June - Am I dense or do you have a new tag?? Maybe I have missed it before?!?!?

Nope, same tag I've had since that weekend when the tag fairy came through and tagged nearly all of us!!

Hi, all. Anyone care to do a cliff note of the past few days for me please?

I am finally getting to the Formal military night stuff. WOW what an action packed week and I have another one going on now.
eek.gif

My mother comes down around 1245 :cheer2: and the girls are just thrilled to see her. I take my shower for the day (no,:ssst: I skipped the morning shower so I only had to do my hair once).

Mark  got home around 3:00 and stayed outside so the girls wouldn’t get upset. With my hair and face ready for the night I put on some traveling clothes and off we went for our 1 ½ hour drive.

The graduation was at a hotel (I forgot the name of it), we checked in, went to the room, got the uniforms out of their bags and took a breather. NO!:sad1: Not that kind of breather… remember my hair was set for the night. :cutie:

Time to get dressed :yay: and go downstairs for cocktail :drinking1 hour. We chat with people and more people and more people. The dinner chime is heard and we are in at our tables. Did I say he attended a Coast Guard SNCOA (Senior Non-commissioned officer Academy)? So the Cost Guard does things rather different then the AF. They brought in not just the American flag (this is done at every major function), they brought in all the flags of every service. That was very cool and Mark brought in one of the flags :thumbsup2 (an honor, he was chosen by his classmates).

So we eat, we take our break; we have cheesecake (I was rather sad :sad2: it wasn’t as good as it looked). They rape up the evening with giving out the certificates/diplomas and we are off to the bar for after function drinks :drinking: and conversation. I wish they would have had a bigger bar :drinking:, I was ready for a good buzz, but that didn’t happen. We ended up staying up until about 0100 talking with his classmates.

THEN...............(this is a family website!! I can not write/post what happened next). :love2::worship::love::woohoo:

I have now decided that I might be able to leave my girls over night again :cheer2: with someone else. We had such a nice time, that I might be able to do that every few months or at least go out for an evening w/o the girls.

We got home about lunch and the girls were so very happy to see us both. THEN…. It was start getting ready for the weekend away. Now that is another story. I will post that fun filled weekend later.

Hi Denise :wave2:

I was out of town for the weekend so I don't have much to offer. I pretty much just picked up starting Monday morning.

It is good to see you still have your Beach ticker and your WDW ticker. I know with everything going on those trips seem to be a bit up in the air. But you have to have something to look forward to so you can get thru the difficult times.

Hmmm, let's see what I can do.

Clare's cat is having urinary problems, and we are all concerned about that.

Deb's dogs are also having some problems, so we send pixie dust their way.

Lyn survived her camping trip, but has vowed never to tent camp again.

June survived her camping trip as well, even though her cabin was invaded by spiders and carpenter ants. She laughed her way through it, and was able to have a great time!

Jen has lost all her swimsuits right before her cruise, and is not looking forward to shopping for new ones.

Becky has decided to give her notice at the group home which we all agree with. She really needs to de-stress her life. She also spent quite a bit of time making flower pots and wings for her Brownies.

Kate has been relatively quiet, but she pops in every once in a while to let us know she's ok. Nick is still not quite 100%, and she is thinking of getting him to the doctor this week. She also, rumor has it, has a doctor's appointment for her knee today.

Vicki has gone Pal Mickey crazy! She even bought a convertible for hers. We really need to stage an intervention for her!

I know that I've probably missed something, but I'm going off memory and I apologize to those that I've missed.

It's good to see you around again, Denise. How are the kids? Are they enjoying summer? What about you? How's your infection? Are you feeling better?

Nothing much went on....it's been a slow week on the thread. The highlight of last night was Vicki got one of her Pal Mickey's a remote control convertible. :lmao:

ETA: I see Glynis has given you a much better report than my sorry memory could!!

Thanks for the update. I noticed Andrew had a great couple of games and that Lindsay stopped in to say hi too. I read Glynis' update. Y'all are in my prayers and glad everyone is doing well. Hope anyone sick feels better. Oh, and good luck on the NCLEX, Jen. And have fun on the cruise.

