Wow, He's beautiful. Another wonderful thing for you today.

I do sew so if you need me to make a few patches I'd be happy too. I just need some measurements or a pattern to go by.

Deb

Thanks Deb! I may take you up on it...I am hoping something I ordered will work (cross your fingers). I am not creative when it comes to sewing and have no clue how to make a pattern....but who knows..there's a first for everything :teeth:

I am more of a reader than a poster but I thoroughly enjoy reading this thread daily, I think you guys are a great bunch of people and I could defiantly use some of your prayers and pixie dust this week, my 5 year old son, Blake is having his tonsils and adenoids taken out on Thursday, I know that he will be much better off in the long run but right now I am terrified of him having to be put out.

Libby

I'll definitely send prayers and pixie dust for you! It's always scary when you have to take your kids for a procedure! Think happy thuoghts!

Congrats on the win!!!! We were pulling for the HORNS in this household. It would have been even a better week if the DAWGS had won the Sugar Bowl but I don't guess we can have it all.

Lynn

Thanks, Lynn! I will remember being at that game for the rest of my life. I'm especially glad I got to be there with DH and my parents - the Horns hadn't won a national championship since my parents' 2nd year of marriage, and I was not even a thought in their minds!

I'm a little bummed about Vince leaving for the NFL, but am trying not to be selfish and begrudge him his deserved success. He's such a great kid, and deserves such a chance for him and his family. He's done so much for our football program.

I was sad about the Dawgs, though - what happened??? At least they did make it a respectable game at the end - I thought I wasn't seeing right when it was 21-0!

I keep saying the one year we are going get AP and spend some good times there with the kids but just never seem to as we always have so many other vacations planned and time is our problem.
Are the AP's also valid for DL??? This years vacations are planned out to the day - I always have more vacations planned than fits into my 18 vacation days.
2006 - All planned out.
2007 - we are talking about going to South Africa for 5 weeks in December and showing the kids around so there goes that year.
2008 - may have to be the year for AP's with a couple of trips at WDW.

Kristine -- your DGS is precious!

Libby -- Best of luck for your son :wizard:

Delinda -- I feel for you. Hope the insurance kicks in more than you think it will! ::yes::

Deb -- I am delighted to hear that all your loved ones are doing better. :)

MidNite -- Glad you found us! :wave2:

OK, I promise that I did read every post, but was using the computer in the bedroom with no paper nearby so I didn't take notes. I know that several people needed pixie dust :wizard: :wizard: and there were a few congrats. I saw some wonderful new designs too.

For all of you that were there for me during the Train Incident with my Dad, he had a CT Scan yesterday and everything is back to normal. He has been medically cleared.

Colby's face has healed, but he is left with a 3/4 " scar on his left cheek, actually between the cheek and mouth kind of following the laugh/smile line. Hopefully that will get better over time.

It looks like we are climbing out of the illnesses that we've had lately too.

Thank you all for your support during these difficult times. I really cannot find words to express how much you all helped me.

Deb

Yea!! That is great news on your dad, and glad everyone is feeling better!

the break even point on AP's is 11 days

when we buy them we try to go on two trips on them - last year we had them - I went Oct 22-31 and then the following trip Oct 7-16 and it made it an easy decision to make a spring trip without my DH (my mom had an AP and went with us)

what I loved about it was that it was easier to plan - I didn't feel like spending half a day at MK was wasting a day - and we were able to go to the parks on our arrival and departure days without worrying about buying a day even if we were only in the parks for a couple of hours

it is my understanding that you can add the dining plan as long as you are not using the AP discount rate - so you might need to weigh the discount vs the food savings

DVC is so easy to understand if you go to their sales pitch - and they are GOOD!!! If you want it - they are really good at helping you weigh the pros and cons and the bonus with DVC is $100 off an AP and you can use the dining plan!!!!!

Thanks for the info! I really need to sit down and figure things out. I hate to get bent on the dining plan..but Bill just loved it....and since he was all in favor of going back to WDW in Dec. I want him to be as HAPPY as possible so we can go back in 2007! :cool1:

I'm so glad that your dad is ok. That was so scary! As for Colby, try some Mederma for kids. I've used that on my kids scars and it really seems to help.

I want to share something that happened this morning but I don't want to offend anyone religiously.....anyway..........

My DS8....Alex....has asked the last couple of months about heaven and hell and being a Christian. We just plant the seeds and let him ask the questions. Well this morning he asked me......."if God has a plan for everyones life when they are born then why do some people still go to Hell".....well if that didn't open a door for me to talk to him. I explained that God has a plan for everyone but he can't make someone accept Jesus into their heart. They have to do that by themselves by praying the prayer of salvation. I then explained to him the prayer of salvation......admit, believe, confess..... what it meant and how to say it. He asked me if I could help him say the prayer......WELL IF THAT WASN"T THE HIGHLIGHT OF MY MORNING!!!!

