Don't make me break out It's a Small World!

C'mon, who doesn't love a round or two of:

"It's a world of laughter; a world of tears.
Its a world of hope and a world of fears.
There's so much that we share
That its time we're aware
It's a small world after all....."

(Sorry, had to do it)

NO! NO! Anything but that!

I’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts... Deedle dee dee There they are all standing in a row... Big ones, small ones, some as big as your head... :lmao:

I believe that laughter is God's reward to us for just enjoying the things around us. This evening I took a long walk around San Diego's downtown and the Harbor area and just found so many things to enjoy.

As I walked beside the harbor where the Nautical museum is, I heard a little girl behind me say 'Mommy, look at the chickens!' I look over toward the dock and see Seagulls and just laughed a bit to myself. I later walked back by that same area and noticed that there is an art sculpture called Popcorn Chicken that looks like a giant tub of Popcorn but has little yellow chicks on top. I then laughed a little at myself.

I walked a bit further and saw a lone Sea Lion swimming back toward the ocean. Sad thing is that there wasn't a child anywhere near that could have appreciated it like I did. I wish my kids were here.

Around to the private boat docks and someone commented about a dog walking behind it's Master out on the dock to a boat. A few seconds later, I heard a loud Honk and looked on top of the man's boat to see a large crane standing on top of his boat. The dog perked up it's ears and the man pointed out to the dog where the bird was. Of course the dog just wanted to jump straight up to the top of the boat to get the offender. The crane took of when the dog started jumping up and then the chase was on. Of course, when you have a short dock to run on and your adversary has the whole sky, the game just isn't fair.

A few steps later, new beginnings as I walked past a wedding party taking pictures. Then past one of the 100 or so Pedicabs that I saw. The driver speaks up to me and asks 'How ya 'doin boss?' my reply was something like 'Doin good, and you?' 'Living the dream' he replied. At that moment I realized how many Bert's that are still doing the odd jobs because they Do what they likes and they likes what they do.

As I return to my hotel in the middle of downtown San Diego, I see a short bed pickup truck roll by with a family of five in the cab and a Shamu stuffed animal that took up the entire bed of the truck. I wondered as I entered the lobby, what will they do with that thing when they get home? The hotel Manager must have thought that I was nuts when I passed by him since I probably had a big stupid grin on my face.

Don't know why I'm posting this. Just felt like sharing. Maybe its wishing the family was here with me. Maybe its working in a hot steel box all day. Maybe it was the tacos...

I get that way sometimes......especially when I'm so far away from family, and I miss them.

I miss my son running around the kitchen counter yelling "Da Da" when I get home from work. I miss sitting with him and reading a book, just because, ya know, he brought it to me. I miss the excited garbs and gurgles he gets when he sees I'm hooking up the boat.

I miss watching him dance to the imagination movers. I miss my early morning jogs with him in the stroller while mom is still sleeping---coffee is always ready when I get back.

I miss chasing him around the back yard, with him squealing the whole way. I miss him doing the "Ayatollah of RocknRolla" (Heartbreak Ridge) in the back of my truck after I pick him up from Day care (long story, but it involves my younger days, Sirius' Hair Nation in my truck, and my teaching my son some "habits":rotfl2:)

I really miss my wife...weird sleeping in a twin bed, alone after all these years. I really miss my pillowtop mattress---let's just say I'm up close and personal with a few springs out here:mad:

I miss playing with our Golden Retriever and watching the competition between her and my son over who can get the ball first!!! Who knew a tennis ball could be so fun??

I, in general, miss my family---

Ok, I'm going to stop now, I have way to long to go to be getting this philosophical already...:lmao::lmao:

Of course, every now and then I call her, and she's frazzled, and he's screaming in the background, and I think...wow, sure is quiet out here--PLEASE GOD don't let me slip up and say that in front of her:lmao::lmao::lmao::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I can competely sympathize with all those dads who are gone from family. I have been doing this oilfield thing for a long time now and I think that I have only been home for one birthday for each of my kids. I have missed every major event over the last three years. It is terribly hard, but I know that my sacrifice will pay off when even bigger things come up down the road. I grew up very poor, and it is a relief to me to know that my kids have everything they need, and could ever want. I have nothing but respect for all those dads who are out working to give their families a little something better.

