We were told about 3 months ago that come July 1st he would be getting a significant merit increase in his paycheck (more than 10%) along with a Cost of Living. Well today he comes home and tells me that it is only the cost of living which is a whole $52 more a month. Now of course our insurance will go up so it will end up being about $20/month! I am so PO'd right now as he has not had any merit increase in his salary in the last 8 years and we have only had the Cost of living the past 2 or 3. He works for the University of MD which is has been in a budget crunch for ever! Eric cannot understand why I am so ticked off as there really isn't anything he can do. We have certainly thought about looking elsewhere for a new job but the benefits of this one are too good. Free college for us and the girls, not to mention he has a work vehicle so no use of our car back and forth. Free cell phone and numerous other little things. I just feel that we will never get ahead. Not to mention he busts his but for the job and it seems as if he just gets the short end of the stick.
Thanks for letting me get that out!
I am sorry that it's happening this way!!! I had to remind my office that when a pay freeze went into effect I had never gotten the pay raise I was promised....so I now get about $50 more a month also, cost of living is better than nothing and they don't have to look for a new office manager.
But some of these pay freezes and budget crisis are silly!! If it's been going on so long how can they not figure out how to fix it?
for a big decision I'm trying to make with my career. My manager is talking to me about switching my role, and I'm just not sure what to do. Frankly, I'm not sure if they are humoring me and letting me think I have a choice in the matter, or if they are just going to switch my job in the end regardless of what I want. I can see the benefit to the company if I take the new job, but I'm having a hard time seeing the benefit to me and my career. I also don't see the next step for me if I "take one for the team" and take the role. So I'm really not sure what to do.
anyone can spare. I probably need to make a decision by the end of the month. Sigh and double sigh.
. Hopefully next time you go down the weather will be great.
She graduated in May and will be doing camera filmwork for the 700 Club in VA. It's in her field so I'm happy for her and she gets to travel.
