I will drive out of my way by 30 miles to avoid the D.C. Beltway. :headache:

Quick question. Looks like I'll have a few down days on my next trip to Erie, PA. Anyone know of anything to do in that area?

Last time I was in Erie I was 14(?) for my Grandpa's funeral and my dad took me somewhere near the lake for a fresh perch sandwich that was phenomenal. So, that was like 20 years ago.

So it's it's still there, look for a hole-in-the-wall shack next to the water serving perch sandwiches right off the water. :thumbsup2

Christopher,
This is good to know,I have called you Chris before and will try to make note in my mental bank. Please be patient with me though as there are many things stored up there between my ears so it might take a little time to go through and process it.

Ummmm Christopher/Stopher. I too have made the error of shortening it to Chris. I guess since I have a cousin Chris it just stuck in my head :rotfl2: I will be sure to do it up right from now on!:thumbsup2

Humm… My last post might just open up an opportunity to toss a light subject out on to the court. Who all out there has a nickname (cool or otherwise) that they will actually own up to, :rolleyes1 and how did you get it? We might even need to add these to the members list on the first page. Having just suggested it, I guess that means I have to go first, so…

They call me “Ginger” :rotfl:

As I said, I picked up the moniker from a good friend of mine. The derivation here is actually pretty simple. I love the flavor of the stuff (the real thing that is, the hot stuff) and I’ve turned many folks on to it as well. I’m quite addicted to Ginger Ale, and there is a specialty brand sold down this way that’s unique to SC called “Benheim’s”. This brew will rock you back on your heels  (I highly recommend the “Old #3” formula with the red caps). If you’re traveling down I-95 or I-77 through the Palmetto state and you stop for gas, check out the chill case inside to see if they have any available (it’s not yo moma’s Ginger Ale). My DW also makes homemade candied ginger from fresh roots (for baking purposes) and I can eat this by the hand full as well (it’s even more addictive if you drizzle very dark bitter chocolate on it first… Mmm, Mmm, Mmm :thumbsup2).

I have a couple of nicknames that all center around my last name which is Wiley...The one I got most often going up and still today was Wile E Coyote. Named after the Loony Tunes character. The second one was given to me by teachers in school and it sort of stuck because I was always back in the class smiling and kept them wondering what I was up to. The called me "Smiley Wiley" :rotfl2:

As far as anyone using my name on here...feel free. Heck I have the names of my entire familiy listed in my signature so feel free....It's all good...:cool1:

Barry, Had you and your family on my mind all day today...hang in there...praying for you all.

I forgot to mention that Shari went to Huntington Airport today and got tickets on Allegiant Air for the December trip. On Saturday 11/27 we fly from Huntington into Clearwater/St. Pete and drive 90 minutes or so to Orlando for 69 bucks....coming home we leave Orlando on 12/5 into Huntington for 49 bucks...All 4 of us are flying and prepaid the luggage fee for us all and the total was under 700 bucks!:thumbsup2 I thought that was pretty good and only have to drive 15 minutes to and from the airport at home!!

“Wile E. Coyote, Supergenius.
I like the way it rolls out.
W-i-l-e---E.---C-o-y-o-t-e, S-u-p-e-r---g-e-n-i-u-s!”

(you gotta' love Loony Toons).

BTW: Congrats on picking up the killer airfare down to the world. :thumbsup2 One less thing to worry about.

My mom passed away peacefully this morning. Yes, I'm sad, but also relieved. She wasn't doing well the last few days and she can finally be at peace now. As I mentioned before, she spend her entire life as farmer's wife, milking cows twice a day, every day. During some very lean times on the farm, she took a job at a local cheese plant in addition to twice daily milkings. She still found time to make sure all of the family and hired hands were fed and taken care of. She made sure that us kids got to all of our assorted activities and games and made sure that all of us got at least some post-secondary education. Along the way she dealt with the death of her husband, survived breast cancer, and lived 6 years after an aneurysm that should have taken her on the spot. She's earned her wings. :littleangel:
