Yes I am Jolie in my white thong hehe. So no one is getting away without getting hurt.

Hey, I just thought of something... With all these clique threads around, we can start a DB reject clique! I bet no one would even notice us!

You should wear the gray ones, to help fuel your anger against "The Man." ;)

WHAT! X-rated pictures on the CB? Shocking! At least on the debate board no one ever posted X-rated pictures!

I'll miss it and I didn't post that much.

Day is done,
gone the sun,
From the hills,
from the lake,
From the skies.
All is well,
safely rest,
God is nigh.
Go to sleep,
peaceful sleep,
May the soldier
or sailor,
God keep.
On the land
or the deep,
Safe in sleep.

Love, good night,
Must thou go,
When the day,
And the night
Need thee so?
All is well.
Speedeth all
To their rest.

Fades the light;
And afar
Goeth day,
And the stars
Shineth bright,
Fare thee well;
Day has gone,
Night is on.

Thanks and praise,
For our days,
'Neath the sun,
Neath the stars,
'Neath the sky,
As we go,
This we know,
God is nigh.

I wish I remembered how to have it play automatically when the thread was opened...

Don't like the "reject" part - not politically correct. If illegal aliens can be called "undocumented workers" then we should be "relocated debaters" but never rejects ;)

the mods did the job expected of them...

"policing" threads...on any board...and all the boards...is part of their duties....

That's cool, but when it's done selectively then that's bad. I had started a few threads on the DB. I stated something, gave my position and then asked a few questions to get the debate going....well, a few of those posts were locked due to lack of debate. Then they allow threads that had no debates at all to continue. So the Mods didn't do their job all the time, or selectively did. I can't prove it either way, or maybe I'm reading something into it...either way it really irritated me.

Ok Ok so I used Disney site in a generic sense!!!

Alex,

Don't take it the wrong way, but I don't buy it.

The home page states, "The Internet's Largest Unofficial On-Line Guide to Walt Disney World."

If the "management" didn't close the DB, we could be debating this issue now.

As a DB moderator, I would like to comment about the DB needing better policing. I for one spent a huge amount of time (especially these last few months) policing the DB. It was getting way out of hand, "reported posts" filled my mailbox some days, and trying to police the boards was becoming a full time job! Just seems lately posters were going out of their way to ignore the guidelines, and were posting whatever they felt like, whenever they felt like it. Maybe if the rules were followed, we would still have a debate board.

What I can't understand are the people who are taking pleasure from the DB's closure.
If you didn't like what went on there you didn't have to go.

I first came to the DIS, as I imagine did not most people, to plan my first trip to Orlando. I stayed around mainly because of the DB. I enjoyed reading and occassionally participating. There was a lot of mud-slinging, and I got splattered a time or two, and recently a fellow-countryman of mine has made it a bit tedious. But I also learnt a lot - it certainly furthered my education on the US constitution and its importance to many Americans.

I understand it's Pete's ball and he can take it home whenever he wants to. I'll live - I'll just have to go and bang my head against a wall now and again as an alternative.

You're not quite following your own guidelines:

"We do not believe in censorship, and open discussions about various issues is encouraged."

Plus, you're serving to prove my point admirably: Your hand-waving attitude about the concern over collective benefits of a debate forum is only illustrating that you couldn't care less about how the frequent users of the board feel.

Since it was a fairly active board, I think instead of us showing YOU why we 'need' a debate forum, you should show US why it was important to take away.

Do I need a green card to join the relocated debaters.

Sad to see it go. It was fun while it lasted even though I wasnt on there long.

I always dislike generalizations like that "posters were" - makes it sound like everyone on the debate board was not abiding by the guidelines. Some of us did. It was a select few who seemed to be playing a game of "gotcha" that got out of hand but the majority of the posters that I read did abide by the guidelines most of the time.

I think the moderators do an OUTSTANDING job! However, what percentage of the "reported posts" were actually breaking the rules? I'm sure there were people out there calling wolf. Did the moderators ever think about adjusting the rules? I'm sure there are rules that will get you banned outright, but what about infractions? If someone makes three infractions they could have been banned from the site or just the debate board.

I feel "management' made a hasty decision without looking at all the options.

Does this mean the CB is the new DB? Obviously some think so. I'm not look to get flamed everytime I post on a thread.

Well said again SOTM and no Nebsky you do not need a green card just a comfy chair

ITA --- I learned so much about the British loyalist, Sinn Fein and the IRA. My DW got tired of me giving her a history lesson.

LONG LIVE THE DEBATE BOARD!

TIC just mae sure you read the thread before hand so as to not get in over your head ifthe thread looks a bit feist it may be best to disregard it to save yourself some headache. You can post all you want but just know that there will now be some debates on teh CB hope to see you around and not pullin your hair out.

Gosh, I never knew what a scary place the DB board was.

I don't think debate board refugees will be looking to turn a 'My dog learnt how make pancakes' thread into a Democrat v Republican or USA v Europe rant. A DB refugee post will be pretty obvious.

But then again.........
