told my family a few weeks ago.. Daddy will be gone for the next few months.. but he loves you!

I am about the same except we go later. I am coaching Mites (9-10 yo) and we start at 5:15 and go till about 8:00. (it is a little dark by the time we are finishing practice). I am not complaining though because I get to spend 3 hours with my oldest son every night on the football field.:thumbsup2

Ahoy Capt. is your cell phone gps enabled? I have Trimble's Geocache Navigator on my phone and it is spot on almost everytime even when I dont have cell coverage.
I used to use my Garmin Nuvi out of my car until I got this sweet app for my phone. Picked my Nuvi up from Costco fairly cheap and it has an enternal batery so I can unplug it from the car and walk around with it. 2-3 foot acurancy.

Just found a geocoin yesterday that made it to Colorado via NY, NC, SC and then Florida. Over 3000 miles.

Hello friends. So I have just a quick update on my FIL. After more tests, the biopsy that they did over the weekend ended up being done improperly so it had to be redone. SO... we are now waiting for the results once more.

Yesterday the docs did a Kyphoplasty (a procedure where they go in and inject medical cement to restore or repair the damaged vertebrae). From what my wife tells me from her conversation last night with her dad, his pain went from about a 9.5 to about a 5. From the conversation with her brother, he said the one vertebrae hadn't just been fractured, but shattered. They showed BIL the pictures, and it was pretty much gone. As he said, "the two squashed marshmallow shapes on either side were normal, the one in the middle looked more like a pile of dust". It wasn't just fractured, it had shattered.

They did get FIL up on his feet last night with a walker for some preliminary PT. He took 2 steps and then had to sit down again. They praised him for those steps, but to my brother in law verbalized some concern. They were going to be trying again today. That's all I know for now. At this point, though it can still change, DW is looking to fly out early next week to spend time with him. I've already cleared with the powers that be at work to work from home the entire time she needs to be gone since I have 2 of my 3 kids at home (we homeschool - my eldest went off to public school this year for the 9th grade and beyond). So DW just needs to set out their coursework for however long she plans to be gone, and then feel comfortable knowing that things will continue at home while she is away.

Even though I haven't been commenting or sharing as much as usual, I have been following along on my phone. Some pretty funny stuff the past couple of days. It helps brighten the otherwise dreary times my family is going through right now... thanks for the chuckles guys. :thumbsup2 Keep it up. I'll pop in from time to time.

:goodvibes
You've been hanging around by the asphalt machine without a respirator again, haven't you?

I love the smell of asphalt in the morning.

Ask and ye shall receive.
I only wear shorts in Florida, that is my rule!!

Don't ask what I needed to do to get those beads.;)

So what did you have to do to get those beads? ;)

I have the garmin etrex legend. I is an inexpensive model, but has a lot of features.
The is a newer model:

We have had fun geocacheing several times.

Thanks guys! I have an ultra-cheapskate pay-as-you-go cell phone, so no GPS on that.

Completely shattered...wow. Sounds like you're doing all sorts of juggling. We'll keep sending prayers your way.

Ok I voted...

Holy cow have I been busy the past few days...

Still busy but wanted to drop in and say hi:thumbsup2

Four days....8 hours sleep....ZOOOMBIE:lmao:

Have any of you Daddio's used a TA to book your WDW trips? I have always done it on my own and seem to get the best discounts that I can find. Just curious to get started planning next years trip.
LESS THAN $200 TO A PAID OFF TRIP FOR DECEMBER!!! WOOOHHHOOOO

AJRitz: Love your quote on the caption contest. You beat me to the punch (that and voting had already begun) but my quote was going to be:

"With an open heart and an empty stomach, I say unto you in the words of my mother's uncle's cousin's half-brother: Allez Cuisine!"

We have used AAA in the past because we get a % off of the room and a few perks, but you loose the AAA discount if Disney has a better promotion. I prefer doing it on our own. The past few years Disney has always offered a discount that negated the TA discount.

Hey dads, just got back from our non-disney-disney trip a couple of days ago. We had a pretty good time considering, the SeaWorld After Dark thing was pretty dang cool with a special Shamu Rocks show and a fireworks display that IMO was better than MK's.

We did come home to some potentially exciting news though. DW has an interview for a high powered gig tomorrow morning, and I have one set for Wednesday morning. Hopefully they'll both come through, but if I can at least nail my interview next week, an all out Dis celebration will take place over Thanksgiving week to make up for the lack of it this time out.

Keep you fingers crossed..

Thanks. It's what I get for websurfing while watching Food Network.
