I hope this works as I keep getting server is busy messages and am sick of dealing with it. So no smilies or cutesies as I am heading to bed, Have a good night everyone. I typed the rest of this is word and cut and pasted so I hope it is not terribly formatted.

I’m so excited, no more group home for me. Woohooo I handed in all of my stuff yesterday and today was the last day of my employment there.

Tonight was the flag burning ceremony, it went very well and there were lots of Girl Scouts and Cub and Boy Scouts. The Cadette and Senior Girl Scouts ran the ceremony and all of Daisy and Brownie Girl Scouts were also involved. This is such an improvement for the Girl Scouts as last year the girls who attended handed out programs and had to sit and watch the ceremony. The Boy Scouts ran everything, this year the Boy Scouts manned the fire and were involved in the initial flag ceremony.

This Mouse Story made me think of all of you. We are already good at doing this but I want to remind you of how important it is. Sending hugs, prayers, pixie dust, congratulations, and well wishes to all of you.

MOUSE STORY

A mouse looked through the crack in the wall to see the farmer and his wife, open a package.
"What food might this contain?" The mouse wondered -he was devastated to discover it was a mousetrap.

Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse proclaimed the warning. "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!"

The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and said, "Mr. Mouse, I can tell this is a grave concern to you but it is of no consequence to me. I cannot be bothered by it."

The mouse turned to the pig and told him, "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!" The pig sympathized, but said, "I am so very sorry, Mr. Mouse,
but there is nothing I can do about it but pray. Be assured you are in my prayers."

The mouse turned to the cow and said, "There is a mousetrap in the house! There is a mousetrap in the house!" The cow said, "Wow, Mr. Mouse. I'm sorry for you, but it's no skin off my nose."

So, the mouse returned to the house, head down and dejected, to face the farmer's mousetrap-- alone. That very night a sound was heard throughout the house -- like the sound of a mousetrap catching its prey.

The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught. In the darkness, she did not see it was a venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught. The snake bit the farmer's wife.

The farmer rushed her to the hospital and she returned home with a fever. Everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard for the soup's
main ingredient.

But his wife's sickness continued, so friends and neighbors came to sit with her around the clock.
To feed them, the farmer butchered the pig.

The farmer's wife did not get well; she died. So many people came for her funeral the farmer
had the cow slaughtered to provide enough meat for all of them.

The mouse looked upon it all from his crack in the wall with great sadness.

So, the next time you hear someone is facing a problem and think it
doesn't concern you,remember --
When one of us is threatened,
We are all at risk.
We are all involved in this journey called life.
We must keep an eye out for one another and make an extra effort to encourage one another.

REMEMBER: EACH OF US IS A VITAL THREAD IN ANOTHER PERSON'S TAPESTRY; OUR LIVES ARE WOVEN TOGETHER FOR A REASON.

One of the best things to hold onto in this world is a friend. Thank you all for being an important part of my life. I truly appreciate each and every single one of you.

Thanks for sharing, it's a great lesson!

Thank you all for the wonderful words, prayers and PD for Katie and my SIL (Tammy). WOW what a wild few days! We have gone into “get it done” mode, so whatever needs to get done we are doing.

One of Katie’s best friends will be spending Friday evening with the girls and me while her mom and dad go to the viewing. Sam is just a little girl herself (10) and just doesn’t want to see her friend for the last time in a casket and I don’t blame her one bit. So we are having pizza and movie night with her. She will attend the service on Sat w/ her parents and then maybe some more time at our house before they drive home.

Paula,

What an impressive post, and it was in alphabetical order no less.

Friday night sounds like a wonderful plan and just the thing Sam needs. Here's :grouphug: to you and everyone touched by Katie to help you through the weekend.

