It sounded to me like you were criticizing Alex (and he was taking some heat from other people too) for making the DB decision and I was just trying to make it clear that it wasn't just him and that he shouldn't be the sole focus of people's 'discontent'. It sounds like, from your later post, you may have been confusing him with Pete? (Who really can do anything he likes with these boards as they belong to him and is therefore 'his world').

Anyhow, I should really be thanking you now that you've brought to light Alex's nefarious plans for a hostile takeover - don't think you are fooling me with that innocent look Alex...

Hi RM, yes I am aware of your feelings on the matter as you've made them known several times since your own signature got busted. All I can say is - we are only human. There are no automated ways of checking people's signatures so it's just where the Tech Team spot them on their travels or when it's reported by another user. It's not a perfect system but it's the best we've got I'm afraid.

Dsny fn - after your suggestion to us to change the whole site just in order to accommodate what are currently illegal signatures which you personally don't have a problem with, well I can only say that you obviously <i>did</i> miss my whole point.

Just a thought on sponsors/non-sponsors. (Not even sure why I am reading all this, never even went to the DB, but I tend to read most that is here on the CB, LOL). I read a few pages back, (maybe a lot now, this thread seems to move quickly), somone mentioning a quick survey of non/sponsors. Just a reminder, some (me among them), elect not to have a sponsor thing in our signature nor avatar area. I have sponsored both times the program came out, yet don't want the logo. Just an FYI to those who may be counting up the non-sponsors, not all have the cliparts.

I havent posted on the DB in awhile but i always enjoyed the board and the good give abd take that could be found there. It is sad that one of the few boards on this site(rumors/news being the other) that you found a real good give and take on issues/subjects and not just a bunch of Pixie Dust BS or talk as it came from the wdw pr office!!!
If the powers that be here want to improve the site IMHO they need to have a board/section of the site where NEWS is actually made here/stories that are broken that are found elsewhere on the web!!!!

This site is primarily a Disney site. It has evolved over several years to include other destinations in Orlando, as it logically would...some people DO venture outside of WDW and see the other sites, and also even stay in offsite hotels!! This site provides information about much of it. Additional boards formed (someone "in the know" correct me if I'm wrong) so that "offsite" discussions wouldn't get lost in "onsite" discussions, etc, and vice versa. It was my understanding (gosh...don't feel like taking the time to do further research) that there were also sites for Universal and Seaworld, owned by Pete. Whether they now are all technically included as part of the same site, or contain links to each other, are on the same server or whatever, is nitpicking the issue. Would you have been happier if Pete had said "This is an Orlando destination Board"? I think not.

Boards have come and gone over the years, as the people who run it so choose. So they choose to get rid of the DB, and keep the Garden Board (haven't spent a whole lot of time there, but geez, I don't think I've seen nasty name calling over what plants are the best , but then again, I did miss the manure thread! ) and others. There's a great big Internet world out there...I'm sure you can find what you're looking for...I hope you do.

Now I'm going to do a search for "manure"...good thing I already have my boots on!

WMP did you even check the link I posted? I would suggest you lok at it and ask a question to the board owners over there as to how hard it was. It actually wans;t hard at all come on with all you mods and webmasters putting some thought inot it I am sure it would take you at best an hour to add something like that. Then when you get to the DIS you have an opton you log in under highbandwidth or under dialup bandwidth.

My question is "Why should they?"

It seems that the board owners have made their decision. If you think it's so easy and wonderful, perhaps you'd be doing the displaced DB'ers a favor by opening up your own board and inviting them all in to debate. I'm sure vBulletin would enjoy the new board as well.

At best it would only take you an hour and it's not that hard, right?

We considered a lot of things son of the morning.. and made the decision that we felt was best for the site.Otherwise what possible motivation would we have for shutting it down?

um to get the people that frequented that board to leave? I have already felt ousted. The people that have talked about how sad they are are already made to feel like they shouldn't be at this board. I think we should come here and have our debates here (of course playing by the rules). I think the mods will have more complaints then the debate board ever will. I see quite a few people leaving but I see a lot staying.....

presidential debates next to how to raise your kids. Like someone said I would get ready for the onslot!

We should have moved off of the DIS a long time ago, and I'm sorry we didn't. The worst (but funniest) thing about the DB is having people just drop in, start venting their spleens at people and then say, "I never come here. The people are nasty."

Why attack me like this in these two posts of yours ? I did nothing to you, I just stated an opinion.

I know that Pete does not own Disney (I'm not stupid), however he does run a *Disney* site, not an *Orlando Destination Site*. (He explicitly said *Disney* site.) You don't have to yell at me by using all caps, and you don't have to roll your eyes at me. You could have politely said "This Disney board has evolved into an Orlando board" or something to that effect to get your point across, a point that I still do not agree with. A *Disney* board should not give advertisement to the competition.

Seems to me that the debate board isn't really gone. You have all brought over the same ole stuff. Yes, I visited there, didn't post. Do I have to read all your 'debates' here on the CB? Nope. Just go right on past them. If I want such opinionated yet close minded debating, I'll start going to our Town Meetings again!! Life is waaaay too short for such nastiness, here or on any other board. Just because you don't see eye to eye is no reason to start with the sarcasm. I have been in plenty of discussions where it has gotten somewhat heated, but after the same old point is made, it starts getting personnal...every time. Well he said such and such to me in such and such a tone...yeah? well she said it with more sarcasm to me. It just goes on and on and starts getting really old, really fast. I'll just be ignoring those 'debate' threads. Shower me with pixie-dust and good wishes......yep, that's right....a pixie-dusting, good will wishing dope!!!

Seems to me us mods were darned if we did, or darned if we didn't.There is alot of complaints here that we didn't police the debate board enough, and if we did interfere to much, we were on a power trip??? . We tried not to interfere until a thread was reported because after all, it was a debate board and debates often get alittle heated. And now many are complaining we didn't interfere enough?????
