We stayed at POR back when it was Dixie Landings. We're looking at it for our August 2006 trip. Anything I should know? Do you think it will be way, way, way too tight with dh, ds14, dd13, ds6, and me?
My mom and dad have given us their timeshare (Marriott Grande Vista) for a week in August. I want to extend the trip, but I'm having trouble convincing dh. POR is the most affordable option for us, and we don't spend that much time in the room.

We stayed in the mansions when we went, not the Bayou where the trundle beds are... But if you only plan on sleeping there it shouldn't be too bad. DS6 would be on the trundle cuz I hear they are pretty small. The beds are doubles, not queens. There are 2 pedstal sinks in the changing area with a long shelf that runs above them. The toilet and the tub/shower is in its own room. The changing area is separated from the boedroom by a curtain, but it did an OK job keeping the light out. There wasn't a lot of drawer space (I think 4 in the TV armoire) but the closet in the changing area held a lot of stuff. There is a small fridge in the room (think dorm sized) a table with 2 chairs and a bench with another shelf and coat hooks above the bench.
Prior to this trip we only ever stayed deluxe. We weren't that thrilled with the Beach Club on our last trip so we decided to give POR a chance. We loved the place! On the mansion side the grounds are just beautiful, so I didn't mind the walk to the room. We were in Oak Manor which was pretty close to the main building anyway. The pool was nice with waterfalls and a slide, there's a bar out there too if you are so inclined

We had very good bus service (never more than 10 minutes and almost always got to sit -or at least one of us holding DS2 did)
We ate at Boatwrights a couple of times for breakfast and really liked it- big portions and not very expensive by WDW standards. Our only experience with the food court was for lunch they day we arrived and the day we left and that was like a ghost town- but overall the food wasn't too bad and there was a lot of variety.
They have horse drawn carriage rides in the evenings, the boat to DTD at night is very cool! Even if you don't want to shop, take it down there and go to Ghiradellis!
You can rent a boat or water sprite at the Marina. DH said Bob Jackson at the Piano Bar is VERY funny!
Some of the workers at the front desk are dumb as rocks (especially the night shift) but some are fantastic. Still, everyone was very friendly (even in the food court).
I know, this is A LOT of information, but I really, really can't say enough good things about this resort!