Wow cool We got married Dec. 6. I wanted a Christmas wedding but this was as close to Christmas as we could get and keep peace. (Both families had issues with dates I was choosing) We still did Christmas colors deep burgundy red and a slightly dark emerald green. I'll never forget the week before all the baking. I decided to leave christmas cookie baskets in all the rooms for the guests and I underestimated how hard it would be to bake for over a hundred versus a family. I made gingersnaps, chocolate shortbread, sugar, mexican cinnamon, and peanut butter with hershey kisses and then peppermint fudge. Wouldn't you know all night I was writing down the recipe for that fudge. :rotfl: Still I love Christmas weddings and would do it all over again. When was your date?
And I do figure one of these days I'll have to pop in a movie for the kids and post earlier when everyone's up. :happytv:
I think the pics for POR look neat and I think the boys will love it. Of course, I think they would love ASMO it's Diney for a whole week. :Pinkbounc

Christy, Your wedding sounded wonderful. I love Christmas weddings. The cookie baskets sound like a great treat. I am sure everyone appreciated all the hard work and love you put into them!

Hi All --

We just got back from WDW tonight. I had a conference there Sun - Wed, and DBF tagged along to keep me company. We stayed at Yacht Club, which is the hotel where he is a CM, so he worked while I worked. Since our APs have expired and we didn't want to spend the money this time to renew them, this was our non-park trip. I know, sounds odd to most of you, but since we go every couple of months, we were okay with that. After my conference on Sun, we had planned to play in the Yacht & Beach Club pool (with the neato sand bottom) and laze around drinking adult beverages. Then Monday we were going to sneak off to St. Augustine for a beach day (I didn't have any conference stuff that day) and to eat at DBF's favorite restaurant there: Sharky's Shrimp Shack. We usually spend every 4th of July at NASCAR at Daytona and stay in St. Augustine, adding some beach days after the races. We aren't going this year, so Monday was to be our St. Augustine day.

Well, the weather didn't want to cooperate with either our Sun or Mon plans. It was a torrential downpour off and on due to TS Alberto. So it was everyone out of the pool! And Mon it just wasn't safe to drive 2 hrs. to St. Aug and 2 hrs. back. Berry is very blue since he loves St. Aug and was really looking forward to getting one day there this summer. Have to figure out how to make it up to him.

On a bright note, all of my work stuff went well. We took a bunch of clients to dinner at Todd English's bluezoo which is in the WDW Swan. The food is fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!! I've not spent much time at the Swan or Dolphin since they aren't Disney-owned hotels, so it was nice to discover a new-to-us restaurant. (Berry was able to join us at dinner which was nice for me. I hate going off to nice client dinners and leaving him behind to have something warmed in the micro or McD's.) The waitstaff at bluezoo was also top notch. They gave each dish a special flourish and explained what was on the plate and why that combo of flavors and textures. They were informative and fun without being intrusive. They also recommended some wonderful wines I'd never tried before. And they have this adult beverage called a zooberry: blueberries soaked in vodka for 2-3 days, then the vodka is poured into a martini glass with a splash of simple syrup to bring out the sweetness in the berries and a dash of lemon juice to finish it off.

The weather cleared up by late afternoon yesterday creating a lovely evening! Berry and I took ourselves over to Winter Summerland for a little mini golf. I adore WS!! The summer side is my favorite. It was nice to do something summery after the rest of the weekend had been a wash out -- literally!!

Then I was up and out the door this morning at 6:30 am for another client doodad, then back to the room for more work, work, work before we dashed for the airport. We are home now and having the after Disney blues.

We saw Cars on Sat night before we left for FL, and again on Sun night (what else do you do on a rainy night at Disney but see a Disney movie on the big screen!). We had on the Cars shirts I'd made us. Our friend went with us on Sat night and wore the shirt I'd made her, and we shipped the shirt for her boyfriend off to Baghdad. We created quite a splash wherever we went!!

Thanks to Kate for the Cars squares design. I'll have to take a photo of all of us (including our BABW stuffies) in our Cars shirts.

