Now that I am caught up, I need to vent so don't feel obligated to listen but I got to get this out as if I try to talk to Eric he just gets upset and it isn't good.

We were told about 3 months ago that come July 1st he would be getting a significant merit increase in his paycheck (more than 10%) along with a Cost of Living. Well today he comes home and tells me that it is only the cost of living which is a whole $52 more a month. Now of course our insurance will go up so it will end up being about $20/month! I am so PO'd right now as he has not had any merit increase in his salary in the last 8 years and we have only had the Cost of living the past 2 or 3. He works for the University of MD which is has been in a budget crunch for ever! Eric cannot understand why I am so ticked off as there really isn't anything he can do. We have certainly thought about looking elsewhere for a new job but the benefits of this one are too good. Free college for us and the girls, not to mention he has a work vehicle so no use of our car back and forth. Free cell phone and numerous other little things. I just feel that we will never get ahead. Not to mention he busts his but for the job and it seems as if he just gets the short end of the stick.

Thanks for letting me get that out!

I am sorry that it's happening this way!!! I had to remind my office that when a pay freeze went into effect I had never gotten the pay raise I was promised....so I now get about $50 more a month also, cost of living is better than nothing and they don't have to look for a new office manager. :teeth: But some of these pay freezes and budget crisis are silly!! If it's been going on so long how can they not figure out how to fix it? :confused3

The kids had step up day on Tuesday where they got to go to their new classrooms and meet the teachers and students. They came home very excited because now they know where the classroom is and who will be in it with them. I think that they both have good placements for next year.
They came home very wound up today. Both had outstanding report cards. Nick had several A+ and all of Hunter's grades (no letter grades for that age) were way above his grade level. I couldn't be more proud of them.

I'm not a big one to ask for it, but I could use some prayers and :wizard: for a big decision I'm trying to make with my career. My manager is talking to me about switching my role, and I'm just not sure what to do. Frankly, I'm not sure if they are humoring me and letting me think I have a choice in the matter, or if they are just going to switch my job in the end regardless of what I want. I can see the benefit to the company if I take the new job, but I'm having a hard time seeing the benefit to me and my career. I also don't see the next step for me if I "take one for the team" and take the role. So I'm really not sure what to do.

I could use all the :wizard: and :grouphug: anyone can spare. I probably need to make a decision by the end of the month. Sigh and double sigh.

Thank you DDA gang!

Jennifer
Prayers and :wizard: for your decision.

I'm glad the the kids know where they are going to be placed with and who is going to be in their classes. Both Nick and Hunter will be separated from their best friends next year so we have all summer to encourage new relationships with kids that we know will be in their classes. This will be extremely beneficial for Nick as it takes him a long time to get comfortable with people. One of the boys from Cub Scouts that has similar family types and they seem to enjoy similar activies. His Mom and Myself have devoted the summer to getting them together as they will both benefit from having a new best friend. They do like each other so hopefully that will work and next years transition won't be so bad.

Deb
What a neat idea.

Hey guys- can you spare some good thoughts and/or prayers for my brother...
he has been working his butt off in his firefighter course...Always in the top 10 on every test and practical exam they do..They had their final test today and his instructor said that the state changed it and most people would fail..he is crushed! he will find out next week. Hes been saying if this doesnt work out, hes going to join the military..so its going to be a rough couple weeks of waiting! please keep him in your thoughts! thanks

I'm headed off to get ready for work. Hopefully it will be busy as at least the night would fly by. I'm still dealing with the sore throat and Post Nasal Drip so busy would definately be good. Hopefully I'll get to bed early tonight so if I don't check in later have a great night.

Deb
Hope you feel better soon.

Hello All! I miss "seeing" all of you, but just don't spend much time on the computer lately!

I am sending a big "Hey Y'all!" and lots of Prayers Pixie Dust and congrats!

Hang in there with Nick, Kate, I am sure he will be fine!

Is anyone on here doing the Disney 1/2 marathon in January? (or the whole?) Seems like this is where I got the bug! So anyway, I ahave been working out a ton and running and DH and I are signed up. Anyone else?????
Nancy it is so good to see your type face. I think Glynnis was talking about it. I think she is gone camping this week though.

