Hey! We're headed down this weekend for our trip. Maybe we'll run into each other. :thumbsup2 Have a great trip!
:

Thanks! You too. I just looked over your PTR, and it looks like the schedules will be off. That's the problem with having to make ADRs months in advance. You get a little locked in.

cant wait for the tr don. i went thru the same thing about 11 years ago. things at wdw were changing, just didnt have the same effect anymore.was getting to expensive to stay at car. beach. it just didnt have the same wow as it did for the last 25 years for some reason. never did put my finger on it. dw talked me into buying into dvc, (not saying thats the answer by no means) and my view of the entire place had changed. i think after riding the rides a million times, dd no longer believe that that was cinderella, it was like, ok, whats next, been there, done this. we started slowing down, enjoying the parks yes but also went hotel hopping, hay, whats over here? and hanging out on all the property. started making diner the first night on our trips to okw things like that. than the parks didnt seem like old hat anymore. i think what happens after a while is the excitement of seeing the mk parades, fireworks for the first few times fades and you dont get the same high. im here to tell you, dont give up on the place! dd will say one day, hay dad, go on the tea cups with me? and go. next trip she will say, hay dad, go on space mtn. with me? and go. hay dad, go on rockin roller coaster with me? dont go!! :lmao: theres not many places were you can go and spend time with dd and it dont matter if you 10 years old or 50. tall or short, male or female.(except the restroom). my dd is going to 18 and a sr in high school. she wants to forgo a grad party and go to wdw with her mom and dad for her grad. present. she gets just excited about going now as she did when she was 5. now, dw and i are starting to plan what we are going to do on our trip as a party of 2 again. its just another step. i hope i hit some of the problem for ya.:thumbsup2

Thanks, Dave. it does help to know that others have been through similar situations. Just to clarify any misunderstandings... I haven't given up on the place. It's more of that feeling like "why did I just spend all that money on THAT trip?" I think it will all start getting clearer when I get the TR going.

Nicely put, Dave. Don, I hate to see any trip that is a little bit of a downer. I think this is one reason we decided to keep WDW as an "every few years" trip--as a way to try and keep the magic from becoming old hat. Of course, we just want to see other places, too.

Hi Guys....just poking my head in....scrambling around trying to get ready to leave on Sunday (You'd swear this is my first trip:lmao:)

Anyway, lots and lots going on at home, but wanted to drop in and say hi!!

Todays events in AF did go over well with WIFECOM today, so I'm trying to settle her as well......MUCH easier said than done:confused3

4 more days at home.

Fed, it's always good to hear from you. Stay safe, come home quickly, and stay in touch! We'll pray for your safety, and thanks again for serving the rest of us. :thumbsup2

Well, tomorrow is departure day for our family WDW trip. We're driving for the first time, and my wife's minivan is packed. Cheeseballs will not be making the drive with us.

I also got to watch my wife have LASIK surgery this morning. Have any of you seen "A Clockwork Orange"? The instruments used bear a striking resemblance to one of the scenes in that movie.

I know that I'm on the hook for a TR for this adventure. Y'all are okay with something in the December time frame, right? I am just anxious to find out who can ride which roller coasters as judged by the almighty Disney measuring sticks.

Have a great trip! And don't worry about the TR. If you don't do one, we'll just poke fun at you. And if you do, we'll hijack it and poke fun at you. So the result is pretty much the same either way. :rotfl:

Oh, and for those Hockey fans out there GO FLYERS!!!

Fixed! :thumbsup2

Alright - I've been hiding this long enough... I will say once and for all that I DON'T LIKE CHEESEBALLS, or any kind of cracker or pasta that is made with artificial or dehydrated/modified cheese. I love cheese by itself, and on pizza or a burger - even sprinkled in shredded form on my pasta...but not when it is dried out and made into powder to flavor crackers or puffs. So you will never find cheeseballs on our trips either, at least not in large quantities. I don't deprive my kids from those things - if they want to eat them, fine with me...but I don't partake of them.

I've never, Never, NEVER liked Mac-n-Cheese. Waaaaaaaaaaaaaay way back when I was in 4th grade, my first "girlfriend" would tell me all about how when we got married she would make me hot dogs and mac-n-cheese for dinner every night... wow, what an "awesome" way to try to catch a man, hah! Such an "enticing" offer, too. She definitely must have heard that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach, but for me, it just made me want to puke, considering I hated mac-n-cheese. Still do. But that doesn't stop my DW or kids from eating it. And I do actually buy them cheese crackers and the like, in fact I just did yesterday at Costco, a great big box of the fishy kind - I just won't eat them.

So there you go. A card carrying member of the DDC who proudly, albiet a bit late, denounces one of our "most cherished" symbols... oh well. I can still laugh at those who tell stories of their kids yakking up stuff in the car (hmmm, I wonder, perhaps there's more to it there than just getting a bit car sick....)

:eek::eek::eek::scared1:

Wow. Not liking cheeseballs? Or mac-and-cheese? It's almost like saying you don't like Mom and apple pie.

This has been a traumatic week. First I find out that there are Dads here who like It's A Small World...and now this?! Suddenly, my worldview is shattered... :sad2:

:lmao:

Well, the true test of any group is a willingness to accept others, regardless of major philosophical differences such as these. I think we're strong enough to handle it. No hard feelings, Christopher.

