Checking in here, fellas. Took a little while to catch up on the 10 pages I missed. Haven't quite felt like getting on the boards lately... post WDW trip disorder or something. My DW has been getting on me about starting the TR... says it will be "therapeutic" for me. She prob has a point there. So... looks like I'll be starting that sometime in the near future. Yes... the use of the word "near" was intentional

Yup, we all have official Dis Dad's Club cards with our 16 digit member number and expiration date that we plunk down on the counter every time we go to Disney World.

We are circulating an email sign up sheet among our department (about 15 people) for a pot luck lunch we are having on Monday. One person said she would bring some jambalaya. Today she sent this message to everyone - including the Executive VP of our area.

Sorry to say I will not be here on Monday. I was notified yesterday that my Dr. has scheduled a pretty uncomfortable procedure for me on that day (colonoscopy). I promise jambalaya next time.

...and we're back. Got back from Orlando Saturday evening. We left Tuesday morning, had an early dinner at T-Rex in DTD, then hit MK all day Wed. w/ dinner at Crystal Palace followed by the dessert party. Thursday was an off day where we relaxed out by the pool drinking corona's and eating 'Cheeseburgers in Paradise" (why is it that all pool side musicians only seem to play music by Jimmy Buffet or Bob Marley?). On Friday we hit Sea World, which was 'ok' not a complete dissapointment simply because it had been close to 15 years since I'd last been there, but the heat was intense (it was over cast and breezy @ MK). We got to see the shuttle launch from Shamu Stadium which was probably the highlight of the day. We left Saturday morning, with a detour through Vero Beach to visit family (a 3 hour trip turned into 7 hours because of this).

Back to reality and already planning our next trip.

Well...I did not clear Hurdle #3.

My Dad was actually considering it...but my Mom (who is doing well after her back surgery BTW) felt that she would not be up to the trip...and I get that they are both in their mid-70's and are not in the Best of shape. She said she would rather spend a week at the beach with an Oceanfront view. Commence "Operation: 50th Anny in Myrtle."

Now I keep thinking back to clearing Hurdle #1....the wife and kids out of school one.

sorry to hear nate but you may have an angle there with dw for an up coming trip during school.

cant wait for the tr don. i went thru the same thing about 11 years ago. things at wdw were changing, just didnt have the same effect anymore.was getting to expensive to stay at car. beach. it just didnt have the same wow as it did for the last 25 years for some reason. never did put my finger on it. dw talked me into buying into dvc, (not saying thats the answer by no means) and my view of the entire place had changed. i think after riding the rides a million times, dd no longer believe that that was cinderella, it was like, ok, whats next, been there, done this. we started slowing down, enjoying the parks yes but also went hotel hopping, hay, whats over here? and hanging out on all the property. started making diner the first night on our trips to okw things like that. than the parks didnt seem like old hat anymore. i think what happens after a while is the excitement of seeing the mk parades, fireworks for the first few times fades and you dont get the same high. im here to tell you, dont give up on the place! dd will say one day, hay dad, go on the tea cups with me? and go. next trip she will say, hay dad, go on space mtn. with me? and go. hay dad, go on rockin roller coaster with me? dont go!! theres not many places were you can go and spend time with dd and it dont matter if you 10 years old or 50. tall or short, male or female.(except the restroom). my dd is going to 18 and a sr in high school. she wants to forgo a grad party and go to wdw with her mom and dad for her grad. present. she gets just excited about going now as she did when she was 5. now, dw and i are starting to plan what we are going to do on our trip as a party of 2 again. its just another step. i hope i hit some of the problem for ya.

Hi Guys....just poking my head in....scrambling around trying to get ready to leave on Sunday (You'd swear this is my first trip)

Anyway, lots and lots going on at home, but wanted to drop in and say hi!!

Todays events in AF did go over well with WIFECOM today, so I'm trying to settle her as well......MUCH easier said than done

4 more days at home.
