Welcome to all you new members. Enjoy. Thanks Aaron for posting on the Dis unplugged board. Should have thought of that. I responded to your post on that forum with the following...

Glad you found us Aaron and thanks for posting here. I stumbled on the group a couple of months ago and have found a few things.

1. We do stray off topic a lot. The mods seem to leave us alone because they know it would be a waste of time.

2. If you confess to doing something stupid, (which seems second nature to most of us) you will get taunted. I know this from actual experience. Skin needs to be thick.

3. In order to join, you need to ask Emma’s Dad when he is going to finish his trip report.

Actually it is a great group of dads who love their families and Disney.

Happy Birthday to He who will not finish his TR.

Okay, you twisted my arm, can I join this bunch of sports nuts, car enthusiasts, guys with kids (see note), and otherwise Disney fanatics. I think I qualify.

Notes

1. 69 year old father of 2, grandfather of 5
2. married 45 years to the same princess
3. visit Disney at least twice a year
4. Fort Wilderness Campground is my favorite resort
5. Nacoossee's is my favorite on-property restaurant

:dancer::welcome::dancer: To the Dis Dads, Emma's Dad will be around to give you your member # :yay:

That list about sums it up. It's important to note, however, that our taunting is not mean-spirited. It's more of the Sports Bar/All of Us Idiots Are In This Together-type taunting.

You have been added to the DIS Dad's Club list :thumbsup2

Thanks, everyone for the Happy Birthdays!! Not quite to the 4-0 yet... but getting closer every year! :rotfl2:

OK... my occupation... I've worn many hats since my high school days... joined the Navy at 18 and became a nuclear propulsion electronic operator. Our division kept the nuclear reactors up and running on the aircraft carriers. Interesting job... but got bored of the engineering aspect. Got out of the Navy after 8 1/2 years and decided to get into computers. I now work for a local healthcare company as a software engineer. but don't let the title fool you... my main focus lately has been database stuff. Our team is building an enterprise data warehouse (basically a really big database) and then using business intelligence tools to display useful information to our execs. Interesting stuff! :teacher:

Cool, I had no idea this group was around but just saw the post on the Podcast board. I would like to join as well if I am so allowed. I am 40 years young and have 3 kids (DS9, DD7, DS4) and have been married to my beautiful wife  for 13.5 years. I am a total Disney addict and am ashamed to admit that I meet SEVERAL of the criteria on the first post. :lmao: We go to WDW or DL anywhere from 2 - 6 times a year and our next trip is with the DIS ABD trip in April in California. Hopefully I have what it takes to be a proud member of this group and I would be honored to join you all. :worship:

:)

Welcome Bill! BUT...there's absolutely NO reason to be ashamed of meeting some of our criteria! As one who actually personally added at least 10 of those list items himself... just know that you are in great company here. But say it again and we'll have to banish you to Universal or Sea world:lmao::rotfl2: Enjoy!

Ok, I admit, I have my phone with me...but I have 15 guys (and 2 gals) spread all over the world at any given time.....given where they are, they need to be able to get me if at all possible---HOWEVER, it is restricted to emergencies only---:lmao::lmao::lmao: It stays on vibrate and only gets answered where appropriate---like NOT on POC:confused3:rotfl2:

I got texted by a Canadian on it once, too:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Otherwise I will call for directions or to line up chow at Rainforest Cafe, track down other party members etc. etc....

WELCOME

:welcome:
To all our newest Dads! I you are on Facebook...come check us out there too, as we have our own group page presence over there as well. Lots more fun to be had, great pics and discussions too. See ya over there real soon!

A friend is starting looking at possibly considering booking her FIRST trip for her and her family to WDW!!! Right now, she's just pricing, playing on the disney website, and reading some of the books. I have given her just as many reasons as I can to go. Shows, food, rides, kids, resorts, anything I can think of. I told her to check out DISBoards, and just lurk for a while. Read what the fans think, read a trip report or 30:surfweb: Long story longer, She's "mostly sure" she's going in about a year.
And if any disdads will be at POR beween Christmas & New Years, I'll be at whatever the pub at POR is called around 11:30 most nights. If anyone's interested in planning grabbing a pint 10 months from now, that's where I'll be:thumbsup2.

*sigh* Anyways, were's the best website (trusted) where I can purchase the perfect family package for disney world. I did the create a package at disney website and it came out to $1600 for famliy of 4, value resort, base MYW tickets for 5 days. BTW it also came with $300 dollar gift card. So I guess its as good as it gets...right?!?!?
