Congratulations, KristineN! He is adorable! Enjoy being such a young, active step-grandma. My DMIL and DFIL are pretty young, too, and it's terrific for the kids. And remember: as grandma, you get to do all the fun stuff, but when there's crying, or a stinky diaper, or spit up, or anything else you'd rather not deal with, that's when you can hand him back to Mommy. Much better than the deal you get as a mom!

Hello DDA!

We got back late Sunday from sunny Southern Cal after watching the Horns win a championship, and then visiting Mickey's West Coast digs! The week couldn't have gotten much better for me! :teeth:
Lindsay

Congrats on the win!!!! We were pulling for the HORNS in this household. It would have been even a better week if the DAWGS had won the Sugar Bowl but I don't guess we can have it all.

Back from our marathon weekend trip.
It was a a great 1st trip home with 2 nights at the Boardwalk & 2 nights at Vero Beach. We love the DVC---my hubby who was a hard sell, is now talking about an add on already. :teeth:
He really enjoyed the 1/2 marathon. I wish I had been able to get my training done. He is already talking about wanting to do it next year again, but we were planning on a Dec WDW/cruise trip so I will have to call member services & see if there is an early Jan 2007 cruise that will coordinate with marathon weekend & if there is by darn I'm going to do it with him this time.
Point me in the direction of the DDA weight loss/marathon club. I am doing Weight Watchers which is great for my accountability (I've lost 15lbs since Thanksgiving-well I haven't weighed tonight....bet I'm up a couple of lbs from the great Disney food), but I could always use another group of people in the same boat as a support system.
Love yall........Love the DDA.

Congratulations! He is precious :goodvibes

Boy he's cute but I am not looking forward to being a step grandma - I want to think I AM still too young. My SDD is going to be 21 in July.

Julia..........I wasn't ready for it either but it wasn't my choice. My DSD is 25 w/ a 5yr old daughter and my DSS is 28 with a 2yr old son and another boy on the way. So with their little ones my two DS 8 and 11...........we make for one crazy household when we are all together. But I really, really love being a MEME.

I am sure this has been asked & answered...but I am getting a little slow in my new found old age :teeth: But can someone clarify for me some AP questions...
if they indeed can be answered...

how many visits to break even?

Can you participate in the dining plan?

do most people buy aps for their entire family..or for just one person to be able to take advantage of better room rates...

Thanks!!

I am sure I'll need a lot of wine to figure out the DVC :rotfl:

OK- let's get some of those all important AP questions answered!!!

As of right now you cannot participate in the Disney Dining Plan, however, I hear they're working on someway to remedy that. You can however by a DDE (Disney Dining Experience) card. It cost $50.00 (hope that not the DVC price). We did this with our last trip in December and it was GREAT! You get 20% off of practically all sit down dining- it easily paid for itself in just that one trip.

My DH and I both by AP (kids are all grown) because for us as DVC owners to buy anyhting else would be just plain dumb. DVC owners get $100.00 discount on an AP. For us, our AP's cost us about $250.00 this last year. You could get a 7 day pass for that price now. When you add in the discount for resorts and other perks, it's a no brainer. Plus- we always take more then one trip to WDW- so in the long run- it's the deal for us! However, if you only plan on one trip- and you have to pay the regular price for an AP, then sorry.... but you have to do the math! In general though, if you want to get the AP room rate, then I'd just buy 1 AP and buy everyone else a reg. ticket. Of course- this depends on how long you're staying as well!

How long are you going for and how many adults/children??? Do you wnat to PH and visit the water parks??

You will NOT need wine to understand DVC- we have plenty of DVCers here to answer almost any question you have. Once you get the jist- it's easy as 1-2-3!!!

BTW- now that you're a Grandma- you need to SERIOUSLY CONSIDER getting into the DVC! You'd be the "best grandma (not to mention mom) in the world!" I guarantee it! Can't you see it now- the look on that little boy's face the first time he sees Mickey?? Oh!! I can't stand it! As a matter of fact- when I look at that pic of him, you can see he's already thinking about that. Can't you see it??? He's earching for the Mouse!! :teeth:

We just got home from an evening of basketball games DS8 lost and DS11 won....50/50 isn't bad. They are both really good sports but Alex....8yrs has a hard time with loosing but he seems to be over it now. I hear them playing Nintendo downstairs. I hope everyone is having a good night......I am going to work on getting the rest of Christmas put away.......I will check in later.

I need some of that there pixie dust. Went to get my dental crown on this morning and they decided I needed a root canal. So I am sitting here with a numb mouth. They gave me a prescription for pain medicine and told me it would be sore for the next three days. Ouch. Anyway the cost is what is so bad. I have spent out of pocket already 700.00 for this one tooth and depending on what the insurance don't pay I may have to pay more. This is an unexpected expence and is really eating into my disney money. We go in a little over four weeks. Now I still have to go back next week to get the stupid crown on. Sorry so long just needed to vent. I think I am feeling better already just being able to share my unpleasant experience today.

Poor baby!! Here is major pixie dust for your tooth and wallet :wizard:

I am more of a reader than a poster but I thoroughly enjoy reading this thread daily, I think you guys are a great bunch of people and I could defiantly use some of your prayers and pixie dust this week, my 5 year old son, Blake is having his tonsils and adenoids taken out on Thursday, I know that he will be much better off in the long run but right now I am terrified of him having to be put out.
