just got back from philly at 6pm. we left this morning at 4:45 got there just before 6am. we meet the greatest dr. we have ever met! what a bedside manner!!! dw mass was descibe as moss growing on her optic nerve. its wrapped around the nerve. on june 18th she goes for surgery to biop. it only. he needs to know what it is before we can go any further. if its not cancer he may not have to do anything. at worst, may have to remove part or all of the optic nerve and or the eye ball. the mass is confined to the optic nerve. this surg. is an over night stay, they make 3 small slits in her eye lid, move the eye ball over and get a sample of the mass. she under went 3 test in 3 dif. locations today and blood work and another mri. she will most likely be home for about 2 weeks after the surg. shes in good spirits and we are hoping for the best for the test results which will take about till july 4th to have back. its a very painfull surg. the mass is in the back of her optic nerve. she will look like she went 10 rounds with the champ when she gets out. we are all hoping and praying for the best. (thanks again)

Still Praying for you, DW and DD! :thumbsup2

dvczerfs, glad to hear you have such a great doctor. Confidence in the doctor helps so much. Also glad to hear that her spirits are high. She and your family continue to be in our prayers.

Glad you guys are comfortable with your Doc, hope you get the results you are hoping for and can put this behind you. Hang in there, keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

It looks like I get to go back to work tomorrow, after a week off with Pneumonia. The meds they give you for this really knock you on your butt:lmao:

Doc wanted to know if I wanted a few more days off, since all the meds will take a couple more days to get out of my system, but I have now run out off sick days till next year and don't really want to take a hit in the wallet, so off to work I go.
Work cut back from 5 paid sick days to 3 this year:( , and you can't use your sick days to stay home with sick kids. They did give us a "Personal Day" to use for things like that, though.

Does that mean I have to try and sell this damned monkey? :earseek:
There's an email forward called "I like Monkeys", and it goes on about 96 dead monkeys, with one wet one in the toilet, and 3 in the freezer. Good stuff, if you have time to google it.

:lmao: we have the same rules at our recitals. about 10 years ago i vol. to be an usher. that allows me to walk around during the recitals and my job, after everyone is seated is looking for cam corders. if we see someone taping, we walk up, tap them on the sholder and ask them to stop taping please. ( about 5 years ago we got a police sargent as an usher!)putting 800 women in one room you need someone with a stun gun!!!:lmao: we only had one problem a few years ago we had a new wife and an exwife come together. there were clumps of hair in the hallway of the auditorium.:lmao: its a shame grown adults cant behave for 5 hours for there kids.
I quoted this for a reason. Perhaps to point out I really want to just stay married to my wife.

Did you guys see that Disney announced a new resort?
It's the Art of Animation Resort, is mostly family suites, and will have 4 wings - Little Mermaid, Lion King, Cars and Finding Nemo.

It should be ready sometime in 2012.
Well, looks like I've got a reason to plan another trip before I have my ADR's for THIS trip.

Ok, so I celebrated my 5 year work anniversary today, and I get to keep my job! :woohoo::woohoo: Not that I am in danger of losing my job, but to read the news, it's an accomplishment. And, the DW had a successful interview with the local prestigous (sp?) university. (She's the doctor, not me.)
I really hit the spouse jackpot.:thumbsup2

I stopped reading the original post at "3 slits in the eye," but that doesn't mean I don't wish the best for you and your wife, and her eye.

Woo hoo! We survived!

The Bug danced great:

And while Squeaker wasn't an angel, I wasn't motivated to try and sell him to the circus:

Even after stopping for ice cream on the way home, we got everyone to bed only about an hour and a half late. :goofy:

That sounds like great news, Dave! Your DW will remain in our prayers.

I think I'm finally getting over this head/chest cold/bronchitis. I had to resort to antibiotics a few days ago, which is something I never do. I also had a dental problem: cracked a molar and lost a piece of it. That got fixed yesterday so I'm almost as good as new! My DW got some news when she found out she has to have over $5000 worth of braces. Looks like no trips for us for a while. :guilty:

The Blue Angels will be arriving at Andrews today for the air show so we're hoping our son might hear something about his possible assignment. He is supposed to be able to spend time with them the next few days but he hasn't heard what that means. We're still hoping he gets this 3-year assignment!

I'm glad you have a good doctor, Dave. That's half the battle right there. We hope and pray everything goes well.

That sounds like a lot to go through, for both of you, but I am glad that you have a doctor you like and he has a plan of attack for this. I am hoping for the best for your wife, and for you, of course.

After the last couple of weeks it is refreshing to see some good news for a change.

Hopefully everyone is far down the road of recovery, and will have a long run of good health.

Our Prayers and positive vibes:goodvibes:goodvibes are with all those who are still under the weather.

Hope all goes well for all the Dis Dad families:goodvibes

My wife left me. The dog ran away. The truck broke down. The bank is foreclosing on my house.....

Don't worry that's not my life, I'm just writing lyrics for a new country song.:lmao::lmao::lmao:

My wife's job you can't use sick days to stay home with a sick child, you would have to use a "Personal Day" also. What's the difference on what kind of day you use, if you have the days why should it make a differance:confused3.

I usally use my sick days for snow, or if it's nice out, to take the family out somewhere. It always seems where I work if they run tight on payroll, they ask everyone if they want to take a sick or personal day, it seems like they only like you to use a day when it's good for them, go figure:confused3

About 8 years ago...my work took away all sick/personal days and grouped it all into PTO (Paid Time Off). Good news is that if your not sick you get allot of extra Vacation Time...bad news is...if you do get sick and have to use it...you lose vacation time. No restrictions on use...just need prior approval for PTO greater than 1 day...unless it is an illness.

Hi, My name is Brian. I am addicted to WDW.

Lets face it, once I get on that plane headed to WDW, the rest of the world does not exist till I return..

We get 3 weeks sick time and 3 weeks of "annual leave". It's a nice benefit to be able to use the sick time for dr. appts. and when the kids are sick without having to burn vacation days. Of course, the vast majority of my sick time goes unused, and I can only cash out so much whenever I retire. I think I have 2 months banked now that I'll probably never use.

Welcome Brian!

Here are the ADR's I booked for our September free dining trip. A couple of these are old favorites, but 4 are new places. Any recommendations as to what items I should try off the menu?

Sat., Sept. 18 (arrival): Dinner at Chef Mickey's (for the kids, obviously).
Sun., Sept. 19 (Magic Kingdom): Dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern.
Mon., Sept. 20 (Animal Kingdom): Dinner at Kona Cafe (date night with DW).
Tues., Sept. 21 (Epcot): Dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe.
Wed., Sept. 22 (DHS): Dinner at 50's Prime Time Cafe.
Thurs., Sept. 23 (Epcot): Lunch at Le Cellier.
Fri., Sept. 24 (Magic Kingdom): Dinner at Tony's Town Square.

We've never been to Chef Mickey's, Kona Cafe, 50's PT, or TTS before.

Also, any recommendations for CS meals? My kids and I are not generally adventurous eaters. By this, I mean that we normally consider tacos to be an exotic meal. But it's nice to break from the pizza/burger routine after a while.

Thanks guys! popcorn::

Hi Brian!
Heck, for most of us, the rest of the world doesn't even exist when we're not at WDW!
