The difficulty in finding hand sanitizer

https://www.nowinstock.net/ I used this website to score a 4 pack of much bigger than i expected bottles of Germ-X hand sanitizer (which i was totally shocked that Amazon let me put in my cart and even more shocked when it showed up to my house and it didn't cost me like 50 dollars) and a 28 pack of TP through Amazon. I sent it to several friends and they have found things they needed as well. They have a special section just for items people need for COVID-19.

We got rubbing alcohol at Target last night. Limit 1 per family, but we were there 10 minutes before they closed so they must have had a stock all day. Lots of Youtube videos on how to mix with Aloe Vera. Honestly, you don't need it. You wash your hands when you get home and you are not leaving so what's the big deal?

I just visited this site and see a couple Purells listed as "In Stock" with Amazon. When I click it, it says "Prioritized for organizations on the frontlines responding to COVID-19" and won't allow me to add to cart. Am I missing something or is this just the case with certain products on Amazon?

I think they are keeping a majority of the stock for hospitals etc but I bought Germ-X when it was in stock.

Thanks. I wonder how often its updated - there's a time stamp there saying it was updated in the last 15 minutes, but its apparently all held back for essential businesses and people even though it says "in stock". I wonder if its just going that quickly!

I have seen some from time to time. You just need to be in the right place at the right time. I haven't specifically been looking for them, though and we have enough.

My work did manage to get some, though. Some off-brand. I don't think anybody really cares.

I found with the TP it went from being in stock to out of stock in less than 5 minutes

We bought 2 quite large bottles of Everclear. I’m always buying various smells of the Bath and Body Works stuff (and buy them in whatever quantity gets me a discount) so we have quite a few of those to go through. If it gets down to it we have aloe Vera, iodine, rubbing alcohol and Everclear to make it through.

It really helped that I had a Disney trip right before all this broke loose because I’d bought my usual supply of little hand sanitizers and those small packs of clorox wipes for my park bag. Bought extras to share with group friends, then went solo most of trip, so win-win!

I lucked out today while food shopping and found hand sanitizer but a limit of 2. My daughter and DIL are nurses and my son is a correctional officer plus my husband is high risk. I went back 2 more times and have no issues with doing that. My kids could not find it anywhere. They were medium size bottles, no name brand and $5 a bottle but they all have some now. My daughter and son were at work so I knew there would be none left when they could get to the store.

We all managed to find paper products over the weekend. Lysol or Clorox wipes are another issue - one store said they can't remember the last time they had a shipment and don't expect one any time soon. My daughter wipes down her whole car as soon as she gets home to protect her family. She is an ICU nurse on the pulmonary unit so all COVID patients right now. She is desperate for them.

I saw Lysol wipes available from Amazon Fresh. The only issue was that now they require an approval before anyone can order, even for Prime members.

I do have quite a few of the Costco house brand disinfecting wipes, but we bought them last year. We’re not really using them much. I also have a small pop up container of Lysol wipes, but I recall buying them years ago. They don’t list an expiration date, but I’m guessing they’ve degraded somewhat. Not sure if the chemical (some ammonium salt) loses its effectiveness.

I got an 8 oz bottle at Aldi for less than $2 a few weeks ago. Really, with barely going anywhere, I rarely use hand sanitizer. When home I wash my hands with anti-bacterial soap, it is only when I go out for my weekly grocery trip that I use sanitizer. People who have to go out to work need it more than me.

What do I need hand sanitizer for? I’m stuck at home. Let the Doctors and grocery clerks use it.

Unfortunately we’re not all able to stay home. My DH & I are still working, as are several other extended family members. I go for groceries once a week or so. I definitely use soap & water at home, but need some sanitizer for for when I’m out. I will also share with other family members who must be out. But thank you for not hoarding what you don’t need so those of us who do can get it!

Saw this in another thread -- checked the site -- sounds easy enough to order and the above poster appears to have received his gallon quickly and in good order.

I sent that link to my DD#2, who needed to find sanitizer for her guys at work. She bought a gallon of it, to see if it worked and to check shipping..it got to her in less than a week, and her guys are happy. She bought little travel spray bottles for them to put the sanitizer in, for when they are in the field, and some bigger sized ones for at the shop.

I did receive my gallon of the liquid sanitizer from froggy’s. It is 80% alcohol which is higher than many. I am actually going to order another gallon because I’m not having luck finding any other sanitizer.
