I just called Denise again and talked with John her DH. He said that there has been no change in Rees' condition. However, Denise now has a sinus infection. Between the Rees issues & the sinus infection, she is wiped out. I asked if there was anything we could do and he said just to pray for Rees & the family. I let him know that we are all doing that already and will continue to do so. I also told him to let Denise know how much she and her family means to us.

I'm glad you were able to contact John. Denise seems to get one thing after the other. She just had bronchitis, now a sinus infection. She doesn't take care of herself very well, I'm afraid. She does all this running around with the kids and other responsiblities and doesn't get well herself. I hope she is getting more rest this time.

Anyone else watching/watched the Extreme Makeover finale? Oh my goodness, what a lovely episode and family!!

That is our usual Sunday night show but Chuck decided he wanted to watch The Count of Monte Cristo (even though we've seen it before). Becky & I got to watch Under the Tuscan Sun so we decided not to complain.

OK ladies you have me convinced!!! I wanna go to Disney Land!

I'm hoping you'd let me join you for more than the fact that I can get a travel agent rate at a Marriott or Disney's onsite resorts. :teeth: I've also heard a rumor that the parking lot at the Sharaton across the street from DL is the BEST spot to watch the fireworks...

Which airport do I want to fly too? Either of the two easier to get to DL from? I'm gonna have to check and see if Airtran still flys to the west...maybe Frontier?

Now you have me heading over to my Disney TA site to see whats going on over there...

I have ABOLUTLY NO plans telling ANY of you what the BIG BIG BIG SSP is. So you can beg all you want, none of you live near by nor will I be seeing any of you soon nor do any of you have my number to call me to pick on me. SO I AM NOT TELLING. How do you like them Mickey bars (how do you like them apples).

:teeth:

Whatever, I don't need to know your secrets. :rotfl2:

Just because we don't live nearby doesn't mean someone won't take a trip or do something else to find out your secret. Lots of people here love a challenge. :teeth:

:rotfl: :rotfl:

BTW: Did you remember to have someone take your picture? If so I would love to see it. :)

Hello everyone! I just wanted to thank you all so much for lending your ear and giving such wonderful encouragement as our family goes through these big changes. On Friday, we had an auction of my grandmother's things. She had 4 generations of "stuff", so needless to say, there were SO many things that had to go! Many of the things have such fond memories, it was hard to see them go. I had to just keep telling myself that they were only "things", and the special memories I have cannot be taken away and are mine forever. We did purchase a few pieces of furniture that we would like to refinish someday. She will be packing up Thursday and Friday this week, and then will be moving to Clearwater, FL. I just can't believe how fast this is all happening! We also received news of a WONDERFUL BLESSING! My parents are going to be building a new house, probably beginning in July. The house that they live in now is NOT deeded with the farm as we originally had thought, so they are able to do with it as they wish - and they offered the house to us. I still can't believe it! What a huge answer to prayer! We will just need to find some temporary housing until my parents get their house built - and worst case scenario, I'm sure that we could move in with them for a few months, if absolutely necessary. So, things are certainly looking up for us - thank you again for all of your support!!! Sending hugs to you all! :grouphug:
Shana

:grouphug: :grouphug: I'm so glad to hear this!!! I'm thrilled that things are beginning to look up!

Recipe, please!!!!!

The dinner/dance was fun! Dinner was lasagna, which was tough for me, but I scraped the meat and cheese from in between the layers, and really stocked up on salad. After dinner we had a cute show of Broadway tunes and skits, then they cleared the floor and we danced for a while to oldies from the 50's and 60's. It was really fun! I did have a few bites from desserts (which I dearly paid for later  ), but all in all it was good! I even got a new skirt and sweater for it, and when I tried the outfit on at home, the size 12 skirt was about 2 inches too big. I had to move the hook and eye. Looks like I'm not a 12 any more! Woo Hoo!!!!
I'm glad you had a great time.

Hooray for losing more weight. :cool1:

I've never been truly out west in the United States. Basically you can draw a line straight down the middle of the United States, everything east of the line I have been, everything west I have not.

Then I think it's definitely time to broaden your horizon! You must plan on coming to a DL meet!

Thanks for the update. Continued good thoughts for Reese :wizard: and hope Desise feels better soon. :grouphug:

 I could be up for either, but I am definitely all over DL. I think that it would be great for a DDA meet since there isn't quite as much to keep you running.

I knew you would be with us on this!!! I agree that since it's smaller, it's easier to make it a leisurely, relaxing trip. Perfect for us!

Glynis, good to hear that the dance went well. Was there enough dessert to go around?
Sorry the dessert didn't agree with you, and :yay: for all the weight loss.

How were the moonbeam cookies? Good enough to post the recipe? Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Count my vote for a DL meet n greet, too!

I grew up going to DL. Every August 16th on my birthday, my mom and I would go. My dad went a couple of times with us, but usually had to work. I saw Julie Andrews once there with her kids. She was wearing a big hat and big sun glasses and was across the toy bin from us. Mary Poppins was my absolute favorite growing up, and so my mom leaned over and whispered that there was Mary Poppins but I had to be very, very quiet since she was enjoying a day with her children at DL. Julie Andrews mouthed thank you to my mom and winked at me. I'll never forget it!! DL is so much more intimate than WDW, but I love them both. I've never been to DCA since they opened it after I moved away from CA.

DBF and I had a layover in LA last Thanksgiving, so we went to DL for a few hours. I'd never been on the Alice in Wonderland ride, and when I went to get off the ride, I fell smack on my face. My hands and knees broke my fall, but were all scraped up. Boy was I embarrassed. But I hopped up. Straightened my golden ears with my name on the back and trundled off for the tea cups. Afer that, we went on the Matterhorn. I'd never been on it before because the abominable snowman worried me. I screamed the whole ride and had my eyes scrinched close.

I was very proud of myself when I kept my eyes open during the EME ride last month.

Jennifer

Yay! Jennifer is in!! This is shaping up to be a really good turnout! Now if we can just all arrange schedules! Spring is a really good time to go! It's cool but not too cold, and the lines are minimal, as long as we don't hit April! My dad took my mom there in February for a Valentine's Day outing, and they loved it then!

Thanks for doing this, Vicki! It's nice to have some news. I hope she feels better soon. Doesn't it seem like it's been pretty "thin" at Denise's house the last few months. She really needs some "thick".

Hi Shana, glad to hear things are working out for you & your family :grouphug:

We love John Wayne! It's small and uncrowded and fairly close to the park. Several of the Good Neighbor hotels are closer to the parks than the Disneyland Hotel, and Paradise Pier. Grand Californian is located adjacent to DCA, but is pretty expensive.

I think we really need to start firming up a date in 2007. Paula, any ideas from you!

Welcome back! How was your trip?

Hi everyone!

Did I miss anything while I was gone??

Glad to hear the weekend turned out nice for you. We have not camped out in years. We bought a tent a couple of weeks ago & hopefully it will get more use than just sitting in the back yard for the boys to sleep in :teeth: I really want to go camping this year, something different to do & I know the boys would enjoy it.

Thanks. Friday and Saturday morning was gorgeous. However, then it took a turn for the worse. It got cold and rained off & on all afternoon yesterday. However, we had a wonderful time anyway. Chuck's brother & SIL camped next to us. The week-end was planned so that Chuck could help his brother with their new camper. It was their first trip and his brother was uncomfortable setting it all up. His SIL was happy to have us there. She told us she would have taken the truck and went home if Chuck hadn't been there to keep the peace. Two of my staff stopped by for the fire last night. It really was nice.

How were the moonbeam cookies? Good enough to post the recipe? Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There were plenty of desserts to go around this year! Most of them looked really yummy, and all but one of them were homemade! Guess people felt guilty after last year.

The moonbeam cookies were really good. Here's the recipe for anyone interested:

Moonbeam Cookies

1 tube refrigerated sugar cookie dough
1 Cup flaked coconut
1/2 Cup lemon curd (or lemon pie filling)
1/4 Cup white chocolate or vanilla chips
1 tsp. vegetable oil
Decorator's sugar

Empty dough into a bowl, and knead the coconut into it. Form 1 inch balls and place 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. Use your thumb or a spoon handle to make an indent in each cookie. Fill indent with 1/2 tsp. lemon curd or pie filling. Bake at 350 degrees for 13-16 minutes or until edges are golden brown. Let cool on a wire rack. In a microwave safe bowl, melt vanilla chips and oil for 1 to 2 minutes stirring after ever 30 seconds. When smooth, use a fork to drizzle over warm cookies. Immediately sprinkle with sugar.

I used edible glitter on them and they sparkled and were really pretty. I ended up leaving most of them home for my kids as I felt pretty guilty about making all these desserts for other people. By the time we got home, they were all gone. DH was upset as he wasn't able to get any at the dance.
