Ok Guys I need a little help here.I have a decision to make here.

Looking at trip in Dec 2010.Would like to go Nov 24 through Dec 4th, this would allow us the most time with taking the kids out of school the least. The problem is I know it gets mobbed Thanksgiving and that weekend. So if its that crowded would the kids enjoy it? ( is it worse then Aug crowds). We have been there before the same time frame but stayed away from the parks until the Monday following Thanksgiving, but this time we would like to do the parks as soon as we get there.

The other option is to go Dec 3 through Dec 11th this would involve taking kids out of school one more day ( Kids are good students in elementary school one in jr high(she is straight A) ).Would it really hurt to take them out that one extra day?. :teacher:

With both options I have to take them out of school which I dont really like to do ,but have change my thinking to allow it.
Option one gives me a little more time there but does not put me there with the rest of the Dis Dads.
I think both options have a chance of being there when the parade taping is going on.( which with the 5 kids I am not sure the crowd will go over to well with them)

I think I am leaning to the 3rd - 11th

oh what to do??:confused3:confused3

We went the weekend after Thanksgiving a few years ago. It was busy, but not unbearable (not nearly as bad as what I hear week between Christmas and New Years is). I judge crowd levels by the Florida resident seasonal pass blackout dates: dates that are blacked out are extremely busy. Thanksgiving weekend is not blacked out. Just my two cents - if the extra day out of school isn't a big deal, it would probably be more enjoyable going in Dec...

#3? Wow.... I feel like I left my home town, came home and did not recognize anything. I'm glad all of my old friends are still around. Any Dis Dad's going to be in Orlando from march 28th to April 3rd?

FANATIC!! Welcome back! :cool1: Hope you like the place... I tried to keep the old look/feel but add a little dimension to it :thumbsup2

Our family will be going 30 days later than those dates. Would be nice to meet up with you some day.

So the debate is over longer stay vs crowd level... For a straight A student, they've earned the chance to miss a little more school. I'd go with the 3rd to 11th and enjoy the more peaceful, lighter crowds. Plus that's pretty much the same time as my trip. And I think that as dad #400, I'm on the hook for buying a cold one for any dis dads I see.:drinking1

So how was dinner?! I take it you fight over who pays the bill too? :rotfl:

:lmao: it was good!! we have been married for 25 years, we dont fight about anything anymore, life is to short, we just have fun. she had to go into new york city for the day for work so she text me about dinner. so we met at the rest. our conversation was how we both were tired and wanted to take a shower and go to bed. in our house, who ever gets out of the shower last has to wipe the walls down. so, that led to the race home. :lmao: i would have tripped her but she goes in the back and i go into the front door.she had a straight shot to the bathroom. our dd was on the phone when we came in and you can hear her laughing, she said to her girlfriend, my parents are racing again.:lmao: yes, were 44 years old. :lmao:

I quit but have started again. How about a challenge? Taking DD and 6 GFs next weekend so it is not going to happen next week but what about the week after? Can we do this? You in? Willing to make a wager if you are interested.

I'm not a gambling man (that's one vice I thankfully never picked up), but some friendly competition, coupled with some good trash talking always helps. I've got a bit of a head start, I jumped and already started, I'm not 100% smoke free but am cutting down dramatically, only five so far today, by this time, I'd normally have smoked over ten so I'm halfway there I think. Tomorrow I want to drop that number even more. My goal is to go 'cold turkey' beginning Saturday. I'm pretty motivated to do this, it's something I'd been thinking about for a while, something I'd been hen pecked to death about, but it's also something that I've been doing since I was 12 years old. It's more than an addiction, it's a way of life, it's my best friend. But, I'm going to give it my best shot, and if i slip and it takes me longer, then when you're ready, we'll help each other through it. This year will not end with a cigarette in my hand!!!!

if your going to ride rides, i would go the 3-11. option 1 you probley wont get on to much but if your plaining on staying away from the parks than go for the first option.

I'd go with Dec 3-11... a very informative cast member told me the weeks after Thanksgiving and prior to Christmas were the absolute best times to come for low crowd levels...he said "it would be you and cast members." A bit of an stretch...but probably not far from it.

I really would like to go during this time someday. But DW feels pretty strongly about not taking the kids out of school.

I think DW is getting the last laugh on this one. DVC = yes, under one conition. a BIG ONE. HUGE!