I am defenitely on cloud 9 this morning.......I hope no one is offended by me sharing this with my DDA friends.

Lynn
:goodvibes Congratulations.

Cinderumbrella[/B]...I just LOVE that shirt...don't you have a pic of DH wearing it with your DD?

No, but I should have since DS wore that shirt and DH wore his White Sox jersey more times than I can count ( I swear that thing could walk the parks by itself by the end of the trip!)

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: When tinker1bell and I would make that walk back to our room, I would tell her I just wanted to cut my clothes off and burn them..... :flower: :flower:

What made you switch to the main bldg. concierge? I keep going back and forth as to where to stay for our Dec. 1-10 stay. I have poly concierge booked...but everytime I read an off review, I start agonizing.

We stayed 11 days Poly GVC last Christmas (2004). Couldn't have enjoyed it more. In fact, my dsil keeps saying when they return, it won't feel like Disney without Chef Dick..... :sunny: :sunny:

I think you can only get the dining plan if you book a package. The way to (somewhat) get around it with an AP is to buy a 1-day pass on the package - the days you're staying in the resort don't have to match the # of days on your pass. However, I think everyone in your party has to be on the same package, so you'd be buying a lot of 1-day passes for the dining plan (and likely wouldn't be getting much of a room discount).

If that makes any sense, you'd probably spend more on 1-day passes in the long run than you would save on food by being on the dining plan.

This is where the DDE and that 20% most sit-down meals is great!

Well, I think God is telling me not to clean today. I was vacuuming and I smashed the lightbulb in the ceiling fan above my head when I was trying to put the extension nozzle back in the Dyson's frame. Thank goodness Alyssa was nowhere near me and I am fine too. However, I did have a big mess to clean up.

No more cleaning...Grandma's going to have to deal with my dirty house for five days. :teeth:

Amy :)

Glad everyone's OK. Is your nausea getting any better?
I'm sure Grandma will understand. Have a good visit. :)

You were MORE than helpful, Glynis!!! We definitely did use your advice!

I may actually try to do a trip report for the 1st time, mainly because I thought it was interesting all the things we noticed that were different between both places. We had a great time, and we loved the Disneyland Hotel - it had the perfect mix of nostalgia and Disney magic! If only I could get a Tink pixie dust border for my bedroom - DH actually asked if they sold it! :rotfl2:

I especially loved that the characters just walked around like they used to do years ago at WDW - no crazy lines at Toontown, in the Town Square, etc. It was so spontaneous - and there seemed to be so many more of them, too. The only characters I noticed with "handlers" were Mickey and the princesses - everyone else was on their own!

I'm so glad that you enjoyed your trip. I was so worried that I had given you too much advice. I tend to be kind of longwinded at times. I do love helping people find their way around DL, though. I love it so much I honestly feel like I could move right into Main Street. In fact, my DD asked if we could live there permanently. How hard it was to tell her no.

Do write a trip report! I love reading them, and live vicariously through them. I love reading the WDW ones. I've read so many I feel like I could find my way around. We'll see when the time really comes, huh?

Hey Skunka, just wanted to let you know I was just fixing my breakfast and realized I was whistling Supercalifragilisticexpialodocious or however you spell it. :earsgirl:

So last night I told dh that I sure wished I was planning another trip. He looked at me and said, "are you insane? This last one put us so far into debt....." :earseek: So guess we're not planning anything for anytime soon. :(
I know how that goes. Our first trip to WDW with our first 3 DS's was 3 years ago. The last 3 years, our only vacation was visiting family in Ia. which I pointed out isn't really a vacation, especially when we stay with the inlaws. ;) So this year we disappointed everyone and went to DL, we decided every 2 years they can come and visit us if they want to see us. :duck: Not a popular decision. Oh well, at least every 2 years I get to plan a "real vacation" with which our size a family, it would be hard to afford one every year anyways. :confused3
:wizard: Feel better. Maybe DH will come around.

You weren't long-winded at all - you were perfect! I know what you mean, though - I sometimes give too much info., too. But when you're talking about something you love...

It was funny - when we walked down Main Street the 1st time, DH (who had never been to DL) turned to me and said "that can't be the castle!" When I assured him it was (what else would it be?), he said "it looks like a caketopper compared to Cinderella's!" :rotfl2: I thought Sleeping Beauty's was charming, but it does take some getting used to - not being able to see the castle from anywhere in the park.

We also found ourselves when making comparisons between DL and WDW just using "home" when referring to WDW - it was easier than spelling things out! I wish I could live in WDW, so your DD and I could be kindred spirits! :teeth:
