Geez. What a day already. Cheerleading tryouts this morning at 9. Baseball at 10. Baseball at 4. Dance recital at 6. 10 million degrees. Thunderstorms looming. DD got cut from the cheerleading team, which means lots of current drama at our house but significantly less drama during next school year when "cheerleader drama" takes full stage. DS throws a complete game W in his first game back from a broken thumb. DW and me about melt in the heat........... Now at home trying to cool off before round two this evening.

Really feeling for DD right now, though. I tried to comfort her with my own "cut in 7th grade story" (which was true), but she wasn't having much of it. It's particularly tough when all of her friends BUT her make the squad; I think that's what she's having the most trouble dealing with right now.

Good to hear your son is back playing again!!!:cool1: Hate to hear about your Daugher not making it on the cheerlearder squad. I think a trip to Disney might be just the thing to cheer her up ..no pun intended!:rotfl2:

Carl just got back around 7 from your neck of the woods SP, went to see Choo-Choo Soul. Will be back next Sun to see Dan Zanes

i dont plan anything for our last day there, thats our hit the parks (mk,epcot, holly) for our good bye tour :lmao: when our dd was young, that kid never slept. so we have adopted (we, meaning dd and myself) the policy of, you can sleep at home, were in disney world, lets go!!!:thumbsup2

Thats pretty much the way I roll, If we get back before 11:30pm to our room I almost feel ripped off. We got to be up and out of the room before 8am everyday.

Just home from a week at WDW! It was as hot as Satan's balls, but we had a great time! Be prepared for awesome pictures soon! :thumbsup2

Now that is hot. Another expression I am going to add to my repertoire. I thank you.

Hey Christian! So glad to see you made it home safely. It was awesome spending my morning with you, Margie and Virginia! :cool1:

Here are a few pics from our morning together at the MK...

We had breakfast at the Crystal Palace. No ADR. Christian just walked up, and they said it would be about 10 minutes. It wasn't even 5 and they were calling his name. :thumbsup2. His sweet angel Virginia can be a bit shy at times...

After breakfast we went into Adventureland and look who we encountered...

2010-0605-0130.jpg

Margie and Virginia went over to the Country Bears while we went to BTMRR. Here we are together on the ride. I didn't verbalize it at the time, but afterwards I kind of felt like we were just blending right in as a couple, like the hordes of celebrants there this weekend for Gay Days. :rotfl: Let me just say it was a sea of red shirts/apparel today at the Kingdom of Magic, as Christian calls it. (There were plenty over at the Studios this evening when I was there too - but nowhere near as many as at the MK)...

At my favorite...

I believe I said it once already, but I'll say it again - it was AWESOME to be able to connect with them today and spend the morning together. :thumbsup2

Thanks. I think the dance recital took some of the edge off. I think that I sounded like a sore loser with the "all of her friends" line, but it wasn't meant to be that way. Just disappointed, that's all.

I'm not locked in with the ticket, but based on our length of stay, that ticket only costs about $5, so I figure it's worth hanging on to "just in case" (like just in case MNSSHP gets rained on hard, and we leave the park early, for example).

And in another bout of prevarication, I'm considering giving up our coveted CRT reservation for our first morning at Disney. We've got an 8:05 a.m. ADR for our first day at MK. Our only other MK day is the MNSSHP evening. I'm starting to think that a) I'd rather make sure we're at rope drop (and see the opening show) than enter an empty park (though that would make for some nice picture opportunities) and b) I'd rather do a 1 TS ADR (or even a signature restaurant) for dinner that evening instead. c) We're doing Akershaus a few days later for The Bug's birthday dinner. It looks like they have most of the same characters, and I don't want The Bug's birthday dinner to be anti-climatic.

Thoughts? Opinions?

How about dinner at 1900 Park Fare, with Cinderella, Lady Tremaine, Anastasia, Drizella & Prince Charming.

It is a buffet, food was really good, great setting, and they play there parts well.:confused3

Chris we had a great time. Virginia is in bed sleeping with Daisy. Thank you so much she really loves her. Your pictures are great, thanks for posting them, I love the one with the club mascot!:thumbsup2

Oh man..Ron..I am so glad to hear you say that...I just made resevations this evening for that dinner!!!! It will be Lauren's birthday celebration! I was not sure if I was going to be disappointed in the dinner and character stuff. You have made me feel better about the decision now...Whew!