I have to quit smoking.........

you can do it man!!! i smoked 21/2 packs a day for many years. in 2003 i quit. it will be tuff for a few days. every time you get an urge, take deep breaths and it will pass. an urge only last for a few min.when the next urge comes, take deep breaths and think about something else,it will pass. day by day, the urges get less and less. its a fight but you can do it. i chewed on a strawl for 2 weeks and drank dunkin donuts coffee by the gallons!!!:thumbsup two weeks, youll be home free. keep busy, after dinner, get up, clear the table, dont sit there.after a few days you will start feeling light headed, thats the oxygen getting back into your brain.(feels like your teen years if you know what i mean.) every day the urges get less and it will get easier!!! i couldnt take two steps without having a smoke till i started coughing up blood one night and that scared the h out of me. you will feel a million bucks better and it will give you the fight to keep going. if you ever want to talk, pm me and we can talk. my dw quit the same time i did, that was fun.:lmao: i wouldnt do the gum or patch thats just putting nicot. in your system another way. think of it as being an alchi, stay away from the old habits, smokin pals, places etc... dont try smoking a cigar or a pipe, its like giving the keys to the beer barn to a drunk. hard candy or lolli pops work well. im on the road so its hard to think about not smoking when you in a car all day but i did it. you will be able to taste food and you wont stink anymore. you will say i cant believe i smelled like that! trust me. :thumbsup2

TRACTOR PULL ON LIVE!!!! barry, they have about 5 lanes going on at one time in dif. weight class'. they just made an anoun. if your not pullin to turn off your tractor to keep the fumes down!!:lmao: there inside!!! they have some tractors using lp gas. farm alls, deeres, olivers. im not a farmer but my best man grew up on a farm and his family owned keystone dehidrators. crew corn and alphalpha.( botch the spelling:lmao:) towards the end of them owing the company, they had those huge j.ds w/ 4 wheels in the back, 4 wheel drive the thing had everything in it like a caddy. now hes a sales man. for a company that sells gps products to farms. i remember him in 4th grade, he worked on the farm before and after he came to school.

Great Job on the video's:thumbsup2, we want to hit Ice on the Dec trip. We know that was you singing Ice Ice Baby:mic::rotfl2::lmao:

Mom was miserable, but then again, she didn't want to take my advice on what to wear, relying mostly on the parka. She lasted about 15 minutes. The little one didn't handle it too well either. The older one was ok until the ice slide.

I'm glad we went, but it's probably something we'll never do again, too much money, and with mom and the little one suffering, we had to zip through it. I've since referred to ICE as the most expensive cup of complimentary hot chocolate ever as we spent more time sitting in the lobby drinking it than we spent in the attraction itself.

... but the worst was on the playground when a few of the kids were pushing each other and he went Chuck Norris on them (he's been taking Karate since he turned 2 and is a blue belt)

Maybe school does not like that, but I am happy to see kids fight back when others are pushing/ picking on them. Too often, we teach them not to fight, but the bullies still keep to pick on them and no one helps the others. My two DDs (7,5) could not fight their way out of a wet paper bag. I have taught them how to tackle, drive with their legs, plant their head, wrap their arms, and drive them into the ground. I even let them practice on me, and they hit really hard. Yet, the oldest comes home last year with a new favorite color because a girl she wants to be friends with likes that color :eek::eek:

I agree with Dave, do not do the patch or gum, just go cold turkey. I started out on the patch and realized that everytime I drop a level I will have to go through that withdraw again. I stopped the patch early and went cold turkey from there. I chewed on straws, ate peppermint anything and took a lot of walks. It was not easy, I was a 1-2 pack a day for 22 years, but being smoke free for over three years (as of 1050 hrs 12-25-06) I would never go back.

I needed that one thing to motivate me. Mine was my oldest son asking me when I was going to die of lung cancer. That was enough.

I am available to talk to either one of you guys whenever. PM me if you need me. Good luck and stick with it. It is not easy but if you put your mind to it...you can accomplish anything!

Alright dads...tomorrow will be two weeks to go to we have our third DS! Can not wait to meet this one. So far I have two that are huge Disney fans, and I am looking forward to introducing the new one to Disney. Tonight we finished the babys room and the 3 yo found a goofy stuffed animal in the crib. He got pretty upset that we were wasting Goofy on him. His response "Thats my Goofy, not Gabes Goofy"! The baby isn't even here yet and the fighting is starting. Good times!:thumbsup2