AAAARRRRGGGGHHHH!

I feel better now!

The doctor just called - Nick's heartbeat was fine - but there was an irregularity in the test that was either caused by a test lead being in the wrong position or an enlarge heart chamber! He is our regular doctor but not the one who ordered the test - so he is going to leave it up to her on if we should have the test repeated or not - *** - the hospital offered to repeat it at no charge to the customer - why wouldn't I get it repeated?!?!!?!?

He is very laid back - which is nice b/c he isn't an alarmist - BUT he also is slow to action - I never go see him when I want action taken (such as getting tubes for Julia etc) I love him and my kids love him and he stops me from freaking out about things but there are times I wish he would act a little faster.

I am sure the other doctor will have us repeat the test - so I guess I am going to be playing the waiting game a little bit longer!!!
Kate :wizard: that the waiting game is over soon.
:wizard: for Nick that all is well.

:wizard: Job decisions are hard to make. I hope it IS your decision and not just them asking before they switch you anyway. Sorry to hear that your trip to FL was lacking :sunny: . Hopefully next time you go down the weather will be great. :thumbsup2

Could it possibly be I'm so tired all the time because:
1) I work a lot
2) I work late a lot (it's currently 2 am CT)
3) I travel for work a lot
4) I have a large career issue weighing on my mind
5) my Junior League volunteer commitment has started up and its intense for the first few months (I'm really looking forward to it, but this work travel is getting in the way!)
6) I told a friend, "you don't need to hire a wedding planner, I'll do that for you" and so now we are in the throes of planning her August wedding
7) our aparto is tiny and we both work from home so are here all the time and it feels like the walls are closing in
8) what did I forget? who knows, I'm so tired I can't remember any more!

All I want to do is work on some shirts and sleep for days. Thank god I don't have a baby or I'd really be over the edge. I marvel at how you ladies do it all and hold all the pieces together. I can only aspire to being you all one day.

Jennifer
Sounds like you need some rest. :grouphug:

Christi you were a busy gal last night with your P3. How are things in your world?
Thanks for asking. The kids are out of school and we leave in a month to visit both sets of parents and one of my sisters and DH's sisters in IA. I'm trying to convince DH we should swing down to DL for a few days :teeth: (our AP's don't expire until Aug) oh and my younger sister got a job. :Pinkbounc She graduated in May and will be doing camera filmwork for the 700 Club in VA. It's in her field so I'm happy for her and she gets to travel.

Hi! I'm sorry I've fallen behind on sending lots of :wizard: and :grouphug: and :cheer2: to all my DDA friends and your families!

Pregnancy-wise everything is fine. All those weird feelings I had last Sunday have passed. My next doctor's appointment is June 22nd.

Everything else is just hectic though. I am trying to adjust to our new schedule that includes swimming lessons every morning at 10:35 a.m. for the next three weeks. We've "survived" three days and let me just say my two-year-old spends the entire half-hour crying. I'm thinking it's because the water is pretty chilly that early in the morning, and I'm hoping if I just stick with it, she's going to come around at some point. It's a "parent and baby" class, so she's with me the whole time...she's just miserable.

Kevin has had a pretty busy work-week thus far, and when he gets home, he's trying to take care of maintaining both yards, painting the nursery, etc. I feel bad that I can't help him more, and I know he misses spending time with us. Last night, I ended up taking Alyssa to the local aquarium with one of my friends and her three kiddos. I feel guilty that we're out having fun, but I'd go crazy if I just hung around the house all night.

Thanks for all your compliments on the pictures I posted over the weekend. Here's another one from last night. Kate, that dress should look familiar! I thought it was an appropriate outfit for the aquarium. :teeth:

Thinking of you all! Thanks to Dawn and Paula for your awesome synopsis and acknowledgement of EVERYONE! :thumbsup2

And before I go, here's some more :wizard: and :grouphug: and :cheer2: for you all!

Amy :)
:grouphug: :wizard: I sure hope you guys are able to sell the house soon and Kevin can have some time with his girls. Alyssa just looks so cute in that dress.

:thumbsup2 Great job to both, you must be proud. I think that's a great idea for kids to know there classrooms and teachers before school gets out.
