OK, just a day or two ago there was a thread about messy, cluttered homes and how we (some of us) are tired of living in them.

Let's unite! I need to declutter almost every room in my house. I need to dust the tops of my kitchen cabinets. I need to get my scrapbook stuff organized so I can start my dd's baby book (she is almost 2!).

So, where to start? I think I will sit down and write up a gameplan. I need to go a bit slow, since I am not completely healed from surgery. List the things in each room (of my house) that need to be tackled and go from there. When you get a room (or a closet...don't forget the closets) done, come back and post your boast! Maybe you could provide hints to all the other clutter-impaired folks like me!

Who knows? Some of you may find enough stuff for a yard sale. Maybe it will buy you an extra day at Disney!!!

Good Luck! I think it will be hard work, but imagine the room you are in RIGHT NOW being clean and decluttered!

You can't actually see any of my clutter. I keep it hidden!! But yes, I need to go through the closets and cabinets and clean out the clutter.

My sons are 5 and 7 and all of their baby "memories" and pictures are in a wooden chest - not organized. Isn't that sad?? My 5 year old is starting kindergarten, so I'm planning to get organized!!

Let's support each other through the large task at hand. :sunny:

Can I just hire someone else to declutter my house? I'd rather sit here on the DISboards all day!!!

Count me in! I need to reorganize (okay organize) my entire house. I plan to start with my living room tonight. Ever since we came home from vacation we have had two storage containers stacked in the corner. They don't have an offical "home" because we bought them new for the trip. Tonight they will find a home & everything else in there that doesn't belong will find its way to its rightful home. I will also vacuum the ceiling fan, dust & vacuum.
Tomorrow I will tackle a different room - either DS1s or the family room.

I have been meaning to do this. I had to invite some people over next week so that I will be forced to follow through.

Yey!! Glad to have some support in this. I keep a lot of my clutter hidden as well, but I still hate it. The office/craft room basically is just clutter with a computer (dh's) and crafts under it. The door is always closed!

I am going to start with the bathrooms. No, I don't have much clutter in them, but I do have some stuff I could organize and they need to be cleaned. Dh was 'in charge' of the house after my surgery, so....well, let's just say the bathrooms need to be cleaned! Don't even get me started on what I had to pack in DS6's 'lunch' today :p .

OOOOOHHHHH! Yes I want to hire someone. But they have to come while DH is at work - he just won't understand paying someone to organzie my stuff.

Mind if I join in? I could use the "push" to keep it going.

Ashley

I think I will try, I have got closets that you can't even get into! Not counting drawers and cabinets.

I always have good intentions, but sometimes I don't know where to start so I don't :goodvibes

My name is Dyan and I have a clutter problem!

Do we set a goal and then report back, just to keep us on track? By this time next week, I would like to declutter my DD's bedroom drawers and the toy corner in her room (not ready to tackle her closet yet! :earseek: ).

I actually just finished all the kids' drawers now onto the closets. You would think the house wouldn't be so cluttered-we have only lived here 8 mths. And we moved from a 1100 sq ft house to a 1800 sq ft house. It must have spread out. :confused3

Welcome all who are pestered by clutter! Dyan, that sounds fine. I just wanted to have a 'support group' for all of us because it is just so daunting.
I figure if everyone comes on and says what they need to do and then when they have completed it, it will be interesting! I think even the smallest drawer clean-out should be posted about!

Good luck! Can't wait to tell dh that he needs to declutter the garage... :love2:

I am not going to even try to get this house clean until the kids go back to school in two weeks. After that I am going to enjoy being in a clean & quiet house. :)

we have been de-cluttering all summer. We are on vacation this week, so we have been painting and doing little repair jobs that we have put off for years.

We had so much clutter that we rented a truck to take things to the transfer station. We have taken car loads to goodwill. I swear I will never let it get this bad again...

Don't feel bad about your pictures not being in books. My oldest is 22 and I still have all my pictures in boxes. Maybe when I retire I will have time to put pictures in albums?????

Ditto on FlyLady!!! It really helps and does it in baby steps so it doesn't overwelm you.

Bumping, because I know there are many more!!

I'm in! :wave2:

Actually, I am taking a week off from work next week just to clean & de-clutter! :earseek:

First priority is the computer room / office - total mess! Next is the basement. We have a 3 bedroom ranch with a full unfinished basement. You can barely walk through the basement with all our junk! :earseek:

I am going to either ebay, yard sale, trash or donate TONS next week!

I was actually thinking the same thing, but I thought I would start with my DD12's room while she is still home in the day. That way she can help!

Also I just found out my older DD21 is moving out around Labor Day. So she is starting to de-clutter (is that a word) her room. So I guess I may be forced to start earlier also.

I'm a Flylady dropout, and I need some help decluttering, etc.

Where are we starting?? My biggest problem is I have a tendency to move the clutter from one room to another. Right now, pretty much the entire house is cluttered.

I am also a Flylady drop out. :guilty:

Count me in on this. I just need to find the time is my problem.

Someone should come up with a Master type list for everyone to look at and check off.
