Hey guys thought I would stop by and say hi. It has been a long few days, but it looks like our lives are getting back to normal. My wife came home last night from the hospital and is feeling better. Still sore from the c-section but better. Gabe is still in the hospital in NICU but is doing much better. The lab results came back over the weekend showing a staph infection in his blood. The Doctors were pretty concerned about it to the point where they felt it might be a result of meningitis. They did a lumbar punture (spinal tap) to test for meningitis. The test came back negative. They took a second blood culture to comfirm the first reading and the second test came back negative. They then had to take a third test and that also came back negative :banana:. That was a huge sigh of relief. The doctors are convined that it was a cross contamination issue in the laboratory. They were able to identify the type from the first test and it is something that is commonly found on skin. They did say though that he had some type of infection based on the initial blood results (high counts of red and white blood cells) and the low grade fever. The good thing was, when they put him in NICU Thursday night after his birth they immediatly put him on a general antibiotic which cured the infection.

With all that being said, he should be able to come home on Friday!:banana: It is a heck of a start for the little man but he is strong. Thank you all for the well wishes and prayers. I gotta tell you guys, sitting in the hospital and reading through these posts and having something to laugh at was great.

Again, thank you.

Kevin

Kevin that's awesome to hear. :thumbsup2 It's good Tonya is home and will be back to normal soon (my wife had 3 c-sections, and by the third was up and around like normal after only a few days) - but even better that Gabe is doing alright and will be home soon.

Keep us posted, and we'll be sure to help provide some more entertainment for you from time to time! :rotfl:

Glad to see the little man is doing well and will be Home soon:goodvibes

When he gets home you can start Disney 101:teacher: to catch him up with everything he will need to know about WDW.
Lesson 1
Por favor mantengase alejado de las puertas:lmao:

Kevin, Awesome news! Best to be careful in that newborn period. Our oldest was in the NICU, too, and you'd never know it now! Still remember it like it was yesterday, though it was 11 years ago. Scary time.

Although I'd love to see the little guy at Disney this spring, probably a good idea to keep him away from crouds and sick people for the first 3 months.

Congrats!

Glad to hear that your wife is doing well. I am sure there were some sad moments with her having to leave to go home and Gabriel to still be there in the hospital. Glad that he is doing well and that the tests are coming back negative . Here's hoping that by the end of the week you will all be under the same roof!:wizard:

Wow, Kevin. That is quite the rough start! I'm glad to hear your wife is home and Gabe will be soon. Let the sleep deprivation begin! :thumbsup2

Or maybe it already has... :confused3

The Band/Group/"Artist" the remade "Careless Whispers" should have their man cards revoked.

:sad2:

Kevin

Kevin, great news give DW extra hugs and all this week, It is very hard to go home if the little guy is not, for both of you. still keeping you and yours in our prayers. keep us posted :grouphug: :grouphug:pixiedust:pixiedust:

BARRY , did you see the blue skies at akv this morning?

No. I'm trying to bring the live stream up a work, and it's not loading. Which is very odd, because I'm the guy that runs the web filtering/blocking system for my company. :thumbsup2
I guess I'll have to take up valuable work time to find out why I can't see live streaming video from Disney World. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

That's great news! My DS had a bit of a rough few first days and had to have the lumbar puncture done as well, .....I have this theory that all the IV's DS had in the first week gave him some sort of super charged immune system;

Glad to hear all is well. When DW was 3 months pregnant with our youngest child, she was diagnosed with viral meningitis. She had to have the spinal tap and was pumped with all sorts of drugs at the hospital. It was really scary. Praise the Lord, DW fine and DD (5) born healthy and doing great. She rarely was sick, but did have to have tubes (ears), and did have to have her tonsils out. While both my children are average weight and above average height, my youngest feels heavier, more solid that the oldest and is definitely stronger. I call her my supergirl and attribute it to all the drugs.
