Wow, we picked up a bunch of new folks. Welcome. I'll even go so far as to offer a truce to Wolfpack Legion before the 2010-11 college athletic season begins, even though you have owned my favorite team on the football field over the past few years.
Triathlon number 2 is in the books. This one was different than my first. It began with a 750 yard open water swim in a lake (first one was a 250 yard swim in a pool). Let me tell you, that was very intimidating. It was a mass start, so that meant all of us old farts over 40 began at once. So, I was battling about 100 other dudes in the first couple hundred yards for a spot to swim all the while not being able to see a thing due to the dark lake water. When I got to the first turn bouy, I was totally exhausted from fighting for a spot to swim. Honestly, the thought that went through my head was "crap, I'm gonna drown in this lake..."I really had to work to get myself back together, and I managed to because after the first turn we had a long straight and I got to spread out from all of the folks fighting it out. My main goals for the swim were to just get out of the water and not get passed by any of the under 40 women that started 4 minutes after I did. I achieved one of those goals. I did get out of the water. I got blown away by one chick about 150 yards from the finish. I mean BLOWN AWAY. She was flying; looked like no effort at all on her part. I earned a new respect for the open water swim yesterday, and a ton of respect for anyone that does any kind of ironman or half ironman triathlon (mine was considered a sprint). 750 yards in a lake was tough for me, and I'm a pretty good swimmer; I can't imagine how hard 2.4 miles (Ironman) or 1.2 miles (half Ironman) in an ocean is. Bike ride was hard but manageable (17 miles) and the 5K that finished it was on a packed gravel and mulch course, which I was greatful for so my legs wouldn't take the pounding of the concrete/pavement. I did cross the finish line, which was my goal, but I also pronounced my butt kicked when I got to the water table and had a chance to catch up with my training buddy.
This AM, just catching up on the World Cup working out the soreness, and getting the suit cases ready for WDW later this week. Hope that you guys have a great day.
98 days and counting![]()
Here is a tangent how did you pick your forum name?
I went to NC State hence the Wolfpack
It's sad, but that's the first thing I thought of when I saw your user name.My screen name is kind of an inside joke to computer geeks before Windows. My actual initials are CLS which was what you typed into the command prompt as the abbreviation for the ClearScreen command. Hence, I chose the alias "ClearScreen" which is simply what my initials meant to MS-DOS computers.

Welcome to all the new Dads!!
Just got caught up from last week. We are getting ready for our Outer Banks vacation. We are leaving Friday morning and should be in Kitty Hawk by Friday night. This should be interesting with a small car, 3 kids and a 8 hour dirve.
Been really busy with work trying to tie things up before we leave. My oldest finished his baseball season on Saturday with a win. It has been a rough season but it was good to end it with a win. After the game they made the selections for the All Star Team and he got picked!!!!. Very proud of him.
Just got done with one heck of a whirlwind weekend. We went to the Brewers game Friday night, the kids had their last swimming lesson on Saturday morning, then my wife's company picnic at the Milwaukee County Zoo. From there, I ran up to Sheboygan (about 1 1/2 hours away) for a wedding reception. Then on Sunday, we went up to the Milwaukee Air Show to see the Blue Angels and a host of other performers.
To top it off, I accidentally deleted over 200 of the pictures that I took (including all of the Blue Angel shots) from my camera before I downloaded them. Here's a little known fact for those not intimately familiar with computer: "deleted" files aren't really deleted. They're just much harder to get to. It took about 2 hours with some recovery software, but I was able to get them all back. I posted a bunch on Facebook, but here's a link to them on Picasa Web Albums for those non-Facebookers out there.
(I borrowed a friend's 70-300mm zoom lens for the weekend. Wow! I could almost see the spinach stuck in the pilot's teeth with that thing!)

Hi All
I am new to the DISboards as well as to your thread. My DW has been on the boards for a while but she just told me about them last week. DW loves WDW almost as much as I do.
I am the Father of 2 Boys 8 and 10 and have been married for 14 years. We have been on only 4 trips to Disney but our next one is in 59 days!
As my user name implies we live in Michigan but are always trying to figure out how we could move to Orlando to get the in in-state WDW discount.
Just 1 last thing to establish my level of WDW Passion/Insanity. When my wife and I went out on our 1st date while talking about many things we ended up on the subject of vacations and DW mentioned that she really enjoyed Disney. I told her how much I loved WDW and that I planned on taking my Honeymoon there someday! She replied that was her dream as well and 14 months later that was exactly what we did!
Thanks for establishing this board I am looking forward to reading all the post.
I checked out some of the photos on FB but I'll follow your Picasa link now. I sure hope my son gets to join the Blues! He should be hearing something official soon. Next year, if they're up your way again, you might get to meet him. Then on Sunday, we went up to the Milwaukee Air Show to see the Blue Angels and a host of other performers.

Hi Mich! Where are you in MI? I have cousins in Clio. I'm also a Navy vet (1971-1975), RM3, NAVCOMMSTA GUAM as a CW operator (1972-1975). They probably didn't have CW anymore when you were in. They don't even have RMs anymore.Hi All
