Wow, we don't start til after labor day.

We start around August 23. It's no fun for the kids, but then I remind them that they get out the end of May/beginning of June, and have a whole week off for Spring Break. It all evens out!

Anne Marie,

Your girls look adorable in their recital costumes. Brantley-Kate has her recital next Saturday.

BTW, everyone see my new signature? Can you tell I'm ready for summer and that my mood has lightened considerably?

If everything stays on course for Rees does that mean that the kid's birthday party gets to go as planned? I'm glad to see the beach trip still in your signature too! I'll bet the kids are excited!

I'm glad we added some laughter to other people's day! It sure was fun for Theresa & I. Chuck said he was enjoying listening to me laugh last night while I was on the phone with Theresa as we were planning what to say. Did I tell you I have a great husband??!!

ETA: I wonder if he'll enjoy the phone bill when it comes??!! :rotfl2:

It was at least at the lower rate time wasn't it? Cuz otherwise that would be expensive!!!

My phone was HOT when I got off of it. I have never been on a cellphone for that long.

My husband was jealous because you had me laughing so much!! :confused3

:grouphug: Poor kid. Migraines are such a hard thing. :wizard: I hope he gets better soon.

He gets them a lot during the summer months. When he gets hot and dehydrated, he gets blinding headaches. They are only relieved when he throws up. Then he'll go to sleep for about 12 hours and wake up fine. He has a hard time remembering to wear his hat, take his water bottle everywhere, and to come inside when he gets hot.

I've had to speak to his teacher this year, and have her watch him at recess, etc. I hate to be a worrywart mom, but I know how he is, and unless someone in authority makes him do what he needs to, he won't. He's got Field Day on Wednesday, and I'm a bit worried about that. I know he's going to get hot, and on top of that, he'll be running around quite a bit, which could aggravate his heart murmur. Hopefully, it will be ok. His teacher knows what to watch for, and she's good about doing it, but I worry, ya know?

Need some suggestions. My girlfriend is pregnant with her 2nd girl and her mom has asked me to throw her a shower. I did for her first and my girlfriend has thrown my bridal and 2nd baby shower.

Dana doesn't need anything big as she has kept everything from her first. And she has kept all of her clothes as well. I want to keep it simple but really don't know what to do. I am thinking along the lines asking everyone to bring a casserole or meal that can be frozen for them to use after the baby comes. My other girlfriend, Amy, thinks that is crazy as Dana will expect gifts. Now Amy has no kids and I think that after Molly came I would have much rather had dinners than all the clothes I did get. Gimme your ideas please!!

I love the dinner shower!!! That made my whole twin birth thing good. I didn't have to cook dinner for about 2 weeks. I also loved anyone who came into my house bearing diapers!

We moved the b'day party to July 8. It was June 10,and that is too close to surgery.

I CANNOT stay focused today

When I scheduled my test with so little time, I made a study schedule. I figured out that I would have to read about 150 pages of my review text a day, to get through it by this weekend (no sense in reading really in the last few days, I'm not going to retain any of that). Along with that, I'm doing 3 practice tests ranging from 100-200 questions each day, and a few more next week (in lieu of reading).

Well today, I've read 25 pages in about 4 hours! :rolleyes1 I keep getting distracted, or simply not reading. And when I DO read, I can assure you that I'm not really reading anything so much as "reading it" (eyes skimming the page, or even reading it out loud but it not making it anywhere NEAR my brain!)

I was so proud of the last few days, but today I'm losing it! :sad2: :rotfl:

Don't stress about it, Jen. If you do, you'll never get back on track. I found that one thing that helped me when I had to study like you are doing, is to put some classical music on in the background. The lack of lyrics helps you to stay focused, and the music is soothing, and helps promote a feeling of calm while you work.

Kristin asked me to let you all know that she is around & well. I sent her a pm so that we can make sure we make plans for our DDA meet in December while we are both at WDW. We are looking for a third person so that we can meet Paula's requirements for getting a pillow. Otherwise, I'll have to make sure Chuck gets a screen name and posts regularly (I'll have to find out how long that means from Paula :rotfl:). Anyone else there on 12/2 & 12/3? That is when Kristin & I overlap.

Here's the pm from her so you know what she is up to.
Vicki--If we sneak down there for a long weekend, that's when it will be (12/1-3). Nicholas' bday is the 2nd. We will have APs then, so my only requirement will be a good Ding fare from SW.

Aw man, can I come live with you?!?!? Sounds like a perfect weekend to me. I still can't figure out how to get to a baseball game this year without spending $100 for two bleacher seats or getting to the ballpark 5 hours before game time with a 3yo.

My cousins who live in MA were supposed to come down here for a Orioles/Red Sox game last year as it was cheaper then trying to get tickets for Fenway. Of course the weekend that we planned their basement flooded and they couldn't come. I do know alot of people end up coming to Baltimore when the Red Sox are in town as it is cheaper and because the O's stink you are almost guaranteed a win.

I will not be going to DC for the DDA meet. I just used my free ticket to get my mom a ticket to fly back here next Sunday for Rees' surgery. She will be staying 3 days with us to help out. Sorry I'll miss the fun, but I'm glad I hadn't booked it yet and could get it for her.

Sorry that you won't be able to make the trip to DC but family comes first and it will be great to have your mom to help out.

Ok, here's some pixiedust: that you get a good ding fare. Then we have to make sure we "discuss" our plans on the board and continue to post regularly so that we qualify for a pillowcase. :lmao: On the serious side, if you make it, let us know so that we can try and have a mini-meet.

I've already got my pillowcases so I don't think I qualify for another set, although I could defer them to someone else!

The best thing I heard was that is able now to solve problems with her classmates by herself. In the beginning of the year she would get easily upset and run to the teacher crying when she had a problem with a friend. Now she is telling them that “I don’t like it when you do that, it makes me upset and please stop” That is a big accomplishment for her!

That's really great! :goodvibes

A girl after my own heart! My iTunes has a specific playlist just for studying... Jim Brickman, Kenny G, classical, and a few Disney instrumentals thrown in -- although I usually end up singing along with those ;)

Thanks everyone for the great ideas for the baby shower. It is so great to be able to come here and get all these different views on something. I really am thinking along the lines of a Welcome baby party. And requesting that guests either bring diapers, a frozen meal or a gift card. The couple have everything and if they don't they are the type to just go and get it. But I think that a little get together would make Dana happy. I talked to her husband today and he said just let me know how much money you want and I will write you a check. Same thing from Dana's mom. As long as I plan it, they will just throw money at me! I am thinking of trying to find a party room/garden room to hold the shower. My house is just not big enough. Thanks again.

There isn't anything in Paula's "requirements" that would stop us from getting a pillowcase. You would still help Kristin & I meet our minimum members requirement. :lmao:
