If you do go to Columbus, its worth the side trip to Waldo, Ohio for the best fried bologna sandwich on the planet (and perhaps the best sandwich on the planet PERIOD). It's served at a little hole-in-the-wall place called the G & R Tavern.

I have had a few customers ask me about serving fried bologna with breakfast at our restaurant, I have never heard of this? Someone told me this was big in the Buffalo area anyone heard of this.

Looks pretty good to me!!

Welcome to all the new Dads, I just caught up with the last few pages or so to see how everyone is doing. Hope all is well with everyone.:thumbsup2

The restaurant is great, probably the best decision I have made in my life. I have started to get into a groove and my schedule has eased up a bit. We have decided to only open for breakfast on the weekends (Fri, Sat, Sun) leave the rest of the week for the others in town. So now I only work 15-16 hr days two days a week...a lot better than 5.
Funny how you really need sleep.:lmao:

.the picture of DS's first fish is from the Waccamaw River, which is the freshwater river that you cross heading into Myrtle Beach.

I saw the shot of your sons first fish...thats awesome:thumbsup2 I didnt get a chance to comment before it has been kinda crazy.

I hope all is well with your family.

We have been digging up our driveway and my older son has been collecting worms to fish . Maybe tomorrow will be a good day, I will post pics if we catch ourselves a trophy. :goodvibes

What part of MB to you stay in?? NMB, Cherry Grove, MB??? Any favorite eating places?? We also make an annual trip down there in July with my, 4, my sister's 4, and my mother (dad passed almost 3 years ago, so our 10 are now unfortunately 9). We stay in Cherry Grove and have found it to be very family friendly over the years.

We stay up in the North end of things too. Like you said it is more family oriented. For several years we have stayed at the Sea Watch Resort there by the Arcadian Shores and love the location by the Wal Mart and Outlet malls. This year we are going to stay someplace different at the Brigadune which is a condo that I rented off the owner on vbro.com. I hope it is nice. It looked good from the pictures and it is in the Kingston Plantation area.

As far as favorite places to eat....that is one of our favorite things to do each evneing...Burro Loco out past Broadway At The Beach on 17 is great! I also love the atmosphere of TBonz at Barefoot Landing. We enjoy driving up to Calabash once or twice and eating at Ella's. It is just a Mom and Pop type seafood place that is great and cheap and clean!!!

Where do you guys like to eat and where do you stay? We are always looking for new things to try when we are there since going every year you like to spice it up a bit and make it not so repetitive.

That sounds great Aaron. I will have to check it out next time we are up that way. We live about 3 hours south of Columbus in the most southern tip of the state. If you have ever heard of Huntington WV or Marshall University...that is where we are. WE like to go to Columbus now and then to shop at Easton or City Center and just hang out. I could live there and be happy.

At the restaurant or at your cardiologist? :rotfl2:

That looks delicious!

You are right I think eating at the place that Aaron recomended and also at Paula Deans would require a stat Cardiac Catheterization ha ha. I love Paula...she cooks everything with Butta...Mmmmmmmm I hope we get to eat there!!!

Dang man, wish I was gonna' be here, I could help you out in Savannah---you will probably need reservations for that time of year!!!

DW is a Myrtle Beach Native, so I get there a lot...the picture of DS's first fish is from the Waccamaw River, which is the freshwater river that you cross heading into Myrtle Beach.

I wish you were going to be there too Mike. Maybe when you get back home the next time we can plan a trip to revisit the area. I would like to take in some of the historic Savannah sites too and not just Paula Dean,s cooking!! Mmm Man I am hungry!!

Holy cow it's a slow day in the DDC. The night shift is going to come in and think we abandoned the place. So let's talk summer vacation plans, Disney or otherwise.

We are heading to the Outer Banks, NC for a week in June. We go there every other year with my family and have a great time. I have an older brother with three sons and younger sister with two sons. Total count...8 boys ages from 5 mos to 12 years. It gets a little chaotic at times but we all get along great. The nice thing is the house we rent is big, has its own pool and hot tub and is across the street from the beach. It is great just sitting on the balcony and enjoying the sunrise in the morning and sitting on the balcony in the back of the house and enjoying the sunset at night.

Tonya and I are going to Philadelphia for a fews days in July. Once for the U2concert and hopefully to go see OAR (a band from MD) if we can get tickets.

Barry, Do I need to do a trip report for this?

Radd Dew's Barbeque in Conway..yummy:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Hey guys! About the only thing we have going on this summer is a trip back home to Canton, OH to visit my folks. Pop's birthday is July 4th, so we like to get together and put on a fireworks show for the gathering. I have 4 younger brothers who love to volunteer services for the showing :cool1: My DD keeps asking me if we are going back this year... she's like her old man... loves them fireworks! I'm thinking of putting in a day/night in the itinerary to check out the Lurray Caverns. Not sure yet... depends on how much time off I'll have by then. For now, I'm concentrating on the WDW trip in 7 days :woohoo:

Hello all.

We do not have any plans for this summer. I think we are just going to enjoy the sights and sounds of the Chicagoland area. We always get an annual zoo membership and pool pass and I think DW and the DDs are going to get good use out of them this year.

We were considering maybe taking a jaunt down to Branson, MO but there is no formal plans for this as of yet.

My plan this summer is getting through Uncle Sam's Sandbox for misfit toys....for the final time:goodvibes:goodvibes

Man, it's gonna' be a hot one this year:eek:

This summer we will hit Busch Gardens VA at least once for a few days (maybe twice), visit my friends in Newark, Del, (like to eat at Timothy's when we are there), Many trips to Sesame Place, The Boardwalk & County Fairs , love the sliced London Broil sandwiches they sell at the Fair:woohoo:

I hate to waste a day off so we usally go somewhere every week in the summer.

Wife and son will be in WDW in July for a week, I'll be home, hey someone has to go to work to pay for it:lmao:

End of Sept. Busch Gardens for Hallow Scream - has to be one of the best Halloween setups going, DS get to stay at Grandma & Grandpa's that weekend:scared1:

Holy cow it's a slow day in the DDC. The night shift is going to come in and think we abandoned the place.

Finally, a chance to catch up!

cheese and rasin ravioli????? i dont know what would happen??? one is a binding agent and the other is a flushing agent?? hummmmmm, i guess i know how they felt when they tested the first nuke bomb??? little pop, huge explosion or TAMMY, HURRY UP, BRING THE CAMERA!!!:lmao:

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

hey fed, i seen your post on fb. hope everything is going ok. if you ever feel like that again, thats what were here for buddy. you wont have to kiss us the next day! we have all been there, some more than others, but we have all been there. ive said and done many stupid things in my life. :thumbsup2

Almost daily... :sad2:

We are headed to Hilton Head in June for a week. I have never been there before so I don't know what to expect....planning to try to go and eat at Paula Deans restraunt in Savannah while we are there...any one know anything aobut that if you have to have or need reservations???

We planned a trip there last year until the In laws were involved in a crash that took my MIL out of commission for a few months. I believe that she has two restaurants, and reservations are suggested.

In August we are going to go to Myrtle Beach...that seems to be an annual trek. I think I need to retire to an ocean someplace!!!

In July I would like to drive to the Columbus Ohio area and see the outdoor drama Tecumseh. Have wanted to do that for years but never had the chance to get it done!

What part of MB to you stay in?? NMB, Cherry Grove, MB??? Any favorite eating places?? We stay in Cherry Grove and have found it to be very family friendly over the years.

We also have stayed in Cherry Grove and like it very much. :thumbsup2 Even have a trip planned there this summer ourselves.

We like to eat in Calabash once and usually eat at Beck's. We also like Carolina Roadhouse in North Myrtle Beach.

Let me know when you are heading to Busch Gardens... we have season passes and can get there in less than an hour. I'll buy you a drink in Germany:thumbsup2

No real huge travel plans this summer. We would love to be able to drive down to the house of the mouse for a few days, but if that happens it would be next to a miracle. I think will maybe drive north and stay over on a small lake somewhere and relax for a day or two. No solid plans just a lot of maybes and what ifs.:confused3

Well - I must say, it's been a rather quiet 3 days. I went camping with the Scouts this weekend, and then today was an unusually (& extremely) busy day today, so I didn't even get one chance to get on here... but I only had 6 pages to catch up on. Wow, pretty light guys - but at the same time, cool since I decided I'd comment on a few things here and there. Hope you all had a great weekend. I'm going camping again this weekend with the Troop once again - it is the camping season.

This is what I got yesterday:

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Nice, Mike!

The good Lord has seen fit to bless us with a 4th child due this September. We found out yesterday that we're adding a GIRL to the mix.:scared1: This fall, I'll have DS7, DS5, DS3, and DD newborn! WOW... where's that princess smiley face?:confused3

:cool1::dance3::yay: Congratulations!! There is NOTHING like having a girl! Good thing she's got 3 older bro's to take care of her! :lmao:

CONGRATS! That's so awesome. Girls are very cool. The guys are the greatest, but the girls are the sweetest! So cool that you'll have both. I didn't really think I wanted a girl before we had one...but wow, I wouldn't trade my little angel for anything. Her hugs and squeezes just melt my heart.

It looks like Disney is stealing our thunder. http://disneydads.go.com/

Wow! They're actually Disney employees. Maybe they should offer us honorary jobs! :lmao:

I wouldn't worry about them at all. Please - they're just trying to push their movies for the Movie Club. Trying to show that they're cool by using Dads instead of Moms. Whatever.

How can a company whose entire business is consumer sales have such a crappy payment processing system?

Disney knows how to make magic - not how to run any type of system other than a ride system. Their IT is crappy in all divisions. It's always been that way, and always will.

Awesome news:thumbsup2 Now the boys will have My Little Ponies to attack with the army men and monster trucks!
It's win win for everyone.

Yep - that's the kind of stuff that happens here too!

