The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 8

They are VERY nice people. They have 2 older girls who are in high school, so they've "been there, done that" as far as kids are concerned. They also have an in-ground pool and are always telling us to come over and swim whenever we want. I hate doing that though, because I'm always thinking 'are they saying it just to be nice or do they really mean it?' I'm weird that way.

If they are ALWAYS saying it, then they mean it. I used to do the same with the neighborhood kids and my horse. I really enjoyed having the kids around (with the parents permission of course). If the kids were polite and helped straighten things up afterwards, I loved having them anytime.

I'm sure they do, but it's my own issue that I have, like I feel like I am imposing. My dh is better about it. If he sees them out swimming he has no prob taking the kids over.

I definitely understand! As much as I love inviting others over and entertaining others, I always worry that I'm imposing on others when they do the inviting all the time. One of those, I should take my own advice situations!

Thanks everyone for the great ideas for the baby shower. It is so great to be able to come here and get all these different views on something. I really am thinking along the lines of a Welcome baby party. And requesting that guests either bring diapers, a frozen meal or a gift card. The couple have everything and if they don't they are the type to just go and get it. But I think that a little get together would make Dana happy. I talked to her husband today and he said just let me know how much money you want and I will write you a check. Same thing from Dana's mom. As long as I plan it, they will just throw money at me! I am thinking of trying to find a party room/garden room to hold the shower. My house is just not big enough. Thanks again.

They were also talking about having everyone bring a dish to freeze (they do have a big freezer) and loved the idea of a Pamper Party. She had toyed with the idea of a scrapbook party having everyone design a page with no photos so she can add photos when she takes them. She decided against it as a lot of us don't scrapbook. So I think she is going with the Pamper Party. I thought it was strange as we had just talked about this here today. It really is a small world after all.

Funny thing happened tonight. We have a waitress that is due with her 2nd child in July. Her mother, sister, husband (practically the whole family) works at the restaurant too. Her sister wants to have a party for her, but her mother doesn't believe in shower's for a second child. They were also talking about having everyone bring a dish to freeze (they do have a big freezer) and loved the idea of a Pamper Party. Tammi, I hope the Alyssa is alright. Those things happen and it is actually a good thing that Nick feels bad about it as he is learning the proper emotions. Hopefully she will feel much better in the morning.

Dh, aka Kitchensinkguy, is going to a Red Sox game tomorrow night. So if any of you get to watch the game he says he will be sitting in Right field somewhere around where it jets out His boss is taking 25 employees. They are taking a bus and the game is a 7:05 PM game. I'm guessing he should get back sometime between 2 and 3 AM so I should have plenty of time to DIS.

This came at the perfect time, I was feeling bummed beings my in-laws left for Disney again today. Come on October

I received the letter concerning Riley & ADHD & it says that he is at high risk. So I guess now I wait till we see the Dr & see what he suggest. I just Want Riley to be able to focus more. I am really worried about him taking medication & what effect it may have on him. I want him to still be his normal self if that makes any sense.

Janet -- you are a nice mom to take an extra with you! I think that is wonderful! Just lay down the rules, stick to them, and you should have a great trip.

Thanks for the update Vicki, I look forward to seeing their pictures! Glad to hear all is well with them.

I've been missing Marti & Paul as well so sent them both a pm. Marti says they have been extremely busy since the return from their trip. Paul has also started his new job. Marti hopes to get some pictures up for us over the week-end. So it sounded like other than being busy, all is well with them.

I have just updated their itinerary on post #3 of their travel thread. It took a lot of concentration to try to make sure that I didn't have anyone get the same one more than once and there was enough time between for them to get to their next destination before any planned trips.

Speaking of the Red Sox, DBF and I rented Fever Pitch with Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon this week. Have you seen it? It's darling! The special features are great. They talk about how they were filming the movie the year the Red Sox won the Series, and about how they had to scramble to add that to the movie.

I haven't seen it. I will have to rent it for dh. He never used to be a tv sports fan, but has been watching lots of baseball and of course football the last couple of years. I'm sure he'd enjoy it. I wonder what sport he'll start watching next?

Poor Alyssa. I get home from work tonight and Nicholas comes running out into the garage, before I even get out of the car, telling me he hit Alyssa in the head with the door but it was an accident. I get in the house and she is laying on the couch with and ice bag on her forehead and dried blood on her shirt and pants. She looked so sad and pathetic.

I've updated post #3 on the Pal Mickey's travel thread with all their travel plans. I also sent a pm to everyone on the list. Please review the itinerary and pm me if you find any problems. I tried to make sure that they were mailed at least a week before their next adventure started. There are several personal handoffs at a WDW mini meets and the DC meet.
