Got a mailer from our Disney Visa...where they offer 3x reward points on certain purchase types. Gas, Groceries, Dining, and Airlines. Guess it doesn't hurt to sign up...but reading the fine print. not sure it would help.

Only works from July-Sept. Only works if the vendor sends them appropriate info specifing that items are one of the above types.

Anybody else had luck with this type of offer? :confused3

I don't know, but I think it might be about time that I get a Disney Visa. I've always had a BP Visa and liked the fact that I can just get cash back every few months, but I keep getting funny reactions lately when I hand someone a card with the BP logo on it :confused3:confused3:confused3

I was reading the Fine print at a Shell the other day while filling up the Minvan...you get 5 cents per gallon if you use the card...up to a maximum of $60...annually...thanks allot Shell keep your card.

BP's was much, much better than that... I think like 5% on gas purchases, 2% on travel, 1% on everything else... good for a few hundred bucks per year. I could use some Disney rewards though, especially if BP can't afford to keep that program going.;):thumbsup2

I usually go ahead and sign up. When I check my statement online, each purchase is usually listed under one of those categories, so it seems like they get the info most of the time. Just one more way for Big Brother to keep track of where you're spending your money... :cool2:

Were you at the DVC resort at HHI? We have been there three years running and will be back for year 4 in August - it is just fantastic.

I can't believe I have just now found this thread! Can't wait to join in.

Please add me to the list when you have a chance.

I hope everyone has a great day tomorrow!

Hey! Another dad that had the creative juices flowing when creating the username :cool1::cool1: Welcome! You are member # 474! :thumbsup2

Hi All,

New to the thread. Just finding this thread after about 6 mos of looking around Disboards. Looking forward to participating.

Went to WDW as a kid once about 20 yrs ago. Just went back in March with DW, DS(5), and DS(3). We had a BLAST! Already planning next trip (poss early Dec or Feb/Mar).:wizard:

We stayed at POR. We loved pin trading.:thumbsup2

Happy father's day to all. I just got a Cuisinart ice cream maker from my crew for father's day, and can't wait to try out the dole whip recipe!

PS, we saw ToyStory3 yesterday... it was great!

We just tried pin trading this year... and DD loves it! Welcome to the club! You are member # 475! :thumbsup2

:welcome: WELCOME TO THE DIS DAD'S CLUB! :welcome:

You have been added to the DIS Dad's Club list :thumbsup2

There were reports that a Kansas Based group from Westboro Baptist Church were planning a protest at the Funeral of local Senior Airman Benjamin White...local residents showed up to support our fallen hero.

YouTube!!!

According to THIS report...Westboro Baptist Members were not to be found. :confused3

You DO NOT mess with people's family in East Tennessee. :thumbsup2

Well, I tried the recipe and it was too vanilla. I will modify the recipe and get back to you. I am thinking going with 48 oz pineapple juice, 32 oz of whipping cream, 16 oz of milk with the 3 cups of sugar. I'll mix it up and let you know.
Thanks! It looks like our son's ice cream maker is packed away in their storage shed. I don't know if we can get to it.

I like the way you think! :thumbsup2

Yeah...the credit is enough that I don't want to waste it, but not enough that it would make for a free trip for the Mrs. and me to anywhere worth going (according to the summer airfares posted).

Gotta love flushing money down the toilet! :wave2:

Don't give up and flush the whole value just yet. IIRC, SWA credits are fully transferable. You might try checking out the message boards over at http://www.flyertalk.com/ and see if there's a reasonable market for selling your credits. I think SWA policy forbids sale of credits, but not transfer - mostly because they don't want any involvement if a sale goes South. But their policy allows transfers, and if someone just happens to "transfer" some money back to you, there's not much they can do about it. You probably won't get full value, but even 50 cents on the dollar is better than nothing.

You beat me to it! That was my next step. I'm going to try and offer it to family and friends first (at a discount, of course). Thanks for the website! I didn't know that was out there.

So...do any of you guys need to fly anywhere in the next month or so? Travel has to be complete by Aug. 8 to use this credit.

I wish you had posted this a few weeks ago. I just flew on SWA one way from Minneapolis back to KC yesterday. That would've been a great way to use discounted SWA credits.

But just for grins, how much flight credit do you have? Maybe it would be best to take discussion of how much you'd want for the credits to PMs.

As we get more new members just send me a PM and tell me where you are from and I will get you added to the list.

Hey DisDads on Facebook...

I sent you information to add one of our new members to the DisDads friend list on facebook so we can get to know him better and pick on him there as well. It is DisDr.

Steve

I totally understand that. We've done the math ourselves, and found that a vacation in WDW is just about the same (assuming we drive) as Wisconsin Dells. For those not familiar "The Dells" is a very touristy area of Wisconsin - lots of water parks, resorts, shows, etc. And The Dells is only a 3 hour drive from here. You just get so much more out of a Disney Vacation that paying that extra amount seems totally worth it.

Yes Barry... I know, I know. DW (erika412) has reminded me of this a few times now.

If I'd known I couldn't use it for September, I would have posted it sooner!

The credit is $180. I'd like to get $179.50 back. ;)

Just kidding. Anyone who is interested, feel free to PM me. Thanks!

Marriott Rewards Card. Between the travel and the rewards points, I haven't paid for a hotel room at Disney in the last seven years. Of course we don't get the Disney Magic at the hotel but we don't stay at the hotel that much anyway. But it does mean more Disney magic more often!

We just tried pin trading this year... and DD loves it!

One of the many reasons that my wallet is empty on the trip home... :rolleyes1 They must have a more that a hundred each.

You can't find much worse than that group of fakers. They showed up here once and all of the local biker clubs showed up to make sure they stayed in their place! pirate:

I dont understand the whole pin trading thing.. Lauren is starting to get intersted in the autographs, but Ethan is starting to not care as much so maybe pin trading is a new avenue to explore...what do I need to do to get him started and how does it work?

For my girls, it started as a couple of coupons for a free pin. When they received the pin they kind of looked at it like "why would I want this?" but then a CM told them that they could trade it with any CM that had a pin lanyard. The eyes brightened up and they were hooked!

The best way to get into it is to start by buying a lanyard set with a few pins included. They are often multiples of the same pin. Then find the cast members with the lanyards or the patches on their belt. There are a few CMs that have special colored patches that only trade with kids.:thumbsup2