But if it turns out that you like brussels sprouts...well, I can't be held responsible for my actions. :rotfl2:

Apple computers just seem to "work." my PC at home, my pc at work always just... hiccup. I just want to make vacation slide shows that I can put on to a DVD to watch anywhere. If a PC can do that, without driving me crazy, then fine. Otherwise, 13.3 inch Macbook may be a fathers day/birthday present.
I do all of my photo editing, video editing, and burning to DVD on my Mac, so I can verify that it works just fine. I've never done it on a PC, so I can't really help you there.
Apple spends a lot of money marketing their products just the way you perceive them - they just work. Some of it is marketing fluff, but for the most part the machines are pretty stable and user friendly. I wouldn't say they're head and shoulders above PCs in that area, but I would probably rank them just a bit higher.

I can see where you're coming from. I'll snack on a few of them if we have them around, but when I'm wandering down the snack isle at the grocery store, they're not the first thing I reach for. Especially when you start reading the ingredient list. They're more of a "special occasion" food.

I'm not opposed to cheese balls per se, it's just that I now have a healthy respect for what happens if they come back up after being eaten.
Oh, there was nothing healthy about what comes back up. :crazy2:
I'm also happy to weigh in on comparative advantages and disadvantages of various computing platforms. Sometimes I even get paid for doing so.
What type of work do you do?

Fed... I hope you and Hungry have a safe deployment.
I hope you can keep us updated from overseas.

We will all be praying for you. :thumbsup2

Holy cow.....I'm glad to know it's not just us...:lmao::lmao:

Man, I remember all my cruises I did in the Navy and EVERY time I was getting ready to go we'd get into a big argument over something. Usually something stupid... and was always my fault. I didn't understand it... until one day another married sailor (who was a little more salty than I) explained what happens. It seems that in order for the separation to go easier in their mind, they will create these arguments ahead of time so they mentally push you away before you physically leave. Doesn't make sense... but it happens!

Soooo Don... what's the limit on "your" card??? :rolleyes1

Apparently not enough to pay for your extravagant spending.... :lmao:

Well I'm trying to be considerate...I mean I am planning on going during Free Dining...and I'm just trying to figure if I should stay at the CR or GF...for 1 week or 2 weeks...upgrade to the Deluxe Dining Plan...and wheather I should get the Park Hopper, Water Parks and More, and No expiration options...also looking into the DVC down payment.

I mean it should all be 6 months no interest...sheez you should be able to get it paid off in 6 months. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

OH... OK... you should be just fine. While you're at it go ahead and book a fishing excursion or treat yourself to a massage at GF.

That should all be fine. But don't try to get a Dole Whip. That will exceed the card limit. And worst of all - you won't get your Dole Whip. :sad1:

I like watching good CM's not lose there cool at A**face guests. So I too try to stay on my best behavior. Of course, I'm a goodie-two-shoes all the time, so that's not REALLY saying anything.

I'm not sure where everyone is from, but down in South Florida, all the high schools have Grad Night @ Disney, where the school takes the seniors for an all night visit to MK. During mine in '89 my group of friends were able to smuggle in vodka disguised in hair spray bottles (plastic spritz things, it was the 80's, girls had big hair so those bottles where the norm), however, a rival HS got caught with acid and the school was barred from Grad Night for a few years afterwards. I didn't witness the actual arrest, but the story became legend in my school afterwards, it grew with each telling by the time we graduated a few weeks later, they had Mickey and Goofy kicking these kids in the head.

Growing up in So. Cal, we did that at Disneyland. It was fun. The first Grad Night ever was in 1961. My dad missed it by a year, and my mom's graduating class was just a few years after that. My brother enjoyed it as well a few years before I did. Being the Disney-geek I am, naturally I was the one the class voted for to be Grad Night Chairman...but that was pretty cool in itself... since I got to go to D-land twice in advance for official "pre-planning" tours and "preview" various attractions (read - they walked us right on as VIP's skipping the lines entirely). Then a couple of years later I went back as a Chaperone at the school's invitation.

While it's not very good, a bit blurred and I'm not looking at the camera, here's a pic of me, my date and our DDC buddy on Grad Night 1988.

Shock and horrors, I know Mark. But alas, as I constantly have to remind my children....everybody's different. Not everyone is going to like exactly what you like, or want to do exactly what you want to do. But we can still be friends, even though you all really are over on the dark side of life :darth: and I'm the odd man out. :rolleyes1 I don't mind. And no, I don't like brussels sprouts either. Spinach, yes. Alfalfa sprouts yes, but brussel sprouts - no thank you. Oh yeah...I do like Mom and Apple Pie - so you can at least rest a wee bit easier now.

very cool getting the bonus trips, I think I still have my pic from the trip, I also recently found a Facebook group from another school I went to and came across a couple of pics of me at WDW with my class, sadly, I don't even remember that trip.

At least we can all agree to give Mom our seat on the bus. :lmao:

Too much hairspray bottle vodka during that one?
:drinking1 :faint:

NO we ain't gonna take it...

That's not a problem for trennr. He brews his own Dole Whip! :stir:
