I just posted this on the Disney Dining Plan board but wanted to ask everyone here as well.

DH & I are going for a trip in December. I'm considering the DDP. However, we have both cut back quite a bit on our portions in the last year as a weight loss measure. There is no way that we could eat an appetizer, entree & dessert at a meal. We'd be lucky to eat all of that if we shared. Can we order just one meal per sitting and share with the DDP? So then we could have two sit down meals a day. Or do you both have to use the DDP when dining together? I really don't know if it is worth it for us. I'm happy to leave more of a tip for the servers since we would be sharing a meal and it would still be extra work with the extra person.

You can share Vicki. Last year we shared some table service and sit downs, because we just can't eat everything. At some places we shared, we still didn't finish everything. We only were at WDW 3 days though and it was during the Free Dining and they didn't give us a hard time at all. We shared sit downs at Le Cellier and Maya Grill. Part of the reason we shared was cause I still felt like I was on the Disney Wonder for about 3 weeks after the cruise and was hardly hungry, right after the cruise.

If you chose to share just make sure that your server knows that you are sharing and you shouldn't have any problems.

Heidi -- the crowds are awful! But we love it.

This will be our 11th Christmas to spend in WDW as a family. It is how we celebrate the holidays. We go often enough that we seem to avoid most of the crowd problems and do only the things we love to do. TourGuideMike is also an invaluable tool during this time period! :goodvibes

We went over Christmas in 2004. It didn't get really crowded :crowded: until the 22nd. We were there from the 16th to the 27th. Poly GCV. What a vacation. My son and his wife were at the WL. LOVED it.

I know that is why I want to show my sister WDW during this time of year... :santa:

I talked to my mom last night. She's wondering how much time my DDA friends are going to want to see me. Actually she doesn't know you all are "just" internet friends and I haven't met you in real life. (Like I'm going to tell her, she already thinks I'm nuttier than a fruitcake)

I know that I want to meet with you all on Saturday, do you think I could do just part of the day?

My mom also knows I need a vacation 'cuz I told her I needed a couple of drinks.

Does anyone know what's in a Cosmopolitan? Last night on Gilmore Girls Rory ordered one with extra cherries and I am sucker for the cherries!!

4 parts Citron Vodka
2 parts Cointreau or Triple Sec
2 parts Cranberry Juice
1 part Lime Fresh Juice

I never had one with cherries though...

Well that sounds yummy!! I love Triple Sec.

Yet another update--

Ive had some PMs asking for an update..I went to the hospital yesterday and again tonight. I got to see him in the trauma ICU. He has alot of machines hooked up and everything..but he looked better than what i was picturing. He is still on the ventilator, and will be having surgery in a couple of days to do a trach. His fever has broken. The other injuries are still the same. They are basically holding off on things to see how and when he stabilizes more.

His daughter will be leaving the hospital soon hopefully, and his niece went home yesterday.

The fire department held a blood drive today and received 105 units of blood, as well as some cash donations. We are working on putting together some fundraisers to help out the family and it looks like the newspaperse are already reporting that and some checks have been coming in--thats going to be such a huge help to the family!

Thank you ALL for all of your prayers--i told them that i have so many people asking about them and praying.t.hey say thank you

Do you think it would be more cost effective to get the DDE for AP holders (we'll be getting AP's this year when we go)? There is no way that we'll get the DDP in March because my girls are even lighter eaters than DH & I. Plus, we tend to eat lots of little meals (as recommended now by doctors) rather than 3 large ones. If I understand the DDE correctly, I could be the one to get the DDE and then get the discount on all of our meals (as long as we eat together). Just trying to figure out the most cost effective solution for us.

Is there an AP discount for AAA members? I am going to call my local AAA tomorrow (thanks to Becky for getting me the contact info). It sounds like it would definitely save me some money for our resort.

Do you need an intervention now too? What's your idea?

I might have a bridesmaid and best man :rolleyes1 :rolleyes1 for them....

So before I post the destructive pictures from the storm I want to post some from yesterday at Atlantic City. Boy, I have been posting a lot of pictures reccently.

Here are the fun fur flip flops I made, next time I am using a solid color or two different skeins or something as the variegated didn't end up an even pattern.

Bill's doctor just called...he had his yearly exam last week. Anyway, I guess he is diabetic! I of course am freaking out!! I guess we have to go see a specialist and start the process with them..I feel totally clueless.

I'd appreciate if you guys could throw a few good thoughts our way...

Kristine
Kristine, is he going to have to go on insulin or do they think it can be controlled by diet? I was diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes and I'm controlling it by diet. The best thing was going to a consultation with the Diabetes Educator (RN) and a nutritionist. The nutritionist helped me develop meal plans based on the foods I liked and the diabetes educator really helped me make sense of what was going on. It was very informative.

One thing that's important to note is that no food is totally off limits, you just have to adjust portions and other foods depending on how "bad" you want to be. I just had a mini ice cream sandwich :)

If you have to buy a glucose monitor watch the Sunday paper. Quite often they have rebates where you end up getting the monitor for free. I bought the One Touch Ultra 2 for $29.99 and received my rebate check last week. It's really easy to use and the diabetes educator said she had heard good things about it. Just a personal recommendation if you need/want one.

Good luck to him and keep us updated!

Hi

Thanks to everyone who PM'd me to see if I am still alive. I have the sinus infection from you-know-where going on 2 1/2 weeks!!!!! Today is day 8 of anibiotics but I am still all stuffed up :sad2: Last week I didn't have a voice at all and spent all my time in bed with my tissue and cough medicine. Kyle did his best to take care of me, bringing me his stuffed animals and blanket from his bed and his sippy cup of water and kept asking "Are you feeling better yet?"

Anyway, hope all is well with the DDA! For those who asked, our trip is still Nov 26 to 12-3 at POR (requested Oak Manor). I will probably miss Pal Mickey's nupituals as that is my niece's 2nd bday and we are having dinner at 1900 PF and spending our last night at MK with the family. We are doing MVMCP on Thursday 11/30. DH and I are doing the 6:45 Candlelight Processional on 11/28 for my birthday and 8:10 dinner at Le Cellier.

Take Care!
Kristin
Good to see you again! I hope you feel better soon.

How big are their hands are their fingers sewed together? If so then you may have to go with Bracelets instead.
Are we going to throw rice, rose petals or blow bubbles when the ceremony is over? Where is the Ceremony taking place? don't forget music. :lmao:
Do they have a cake? You could order one of those miniature wedding cakes from GF ;)

All right all: I am going to bed, I have been unable to get rid of this headache permanently. I am going to go nuts I think!!

Hi Kelli haven't seen much of you lately. How is the summer going so far.

Hi Jennifer! I honestly don't know if I'm coming or going anymore. LOL!! I've been spending a lot of time outside, work is crazy, the girls are involved in swimming lessons, Kaelyn's in dance and Stephanie's in soccer. My grandpa moved into a residental living place so my parents and Craig and I have been cleaning out his house. Last weekend was the first weekend in a month that wasn't spent over at his house.

I'm also a little sad as last year at this time, we were planning for our trip and now we can't go anywhere. Oh well, I get to live vicariously through the DDA ;)

How's it going with you?

Do I have to dress up for the wedding? :teeth:

Nope, it's a casual wedding except for the bride & groom. They want everyone to be comfortable. They are thinking that those of us going on the cruise should work on matching tees though!!!!!!
