The difficulty in finding hand sanitizer

Depends on what’s in it. FDA requirements for hand sanitizer include a requirement that it be denatured, and the most common way is with the most bitter substance in the world - denatonium. This is aalso a requirement for the ethanol that’s blended in fuel. I guess that’s probably a reason why most distilleries making it aren’t selling it, but giving it away. If they made an FDA approved product, they have a hard time clearing out the bittering ingredient from their equipment.

If you ask me, a combo of isopropyl alcohol & aloe is the best hand sanitizer. They don't need to add so much fragrance.

Mini-mart where I buy my Lottery tickets had some 10 ounce bottles of no brand hand sanitizer fro $9.99

That’s a lot better than here-a local pharmacy got in some 8 oz bottles they are selling for - get this -$17.99 each!

Our local Dollar Tree has been keeping hand sanitizer in the stores , they are up by the cash registers . We have not had any problem getting any at all. Now bleach is a whole different ball game.

I never use hand sanitizer in substitute for handwashing especially before eating.

I was on a walk with my family. I hadn’t actually touched ANYTHING (I’m a weirdo and pay attention to that sort of thing) that could have made me sick. I just did it because it made me feel better before I ate a snack bar.

Hand washing is highly superior, though.

Oh it wasn't that I had it on my hand and ate something. I put it on my hands and then I actually got a weird taste in my mouth and my tongue started to burn. I tried it a few days later and it happened again so no more for me. But I'm pretty sensitive to things. There's is something in the scent that bothers me because regular hand sanitizer doesn't give me that effect. I once had to apply this particular ointment to my dog and my vet told me to ensure that I always used gloves because the ointment absorbed very quickly through the skin and it would give you a taste in your mouth within a minute or so of having it on your hands. He wasn't wrong!! I think that whatever they are using as an aromatic at BBW is having the same effect on me.

I’d never want to use it if that happened to me either. Yikes

My Target order is already here! I'm impressed and grateful that I was able to snag a bottle. We don't use it often, but I would like to have it with me when I go to the grocery store, as infrequent as that is!

My husband went to Bath and Body Works weeks ago when everywhere was out of hand sanitizer. I hadn’t bought anything from the store in years, but this was one of the hand sanitizer scents he grabbed. It is the best smelling hand sanitizer. Seriously, every time I use it my husband comments on how nice I smell. I know where I’m getting my hand sanitizer when all of this is over

I did manage to find some hand sanitizer over the last week. Target had the ArtNaturals 8 oz bottles, although they were tall and skinny. My wife had bought their shorter, rounder bottle via Amazon at an even higher price. The price turned out to be higher than on Target's website, but I didn't really care enough to price match it.

The other thing I did earlier today was take my mother to the ER with my father. They just wanted my help. She fell down, landed on her side torso, and had some serious pain around the ribs. She wasn't sure if it was a bone bruise, a pulled muscle, or perhaps cracked ribs. It's really weird though. The closest major hospital has tents outside where they check for Covid-19 symptoms before allowing anyone inside. My mom wanted me in there with her just in case, but they're not allowing ANY visitors. She ended up getting X-rays then an MRI and no broken ribs. I knew it was pretty serious since we had a Congressman representing a district around here who tripped while jogging, had cracked ribs, then pneumonia. But it's totally weird trying to deal with any hospital visit. She had her phone, so we could get regular updates.

While we were waiting I ended up going to a nearby Whole Foods. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted, but hoped to use their bathroom if they had one. Since I could go to the ER restrooms, there basically wasn't any place until I got home. But I did barely find hand sanitizer. They had a limit of 3, and all they had was a 1 oz bottle with a carabiner-style clip for a belt loop, and pouches of alcohol wipes - both lavender scented. Not sure about paying $2.99 and $1.99 respectively, but I don't care about the price, and I can refill the bottles with any hand sanitizer.

Also finally found Clorox Crystals at Walmart online a few minutes ago, praying it doesn't get cancelled.

I’m glad you like it! I didn’t know hand sanitizer could actually smell good. I thought if I ever bought a scented one, I’d just smell like chemicals and flowers.

Due to a tip here on Dis, I’ve been checking Bath and Body Works website many mornings as they release the hand sanitizer pocketbacs early morning and are sold out by the afternoon. Previously it’s been one scent for a bit and limited to one, but today they have *five* scents and they’re letting you buy multiples! Woohoo! So sad my level of new excitement level lows , but thought I’d pass the info on for those who still need some

We got rubbing alcohol at Target last night. Limit 1 per family, but we were there 10 minutes before they closed so they must have had a stock all day. Lots of Youtube videos on how to mix with Aloe Vera. Honestly, you don't need it. You wash your hands when you get home and you are not leaving so what's the big deal?

They had it on a big display next to limit one Clorox bleach and limit one toilet paper packs.

I used to be so anti-hand sanitizer and just a “wash your hands” gal, but if I’m ever going to get back into the parks, I’ve conceded I need something for “on the go”. (My hubby does all the shopping and I have a sink at work where I get to wash my hands all. the. time. so these will just be for future airport travel and the like)

I just received an Amazon delivery of 12 bottles of GermX today. It was was a special deal of 12 bottles thru a Facebook link about a month ago. It was strange because you could only order it in a set of 12. At the time, I thought they should have just let you order one or two bottles so more people could get some but it didn’t work that way. They are smaller bottles, but I am happy they actually arrived. Now if we see a spike over fall and winter, we will be set and I can share with family.