BK had her dress rehearsal last night. She did well, and her class looked adorable. The recital is Sat. Kids had a swim b'day party today in a neighborhood where the homes start at 1.2 million (so out of our league it is hysterical). The pool complex looks like Storm Along Bay. Unbelievable. We stayed 4 hours and had so much fun. If you can't be rich, it sure is wonderful to have friends who are and share the fun with you!

Tomorrow kids have a playdate with lots of their school friends at the park. Then Friday is Rees' pre-op appt. Sat recital. Sunday my mom flies back. Monday is surgery.

Oh, and please send PD my way. I got a call this am for the preschool teaching job at my church! It's the lead teacher position for a 2 year old class. I can have my choice of 2 days a week, T-Th or M-W, or teach all 4 days. I told her I would like the 4. So I go next Wednesday at 10am for the interview. Keep your fingers crossed! It would be perfect, close to home, and at our home church. Hours are 9am-2pm, so I could get the kids on the bus and be there when the bus drops them off. And I'd still get a three day weekend every week by having Fridays off!

Everyone is doing well here. We're loving the summer vacation already. Kids have been playing outside, going to the pool. It's so hot, but wonderful if you're in the water. We go to the beach in 2 weeks, and I can't wait. I need one more swim suit, so I'll join Jen in that shopping.

Hope everyone on the DDA is doing well!

Good morning, DDAs!

Update on games for Andrew: Well, the DDA good wishes and PD came through again! Andrew had great games last week and his confidence soared!

Our team was in a three way tie for first. On Tuesday, we played one of the teams we were tied with. Andrew played well the first game, getting a couple of hits, and throwing out a couple of people from third base. We did end up losing by two runs.

The next game that night was against the same team. It was a protested game from earlier in the season. (The coach of this team is a horrible man and he threatened my brother, our coach, after that game.)

Anyway, we started in the bottom of the 7th inning, tied 6 - 6 with us at bat and our last batter with one strike against him and no outs. He ended up striking out. We went to the top of our order and that kid walked. He stole to second base. Next up was Andrew. I was so nervous that I turned around. I heard the umpire call a strike, then I heard the ball hit the bat and turned around to see it go foul. I heard the bat hit the ball again and again it went foul. All this time I was praying for a hit. Well, he was hitting the ball with the bat, but it was going foul. This is when I remembered Lynn's advice that she gets very specific during her kids games. I finally said, "God, please let Andrew have a hit out in the field that isn't caught." The next crack of the bat sent the ball flying over the second baseman's head. It sent in the winning run from second base. The game was over and we won. Woo Hoo! I'm so glad that I posted for PD and good wishes. The smile on Andrew's face was priceless at that point, and his confidence soared.

The game on Friday, we did lose, but again, Andrew played well.

Thanks again for all my DDA friends and their help with Andrew's confidence.

Last night, Jake had a very important game and they won. He had three awesome hits -- not bad for a seven year old. They each have two more games, so please keep them in your thoughts that they have fun and play well.

I'm wishing everyone :sunny: but not too hot and :wizard: for everyone who needs it!
yeah for Andrew.

Sounds like Country Club of the South or somewhere in that area. I went to a bridal shower there one time and we had a blast. We used the golf carts and rode around and the bride to be told us where all the "important people" lived.

Thanks Theresa!

I've always been too intimidated by this monster thread to post anything!

I'm just kicking myself now though for not going up to Kate and the gang!

This is what we looked like: (I should thank the photographer for having Arminda stand in front of me, and putting me at an angle. I think it took off about 20 pounds!)

welcome to our wacky world. Teresa

Actually it was the River Club in Suwanee (off Peachtree Industrial and Moore Rd). It's the new "hot" place for money. Several Braves and other pros and celebrities are building in there. It is very impressive. We had such a good time! And all the people at the pool were so nice and down to earth. Nobody was snobby at all. I really enjoyed our time today.
