Just because I could I flew down to Orlando today. I booked a room on Priceline for tonight and tomorrow and got the Wyndam Palace. I am there now and the room is very nice!

Anyway, I got to Orlando and decided to go to Epcot. I went to the last two shows of Off Kilter. (OH DEAR, I have become a groupie, I know all the band member names and the last band I can say that about was the Osmonds!) During the last show I was sitting next to a very nice family with a very cute little girl who was really into the show. She danced and entertained both Off Kilter and those in the audience who saw her. Just before the set was over I realized that her family was ready to leave and I asked if I could give her a pin off my lanyard. The parents said yes, but the little girl was not sure of this! Anyway I gave it to her and went back to my seat. A few minutes later the girl comes over and gives me the sweetest hug! It just made my day. The lead guitar for Off Kilter (Randy. See I told you!) told me after the set that he noticed and that my pin gift was very nice.

So... I went on a quest. Since it is better to give then recieve I decided to dump some more of this metal on kids at Epcot. My rules were the kid had to be behaving and I had to feel like giving them a pin! I gave away about 4 more pins tonight while walking around and watching illuminations. At this rate I might dump out the pin bag in a few years.

I should point out that I really got into pin trading when it first came out. And THEN I attended a pin event. Let's just say that this was NOT my idea of how I want to spend my time at Disney. However, I have way more pins than I know what to do with. EBAY has been suggested, but.... I think that giving them away may be more my speed.

By the way, the crowds at Epcot for early July were very reasonable. I just watched entertainment, but at 25 minutes prior to Illuminations there were plenty of empty spaces.

Stay tuned. I will probably run out of pins by the end of the weekend. The only one on my lanyard or in my suitcase that is not under consideration for trading is my green DIS Board pin.

How nice Carol - both the pins and your quick trip to WDW - I'm jealous - thanks for posting!

Thanks for posting - I'm so jealous, a quick trip to Disney, it takes us 9 hours to get there by plane!!!

What a nice thing to do! That is the unexpected magic that these families will remember for a long time.

Cool. Don’t you love the feeling of making someone else feel the magic? I’ve paid for a snack or drink for the people behind me in line. It’s always waaaaay too much fun.

I did not know there was a DIS board pin! More info please on how to get one and what it looks like, Thanks.

I just wanted to thank you for your kind and generous spirit- it's like fireworks- you light the fuse of generosity and a chain of giving starts and impresses everyone!! And then they light a fuse and oila- 4th of July Generosity Fireworks!! :)
It just takes one - and a virus of generosity has caught on!! :)

The DIS board pin was made by someone on the boards. He would trade you any Disney pin for it. However, mine is dated 2001 so I don't know if they are still around.

ALAN, WAYNE,MERRILL, JAY, DONNY, MARIE, JIMMY!!!

And don't forget the two oldest brothers: Tom and Virl!!!

Osmond Fans Unite!!!

You know, I've been to Disney dozens of times and I've never heard of Off Kilter.

Well, fair warning. They are nothing like the Osmonds! They perform on the stage next to Canada, 5 men in kilts! One playing the bagpipe. The schedule is usually Sunday-Thursday. I do enjoy them. (There are some sound clips on thier website www.offkilter.net) And since I go a lot and am by myself I can just watch what I want to. This was actually kind of an entertainment tour. I saw Off Kilter, Mo'Rockin and the group performing at the American Adventure theater.

Oh wait. I have seen/heard them performing. I just didn't know their group name (or their individual names!) I'll have to pay more attention next time.

hey...the Osmonds have (apparantly) made a big comeback in the UK!!

I met Donny last year. It's silly but I cried and cried! Ha! Got a photo and an autograph. I couldn't say a word.

Carol,

We were at Epcot on the 2nd too! Our first time - it was great! What a wonderful idea to give pins away to kids! We fell in love with Off Kilter!!! We bought their newest CD. It was our "road music" for the trips back and forth to the parks and for a lot of our drive home.

Carol is such a softy......:D :D Great idea (additional smilies posted here)

It is "common knowlage" Carol is a class act.
(by the way our kids will be in the parks in
DECEMBER - they like pins)

Thanks! I will certainly keep the Zurg family in mind when distribuiting pins!