It is great that you guys were able to meet up and hang out in the happiest place on earth...Chris took some great pictures looks like!

I did not think it sounded like a sore loser at all...It would be a hard thing for her to swallow being the odd man out with her friends being on the squad and her not. I think at a Dad that would hurt you as much as it does her.

I am hoping that when my daughter gets older that she wont want to do the cheerleading thing...I just can't stomach the drama ...and the parents are as bad as the kids sometimes....sheesh..Little Leage has just about worn me out with drama this spring!

You got to be on toes, Lady Tremaine came to our table 1st walked around us, came up to me and said "Can you drive a coach?". The sister's were always fighting (you could hear them across the room). They were a riot:lmao:

Hey fellow-Dads, this DisNewbie could use some trip planning advice from the vets. Here's my dilemma. I'm trying to figure out what to do about the last two days of our trip, Friday, Oct. 8 and Saturday, Oct. 9. In the middle of this decision is our plan to do MNSSHP on Friday, Oct. 8.

On the 7th, we're at Epcot for The Bug's Akershaus birthday dinner and staying late for Illuminations, so we'll be up late on Thursday night.

Friday the 8th we know we need to sleep in, after being up late on Thursday and planning to be up REALLY late for MNSSHP. So what to do with Friday? I figure, even with sleeping in, the kids will be up and at 'em by 10 a.m.

Alternative #1: Do we spend some time in a park? (TGM says MK or HS; TouringPlans says Epcot) We'll want to take an afternoon rest too, as MNSSHP night is going to be really late. MK seems a bit wasteful, since we'll be there later with a smaller crowd anyway. HS is a possibility, but with a late start, we'll likely not have time for the headliners. As for Epcot, we will have just been there on Thursday for our second Epcot day of the trip. Wherever we go, we'd really only have a couple of hours to tour if we're going to get an afternoon nap in.

Alternative #2: Spend a half hour on a pontoon boat (I think the kids will get bored with more than that) and a couple hours in the pool before nap time. Then head over to MK right when the party wristbands start getting distributed at 4 p.m. (Is this too much of a gamble that the kids will hold up, or will the MNSSHP excitement carry them through to midnight).

Altenative #3: Much like #2, but maximizing MK touring time. Tighten up the morning just a bit, and head back over to MK around 2 p.m. (Downside is having to go back to get our wristbands at 4 p.m.)

If we don't go to a park before MNSSHP, that means we have one ticket day left. I see two options for what to do with that ticket:
Option 1) Spend a morning in the park on our getaway day. Our flight doesn't leave until about 5 p.m., so we'd have some time. But there's that whole late start thing again after a late night.
Option 2) While the kids are sleeping in/at the pool/resting, DW and I take turns heading over to MK and collecting (but not using) Fastpasses for use when we return for the party. Conceivably, we could have 4-6 sets of Fastpasses to use at least between 4 and 7 p.m. (I don't remember whether FP is in use during hard ticket events).

Thoughts?
Even if you can use the FastPasses at the party, everyone would have to go into the park in the morning to "activate" your tickets. Once they go through the turnstiles, the tickets will work in FastPass machines.
I would vote for a leisurely day. Maybe a little resort hopping - go over the the Boardwalk / Beach Club area, get some ice cream at Beaches & Cream, take some naps and then go to the party at 4. The party should keep the kids going pretty good - otherwise the free candy will. :thumbsup2
And even a few hours in the park on getaway day is nice. Not to say good bye, but more of a See Ya Real Soon!

That video was great.

Firefly was a good series.:thumbsup2

And hi new member checking in with you guys if that's ok with you

Names Jeff live in NC planning our second family trip to Disney this December with my two boys wife and her parents. Got most of the leg work done with it everything is booked and ADR's made, just have to get MVMCP tickets bought and we will be set.

Welcome to the club Jeff! If you want, check out the green link in my signature. There are around 10 of us all going down at that time.