Anyway, I'm just pooped from the trip and my work stuff. I'm traveling next week for work as well as the week after. Just the thought makes me put off booking my flight.

So that's where I've been and why I'm behind on everyone's news. Please PM the cliff notes. It sounds like Glynis has a version. Plus Vickie is always so good about that too.

:grouphug: :grouphug: and :wizard: :wizard: to all who need/deserve it, as well as all you humble ones who never ask but could use a squeeze and a sprinkle as well.

Jennifer

Sorry the weather rained on your parade but it seems as if you made the best of it! I can't wait to see pictures of you in your Cars shirt!

I'm not a big one to ask for it, but I could use some prayers and :wizard: for a big decision I'm trying to make with my career. My manager is talking to me about switching my role, and I'm just not sure what to do. Frankly, I'm not sure if they are humoring me and letting me think I have a choice in the matter, or if they are just going to switch my job in the end regardless of what I want. I can see the benefit to the company if I take the new job, but I'm having a hard time seeing the benefit to me and my career. I also don't see the next step for me if I "take one for the team" and take the role. So I'm really not sure what to do.

I could use all the :wizard: and :grouphug: anyone can spare. I probably need to make a decision by the end of the month. Sigh and double sigh.

Thank you DDA gang!

Jennifer

Don't have any advice for you as I am not good making those kind of decisions. So here is some :wizard: :wizard: :wizard: to help you make the decision.

I seriously might be the world's worst mom

Tonight there was a deer in our backyard - and my kids got so excited that Bambi was actually in our yard - I asked him if they wanted him for a pet - and they said no

so at bedtime I told them if they didn't stay in bed - I was going to get Bambi to come stay with them in their rooms - Julia took it with a grain of salt but ran back up - Nick took off back upstairs as quick as I have ever seen him run

about 10 minutes later - Julia got out of bed and Nick got HYSTERICAL - "no - Mommy will get Bambi" Julia yells down - Mommy you can't get Bambi - he has a Mommy and Daddy waiting for him somewhere - I promised her I would not get Bambi

well I have traumatized Nick - he is in bed - has not moved and even after I told him that deers would be a horrible pet and that I would never bring a deer in our house

So I guess when Nick is an adult and has an unnatural fear of deer it will be all my fault!!! I thought they would think it was funny at the idea of having a deer for their pet/nanny - Julia actually did but poor little Nick is afraid Bambi will eat him!!!

It is kind of funny. Since everyone around here hunts I'm sure my kids would have suggested getting a gun and shooting it. Whenever they see deer they say they need to call Buddy and tell him where the deer are. He never gets them during hunting season :rotfl: I know.... we must be rednecks. :lmao:
I have actually been putting off Hunter's Safety for the older 2 as they really want to hunt with the Adults, but I don't feel safe with my little ones in the woods armed. What is a mother to do?

Morning DDA! and happy thursday!!

Paula--that was a great list of comments to everyone--i was very impressed !!

Todays plan is cleaning for a bit and work at 1..I really need to get things ready for my summer c amp kids to come in Monday--we are so not ready! I planned on coming and chatting last night with you all and i ended up asleep by 10--i dont remember the last time i fell asleep that early!

Hope you all have a great day!

I've caught up and now need to get my butt in gear. It's the last day of school :cool1: The boys get out at Noon. Since they aren't doing anything academic today, I think Colby and I are going in early to "play" at school too. Colby loves to go into Hunter's classroom and the teacher loves to have us so we might as well take advantage. Anyone else having allegy issues? I have had post nasal drip, scratchy eyes and a bit of a sore throat for 2 days now and Claritin isn't helping. Whatever it is I hope it passes soon. I just don't feel my perky self :confused3

Deb that sounds like fun!! Enjoy "school". Do the kids get to meet their teacher for next year? That's what the elementary school Abi is at does on the last day of school.

It also sounds like the way my cold started last Saturday.....it started that way and then has been camped in my head since Monday!!!