:lmao: sounds like a last minute packer like my wife and dd!!:lmao: im draggin dw to dicks tonight to see if i can find sneakers. than were stopping to get our snacks for the van. all i need is slim jims and munchos and im fine!!:lmao: you would never guess my choles. is 178!!:lmao: ill be on vacation, vacations dont count when watching choles!!:lmao:

Dave: I dragged my DW to Dick's today to get sneakers for her for our trip. She didn't find any there that she liked but she did find a pair a LL Bean at the Promenade. And, we went to a town yard sale in Tatamy this morning and I walked away with a Disney Mickey jacket for $5!!! It's in real nice shape and has the Head Cheese himself embroidered on the front and MICKEY spelled out across the back. It's fleece lined and has a hood to boot. It should work great down there in October! I'm ready!

You're down to 35 days...must mean that I am down to 32 ha ha:thumbsup2

You guys are making me jealous. We still have 69 days to departure (71 to arrival at WDW).

Still a bit premature to start packing, but I have the cravings already.

One thing that was great is I was able to get all the ADRs that we wanted. Our youngest has food alergies and is recovering from kidney failure that happened in January so TS was required for most meals as there are a number of dietary restrictions for her. We signed up for the DxDDP since we have so many TS meals, but with the young ones I think we got a winning line up here.

We arrive sometime on Nov 8 (Sunday) and have not scheduled any ADRs to allow for potential weather related delays (we are driving).

Let me know what you think and if there are any suggestions for switches:

Nov 9:
8:10 Crystal Palace
11:50 Tony's Town Square
6:15 Cinderella's Dinner @ 1900 Park Fare

Nov 10:
8:00 Donald's Safari Breakfast @ AK
11:30 Yak & Yeti
5:25 O'hanas

Nov 11:
8:15 Chef Mickey
Lunch - Sunshine Seasons (CS that is supposedly a good place for alergenistas)
6:05 Coral Reef (one of our favorites)

Nov 12:
7:45 Kona Cafe
12:30 Mama Melrose
5:25 Whispering Canyon Cafe

Nov 13:
8:05 Cinderella's Royal Table
11:45 The Plaza
5:35 Kona Cafe

Thanks for any insights. I also have a few spreadsheets (yes I'm one of THEM) for finances, for schedules, and for tracking things like DDP credits etc.

middlepat: Hey, you're arriving on my birthday! Maybe they'll let you do a park for free! :lmao: Depending on how late you get in, you might want to try DTD for a meal. There are plenty of restaurants down there and you probably won't need an ADR. Wolfgang Puck's Express is good and there is a Rainforest Cafe. Raglan Road (Irish) is getting good reviews, too.

We haven't been to most of the restaurants you are planning. We do like breakfast at Kona Cafe (Tonga Toast for me) and my spreadsheet (yep!) has Yak and Yeti down for this trip. Our favorite restaurant is Boma at AKL. We did eat at Mama Melrose's many years ago and it was pretty good. We have ADR's for Tutto Italia in EPCOT (first time); LTT in MK; Trail's End Buffet at FW; 50's Prime Time at DHS; Boma, of course; and Raglan Road at DTD.

My DW has a wheat/gluten allergy and we've never had a problem at any of the full-serve restaurants at WDW. We let them know in advance and a chef always comes out to the table to go over the menu with her. At Trail's End, the chef even prepared a special chicken meal for her that wasn't on the buffet.

Thanks for the suggestions on our arrival night, we'll have to see what time we arrive and either head to DTD if its later, or we might go to MK if we get there early enough in the morning (scheduled arrival if all works out).

I agree about the quality of Disney's service regarding allergies. I reached out to them and received a bunch of info regarding doing Disney with alergies. We have supplied them with our ADR reservations and they said that a chef will talk to us.

We have been so tentative about going out to eat for the past 2 years with DD that I'm looking forward to working with a company that makes it easy to be a bit different.
:thumbsup2

No Flames! Hearing that song makes me realize I'm in the MK but I do kinda get tired of it by the last room! :lmao:

Our plans are: 10/4 ~ Check-in at POFQ and DTD for a late dinner; 10/5 ~ EPCOT; 10/6 ~ MK; 10/7 ~ AK and Bob Jackson at POR in the evening; 10/8 ~ DHS; 10/9 ~ Park Hop; 10/10 ~ Return home (it's over already?!??!! :confused3).

Dave: Next time we're in Nazareth, we'll do a drive-by to check your mailbox! I have a great aunt at Moravian Square and we do yard sale in Naz so we'll get there eventually. For yard sales, we mostly look for stuff for the grandkids.

35 Days!!!!!
