I just found this club and I am ready to join! I am a father of 2 (as my name inmplies) and I am a bigger kid then both of them put together when it comes to Disney... My wife and I went on our honeymoon in 2002 to DL, and then took the family to WDW in 2004, 2008, and 2009... We decided it is time for the adults to be the kids and we are going on an adults only trip this Nov/Dec... That's right, we are leaving the kids at home so we can be kids :thumbsup2 I am really into photography, and we have never been around christmas time, so this should be fun...

Welcome and check out the DDC planning for Dec. meet :yay: :yay:

1) I was not a Marine, so maybe stealing their slogan is not the best idea. How about "The Many, The Proud, The DIS Dads" as a pocket logo on the front, and on the back it could say, "You can have my bus seat any time."

Note taken,Sorry I dint even think if it would direspect the marines in any way.So I will take your advice and use your wording on my shirt :thumbsup2

Speaking of shirts are we ever going to get an "offical" DDC logo ? Or are we going free style?

I have already told my DW that I'm getting shirts made for every day that we are there in Oct. Would be nice to have that "Official Dis Dad Logo" on them! Maybe we should vote on everyones favorite.

i read somewhere that the DIS Dad mascot is Goofy, right?

Someone's signature(middlepat) has Goofy looking over his shoulder and says "DIS dad" under it... That'd be a pretty simple pocket logo? It also could be customized with the individual disdad #.

Did I also read there's a Disdad's trip planning thread for december? How is that one different? (other than, you know...being about december travel?)

I will wait for my member # so I can add a picture to my signature... I will come up with something a little different...

Exactly, I want the one or two "Official" shirts, then I also plan on having several different designs for the rest of the week.I just figured if we could get something out now the Dads that want them and are going soon could start to get them now.
So I suggest we take this week and all try to come up with a design we could get Don to put them all on first page then have a vote and make it official

What???? Emma's Dad has not come around to give you your number yet????
I am sure he will be around shortly,he is probably busy with his TR right now.He has had several updates over the last month so he is probably trying to recoup from it.:rotfl2:

I wish I could say that. It looks like the closest I'll get is the trip this year to Wilderness Lodge. The All Star and PoP busses, leaving parks at night, are just jammed packed. I've never seen a monorail car or boat crammed as full as the buses. After staying at a Moderate, we purchased DVC. Moving away from the value resort buses was one of the deciding factors.

Trying to get back to the POP from Downtown Disney at closing time with two big bags from the Lego store and a sleeping 3 y/o was one of the worst experiences i've had there. I swear it was 6 buses before we got on one, we were renting strollers at the parks so I had to carry DS the whole time we waited because he was sleeping. Took about 3 days for my back to get back to normal, on the plus side; small world on muscle relaxants and vicodin is quite amusing.

It is an extra expense but we always rent a car, I have never been on a Disney bus. With a car we can travel to and from the parks on our time and if we book through AAA we park close enough to the front of the parking lot that we can walk and never have to take the tram. If you stay on resort parking is free at the parks and other resorts. We like to go to the different resorts for dinner and character dining and having a car simplifies and shortens travel time. Unfortunately we have made various trips to emergency medical centers on Disney trips and we also like to have the option to get to a supermarket or drug store easily.

3) "Hey Bartender! Jobu needs a refill!"

"You trying to say Jesus Christ can't hit a curveball?" :rotfl2:

As far a Dis Dad's Logos, we had a few ideas. Don has posted links to them in post #2 of this thread. If anyone has mad Photoshop skilz, feel free to tweak any existing logo or come up with your own and share it. Our original plan was to order nice custom embroidered shirts, hats, etc from threadsmith.com. However, they shut down in January "for a few short months". (Turns out their parent company was bought out and they are merging their systems with the new owner). Hopefully they will be open soon or we can find a similar company.
Anyway, they offered many different styles of shirts, hats, backpacks, etc. Everyone could pick their own item(s) and colors and add the logo to it.
We stayed away from using any Disney characters due to copyright laws. Would Disney care if we used Goofy on a shirt? Probably not, especially if we weren't selling it. But we didn't want to take the chance.:confused3

Welcome to the club! I believe Middlepat is collecting the dues payments :rotfl2:

wow, everyone working today???

Tell me about it. Over 2 hours with out a post? The mod's must be scratching their heads wondering why their servers are running so much better and their bandwidth isn't all clogged up! :surfweb:

Inconceivable!

Here is a funny story for all you hard (and I use this term loosely) working dads.

Police: Robbers Called Bank To Get Money Ready
Man, Teen Arrested At Bank

FAIRFIELD, Conn. -- Fairfield police said even they were surprised by the actions of these criminals: two would-be robbers called a bank ahead of time to get the money ready and were arrested at the scene.
Fairfield police said they arrested Albert Bailey, 27, and an unidentified 16-year-old boy on robbery and threatening charges Tuesday afternoon at the People's United Bank branch on Stratfield Road.

Sgt. James Perez said the two Bridgeport residents called the bank and told a worker to get a bag of money ready. Perez said they showed up at the bank 10 minutes later, but police had been notified and arrested the suspects in the parking lot.

Perez told the Connecticut Post he classifies the suspects as "not too bright."
It's not clear if Bailey and the teen have lawyers.
