Hey fellow DISDads, I have a question about shoes at WDW. I have flat feet - REALLY flat feet - and have a terrible time finding shoes that are comfortable for a full day of walking. I've been wearing Doc Martens almost exclusively, every day for the past fifteen years or so. I'm concerned that the Docs are going to be unduly heavy (and therefore tiring) for a week of walking around WDW. Any suggestions for alternatives? I've pretty much given up on athletic shoes for anything but wearing to play sports in, as wearing them for an extended period of time causes my non-existant arch to ache.

I don't have flat feet...but LL Bean Summer Sneakers have always worked well for me...the style I've used for my last few trips doesn't exist anymore.

Looks like it's replacement is now this...these don't have much in way of an arch...but it does have some support there so may or may not work for you.
LLBEAN

Everyone else in my family likes Crocs...I tried a pair this last trip for one day and that was enough...never again...but they may work for you.

now look before anyone starts on me i have to say that i know that these may be the bane of some peoples life but i dont care i'm just going to say it.....have you tried croc's.for two trips my mrs tried to get me to buy some and i flat out refused...(i also have quite flat feet) but on our last trip i got a bad blister on our first day and could not wear any of my shoes and flip-flops as you know are no good for parks.i got a pair of croc;s out of desperation of buy them or spend the day in our hotel room and they were a foot sensation.as soon as i get home they go on my feet and i wore them around the house and garden all last summer and they look like new and still make me feel great......ok i've said it....so shoot me

I won't shoot - I own a pair of crocs, and wore them a lot this summer. I was just worried a bit about wearing them all day around the parks and the possibility of blisters. This is encouraging.

I have a pair too (Mickey Crocs, though, so that makes me cool again:thumbsup2). I've never warn them to the parks, though, as I never had the need. Maybe this trip I'll give them a test run.

I also have a pair of Mickey Crocs but I was not as fortunate with my experience in the park. I have flat (and wide) feet and I have had good luck with New Balance Cross Trainers. They are the only shoes I can wear for a full day of walking.

I gotta share this one with you guys. Not a Dis Dad Igloo, but this thing is cool. This guy built it this past weekend in Southern Virginia and they have had it on the local news a couple of times. Tonight, one of the reporters was sledding though it.

At intermission, Evan wanted to come with me to the bathroom until he caught site of a "tractor" on the ice. He went back to his seat and I'm told he watched the Zamboni as intensely as he has ever done anything in his life. :rotfl:

FreezinRafiki, you gotta check out this video for Evan.
Zamboni Song

No No No they are saying another 14 -18 inches for weds.:furious::badpc::badpc::badpc: We have had more snow this year than the last 7 years combined:eek::scared1::sick:

I've never worn crocs in my life, everyone I know who has a pair swear by them and wear them in the parks. I also wear the New Balance cross trainers all summer and in the parks any time we go. The shoes are very lite and I have never had tired feet at the end of the day.

Now that snowman is awesome, there is only a small allowance for making sure you get through there on a sled. I see disaster at some point, I know with my kids after a while they would be aiming to see who could miss.:lmao:

I have both regular and Mickey crocs - but I don't wear them into the parks. Only my Nike's in the parks. I find the crocs very comfortable for hanging around and casual wear, but not extensive walking.

I first got them for going to Summer Camp with the Boy Scouts - and they work great in that situation. Kind of like my old Tevas did, except they are closed toe which are the only kind of footwear allowed in camp. Plus they work well as water shoes for the showerhouse and pretty quick to dry out afterwards. I wear my boots in camp much more so I don't wear them much in camp, but definitely by the water front & to the showers. To me they're okay, but my DW swears by hers and wears them alot!!

Zambonis are always cool. Man Law. :thumbsup2

As far as that snowman igloo goes, that is cool! No way I'll top that. Even with the extra foot and a half of snow we're supposed to get tonight. :scared1:

I find it ironic that they're trucking in snow for the Vancouver Olympics next week. Maybe they should just move the Games to the Mid-Atlantic States. Although I guess watching the Downhill Skiing "Live from Camelback Mountain in the Poconos" doesn't have quite the same ring to it as Vancouver. :rotfl2:

They are limiting the practice they are allowing to try and save the snow. It's crazy, how little snow we have gotten this year. I have never seen it like this. We are supposed to get a little snow here in southern ontario tonight but only about an inch or two. I am a little further north and may not get any, this storm is coming from you great folks from the south.

Strange winter.:confused3

Ain't in the truth. We've been hit with one Nor'Easter after another. I imagine folks in our 2 locales would have quite different takes on the issue of global warming!

hey guys have any of you hired golf clubs at resort before...i dont know if you guys get the same when you buy your park tickets but if we buy the 14 day pass in the uk we get free golf but i dont want to cart my clubs 5000 miles when i might only play once if at all.

Hey what did we catch at Toho?

A cold first off...:lmao::lmao:

Nothing Huge, cold front pushed em off the beds, but I did catch 7 fish, biggest went 3.5#'s

No snow for us, but getting colder, it's going to be 38 tomorrow night:rotfl2:

Break out the electric blankets:rotfl:

To all of my snowbound brothers:

Da Yoopers are a band out of Ishpeming, MI. (Residents of Michigan's Upper Peninsula, or U.P. are called UPers or Yoopers - thus the band name). I first heard this song when I was probably 12 years old. And it runs through my head like clockwork every time I grab a snow shovel. And now you will too. You're welcome.

Hey fellow DISDads, I have a question about shoes at WDW.

I wear tennis shoes for everything. (Yes, even those black ones with my suit because I believe I am really fooling others.) I alternate tennis shoes and the Payless brand of crocs through the parks at WDW.

DW has flat feet and went to a Podiatrist. He designed an orthodic (sp?) that she can remove and insert in multiple shoes. It's not like the TV info commercial device. She said that it has greatly helped her feet.