I just sent him an Email and invited him to come hang out with us. :hippie:

Don't be surprised if he doesn't publically join though. Most divisions within the WDCo don't allow their team members to speak in this type of public forum. Upper management is too afraid, thanks to their bevy of corporate attorneys (sorry attorney man), to let anyone who isn't "approved" to speak out about anything. My friends who still work within the Mouse's walls aren't allowed to post anything of any kind about their work, let alone any photos or negative comments, online. Clearly these guys have been approved, and have approved junk to "talk" about on their page.

Holy cow it's a slow day in the DDC. The night shift is going to come in and think we abandoned the place. So let's talk summer vacation plans, Disney or otherwise.

What's everyone else up to this summer?

The boys and I head out for a week at Summer Camp with the Scouts beginning on Father's Day. It's an awesome time. I'm the Camp Director for our Troop, and we're taking 75 boys and 24 adult leaders for a fun-filled week of being outdoors, hiking, swimming, shooting, archery, and all kinds of other cool stuff in southern Indiana on the shores of Lake Monroe.

After the fun I had last week driving through the town we lived a decade ago (Saline, MI) - and where my Matthew was born (Ann Arbor, MI) - DW has decided we need to make a weekend jaunt this summer back up there to hang out with some friends and let the kids take a look around. We pulled out of there 10 years and 3 months ago, so it's time for a visit. Not sure when yet, but probably in July.

Otherwise, probably a quiet time at home this summer, hitting the Indy Zoo (we've got an annual membership) and other local attractions.

We got a call from our Navy son a little bit ago. He arrived in Pensacola yesterday around lunch time; checked into the Navy Lodge; and then headed over to meet up with the Blue Angels. So far, he's loving it and he's met a lot of great people. Today, he helped clean the jets and he learned some other things about the canopies, etc. He really wants this so he's doing as much as he can to show them he's the person they want. He still has 3 more days with them to show them his best in hopes of being selected. :woohoo:

I sure hope it all works out for him. Sounds really, really cool.

My plan this summer is getting through Uncle Sam's Sandbox for misfit toys....for the final time:goodvibes:goodvibes

Man, it's gonna' be a hot one this year:eek:

When do you ship out again? It's coming up pretty soon, isn't it?

Well - I know that tomorrow's going to be a busy one too - but at least I'm caught up for now.

We like to eat in Calabash once and usually eat at Beck's. We also like Carolina Roadhouse in North Myrtle Beach.

I forgot aobut Carolin Roadhouse!!! I love those dinner rolls!!! I have not ever eaten at Beck's, but it is just past Ella's.

Glad it's going well! Are the weekdays your peak days? I remember before you mentioned you were setting up a website...anything up and running? Or are you just collapsing when you get home every night? :faint:

TBonz is my favorite place down there! Great steaks. We also really enjoy Ultimate California Pizza. And we tried a place at Barefoot Landing called Fire Island Grille last time. It was pretty good. The kids' meals were served using frisbees as the plates!

Barry, Do I need to do a trip report for this?

Please do! I love hearing about everyone's travels. Ask AJRitz to let you do one on Disdads.com. I'm getting lonely over there!

Let me know when you are heading to Busch Gardens... we have season passes and can get there in less than an hour. I'll buy you a drink in Germany:thumbsup2

Sounds Great, I'll let you know when we are going:thumbsup2

Did they take out all the Bud stuff & Clydesdales, heard anything that has to do with Bud was coming out:confused3

In July I would like to drive to the Columbus Ohio area and see the outdoor drama Tecumseh. Have wanted to do that for years but never had the chance to get it done!

If you head up to Columbus, make sure you wave in our direction! We're about 15 minutes from Easton.

Holy cow it's a slow day in the DDC. The night shift is going to come in and think we abandoned the place. So let's talk summer vacation plans, Disney or otherwise.

DD is off for 2 weeks of soccer camp in June. The second week was to be our trip to WDW. Since she can’t go, I had the choice to cancel or go solo. You guessed it, I am going solo. First time for that. I deserve it since the last time I was at the World I took DD and 6 of her friends. She also has a trip to Savanna to see her Aunt and maybe a trip to see a school friend that moved to Georgia. Many weekends I imagine will be spent in the Florida Keys. DD may take the Rescue Diver course in July or August. Tough year for us far so I plan on soaking in as much free time as I can manage having fun.

We don't have any trip plans for this year at this point. Most of our "spare cash" will be going into home improvement. So far, we replaced a toilet and it took us to Oz :lmao:; we had 24 tons of stone dropped in our driveway that we had to spread; we've had 4 trees cut down for various reasons, including a garden, which I'll probably be roto-tilling tonight; we're replacing our patio door; and we'll be replacing the eaves on the front of the house (we did the back last fall). That's at least part of the list! We may sneak in something along the way, like a trip to Calabash, NC, with our DD, DSIL and DGS. Calabash is where our DD's in-laws live. Some of the previous posts about the Myrtle Beach area restaurants have my mouth watering. That fried bologna sandwich looks great, too! We have a guy around here that makes fried pizza. I haven't tried it yet.
If anyone brings their family through Easton, PA, to visit the Crayola Factory or something, let me know!