Wait, I'm confused. You got cut from cheer-leading in the 7th grade? :confused3:lmao:

We did 1900 PF for Madison's 5th birthday. We all had a great time! The step mother and sisters are hilarious.
Oh, and don't forget to get the strawberry soup. You can thank me later. :thumbsup2

OK Christopher...

Dave proudly displays that he has 48 trips and counting. :worship:

I want to know your number...including Disneyland trips. popcorn::

Oh Nate - that's a really tough one.

For trips, and overnight stays of multiple nights at WDW - Dave wins hands down. I posted a number somewhere back in III, after a long calculation, but cannot recall where or what it was at this time. But it did equal nearly half a year's worth - but Dave has me beat.

But when you factor in Disneyland for me... that's not a very easy thing to properly determine - because -

a) I grew up in So. Cal, just 30 min. from the park. In my childhood my parents took my brother and I about an average of 7x per year. PLUS, DL was a very popular option for youth groups, church groups, school trips, prizes for various competitions, etc, etc. So that 7 easily becomes 12x per year from age 5 - 17. That's not even counting the times I was invited along with a friend for his/her birthday or some other special event through the years - or the times out of town family came to So. Cal and wanted to go to DL and paid for us to go along with them.

b) In High School and into college, I worked there for 3 years. One year was completely full time, 5 days per week. Over that 3 years, there were so many times that I could go into the park with friends after we were off. Or sign other friends or family members in and spend time with them.

c) After getting married, my wife and I lived not 10 minutes from the park. We had AP's, and were over there O F T E N. Many times we would go just for lunch or dinner. Some times to ride one or two things. Some times just to shop.

d) Each of my kids were in a Disney park before at very young ages. DL itself was a great "Daddy-Son" place for a lot of afternoon visits when my oldest was 3 and 4. My youngest (born in IN) was taken to DL at 6 weeks old (flying across the country mind you, to go to DL - oh yeah, and to see family too). My middle (born in MI) by 16 weeks ( and oh yeah, to see family as well), and my oldest who was born about 7 minutes from DL, at about 4 weeks.

d) I also worked about 10-15 minutes from the park, and oftentimes could go in during my lunch hour for the same kind of thing as in item c. See item C - AP's played a huge role in all of this. I've had a DL one for 19 years now, I've only had my WDW one for 2 years. Here you can see my newest "toy" that I got today, turning in my other passes for this new beauty. It really isn't anything different than what I already had, an AP on both coasts, just combined into one. They took the value of my existing ticket and then I only had to pay a relatively small amount compared to what this one would have cost new - but, instead of the original expriation dates applying, I got a brand new expiration date a year from now. So I was happy.

2010-0605-0182.jpg

e) While my actual nights stayed at one of the DL hotels, or a good neighbor hotel across the street from the park are no where near as many as my nights at WDW - my total time in DL far outweighs Dave's 48 trips to WDW. Even a rough calculation estimates that I've been to Disneyland well over a thousand times, probably somewhere between 1,500 - 2,000. Add that to my nearly half a year's worth of overnight stays/park visits to WDW - and yeah, it's a huge number.

So - with that in mind, I would probably conclude that I win for total visits / time in a Disney park. But Dave wins for total vacations and time spent at Walt Disney World.

I talked it over with DW tonight. She agreed with both of my concerns about the breakfast, and when we talked about doing 1900 Park Faire with also agreed that it wouldn't work well with The Bug. The stepsisters would make her mad. I can see her now, hand on her hip, finger wagging, scolding the stepsisters for being so mean. :hippie:

So instead of characters, we said screw the expense and decided to go for another unique experience. I hopped onto the online reservations system and swapped that CRT reservation for dinner at the California Grill. :cool1:

We wound up doing Akershus instead of CRT as well, to save the TS creditand still get a similar type of Princess based dinner.

I agree with you about the youngsters for an early breakfast ADR, it's just too unpredictable. I had one scheduled at Crystal Palace that I cancelled just because I couldn't guarantee that I could get everyone there on time without too many problems, and we wanted to make sure we made rope drop that day.

So for us, Pop Tarts and Special K bars in the room that day, but a great dinner later that night!
