So, even though we're having an open house from 12-2 p.m. on Sunday, Remax just called and asked if someone could walk through at 9 a.m. that morning. Yay, finally someone is coming inside! :woohoo: And, that sounds like a great reason to get up early and go out to breakfast! :teeth:

I hope everyone has a great day! I'm still doing laundry and I have a bunch of cleaning to do. And, I promise Dawn, emailing you back is at the top of my list too!!!

Amy :)

Hooray! A nibble! I'll cross my fingers for a full on bite on the house! Congratulations. I think going out to breakfast is definitely a must! Let us know how it goes!

I have to ask??......what are pancake puffs??

Lynn

I got a sandwich maker for Christmas 2 years ago, and my kids love the hot ham and cheese sandwiches I make in it. About a year ago, they requested pancakes. Now, I love to eat them, but hate to make them. I can never flip them so they look good, and it just is a mess. So, I made a batch of pancake batter, and used the sandwich maker to cook them. It made them all puffy and golden brown. My kids loved them so much they now request them on a regular basis. I love that I can make them so easily. They also freeze and warm up easier than my old pancakes. The kids can also just hold them in their hands (without syrup) and munch on them for a snack. Very yummy!

Thought about video taping? (evil grin here) I know it's mean, but for the parents to just brush it off, and to a family member too!

Now, that's a great idea! I may have to do that! I do have to say that my BIL did buy Alan new tomato plants and pepper plants for the garden after the gasoline dousing. It took us all week to air out the garden, and get rid of the gasoline. Why he'll do that, but not replace my books, I just don't know! Oh well, I just don't let the kids go in the basement anymore. I just don't understand not teaching your children how to behave in someone else's home. I guess I shouldn't really be surprised. Their house is atrocious! I'm so afraid that someone will call CPS on them. The house looks like a disaster area! Piles of garbage mixed in with old food and laundry. Dirty diapers all over the place because they are too lazy to throw them away!

Feel free to vent! I used to babysit a brother and sister like this. They had no respect for anything that was in my house. Broke most of Emma's toys and one of my Snow White Collectible Plates. :furious: I didn't even get an I'm really sorry let alone an offer to repay. Their problem was they were/are so incredibly spoiled and have about 6 of each toy so to them it was no big deal if one broke as they had more to replace it.

At least you are nice enough to let them sit on your couch. I use to make them sit on a wooden fold up chair in the middle of my dining room. My great Aunt used to do this to my dad. He said it was the most frustrating thing as he couldn't even kick the walls. And it worked to as he only sat in the chair about 5 times.

I like the chair idea! I may have to try that. They are being pretty good today. Probably because I really laid into them this morning when they got here. I'll try the chair trick next!

Oh these are a must try! I have one of those machines and it only gets used to make pizza sandwiches. Emma loves pancakes but I hate making them too!

Y'all are going to think I'm such a nut but I can't stop crying. Today was Christopher's last day of Pre-K, which is bad enough in itself, but it was also his last day at this school. We loved this school and were so happy when he was accepted but made the difficult decision to move him to another school that is competitive academically, is a K-12 school (current school only goes to 5th), and has MUCH cheaper tuition once he hits 6th grade. If we turned down the spot at the new school we wouldn't have a chance of ever being accepted again so we decided to move him and at least give it a try. I thought I was OK with our decision, but I've been so sad since I picked him up. I've been trying to hold it together in front of Christopher but I started tearing up when we went through the bag of summer materials she sent home for him. He hugged me and told me it's ok. Damn pregnancy hormones! My 5 year old is handling this better than me!

Thanks for listening.

:grouphug: It's hard saying good-bye to a school, because of all the memories. Now you have a new adventure to start! :sunny: It sounds like you chose the new school for all the right reasons.

I love my sandwich maker! We make ham and cheese, pizza sandwiches, pancakes, grilled cheese sandwiches, and turnovers. Those are my kids favorites. Whenever Alan has to go out of town, I buy a loaf of cinnamon raisin bread, then butter the outside, place about a tablespoon of jam or pie filling in the center and top it with another piece of bread. It cooks about 4 minutes, and when it's done I put them on plates with a dollop of jam or pie filling on top, and dust it with powdered sugar! The kids think they are great treats to have while watching a movie. They are a bit messy, though. But worth it!

Dawn - Don't apologize about being a caring mother. It's tough to see your baby grow up. He's been comfortable at the old school and the new one is an unknown. He'll be fine, and you will be too. It's just tough to be in a new position. Take some time to cuddle with him and go through all his stuff with him.

New schools are tough Beth !! Don't worry quite a few of us will be right there with you crying for that last day of school when it happens.

Speaking of changing schools-

Has anyone ever done a party after 8th grade continuation? :confused3
My uncle (oops I forgot to invite him to the continuation :rolleyes2) asked if there was going to be a party.
First off I don't find that going from one school is another is that big of a deal so I didn't think to invite him(not very involved in the girls lives...more to do with my Grandma) but he will be coming because Grandma invited him  , But he asked if there was going to be a party, we may go out to dinner but a party? :confused3 I asked Cassidy and she said that's what Six Flags is for!! All of the 8th graders get to go to Six Flags for the official last day of school. But I am wondering if this is something I missed and am just clueless (I know I am clueless most of the time but how about for this?)

I never had a party for moving from 8th to 9th grades. As I recall, that was the year we got a McDonald's in my hometown, and we all ditched classes the last day to get fries and sundaes at McD's. Ahhh, memories.

I did have a party when I graduated from high school, though. I didn't go to California with my graduating class (didn't like enough of them to be trapped on a bus for hours with them), so I invited my friends that were a year older or a year younger to my house. We watched movies and listened to music and danced, and ate junk food all night long. I think my parents were thrilled with my decision, as they gave me a 4 week trip to Europe as a graduation present. Of course, Dad went along, but still, it was better than California with people I didn't like.

My opinion is that NO you are not clueless. After the graduation maybe going out to eat with the people that came to graduation would be good. I don't think I would worry about the graduation party until the 12th grade.

Do you know how to make word searches? A cousin is going for his 1st ever trip with us in December. I would like to have one made that will tell him he is going, but also have things about WDW too.

I'm still way behind, but I know there are a few sites that have some Disney puzzles already made.

www.themouseforless.com under "for your trip"

Also - Lou Mongello's (sp?) disney trivia site has them on there somewhere

Cassidy is getting a trip as a HS graduation gift also....Jim got one and I did too. I went to Europe by myself but I told her that it was a family trip she just gets to pick where we go!! :smooth:

Ladies, they actually make a pancake maker for that. It looks very similar to the sandwich maker, but has to round areas inside instead of the square areas. I got mine at Bon Ton a while ago on clearance for less than $5. We have one in the house and one in the camper. I rarely use it though because I like to make our pancakes Mickey shaped. :teeth:

Good thing you made the decision before the pregnancy hormones. You can think and deal much better without a pregnancy brain. I'm sure everything will be fine next year. Colby will start preschool next year and I just found out that it will be the teacher's last year. She was really hoping that Colby and Logan would go next year as she has had all the other kids and was looking forward to the last 2. Since Colby will attend for 2 years he will have a new teacher his second year. He is so ready to go to school so I'm looking forward to him being able to go. I'll probably be sad next year, but a few hours to myself 3 days a week sounds pretty darn good right now

Here we have 8th grade graduation and most families do have parties. I guess it is different everywhere though.

I hear ya! My twins start preschool in the Fall and I'm looking forward to having 2 in school full time, and 2 in school part time. The twins will be gone 2 days a week for 3 hours. Can we say, time for mom? I'm so looking forward to it!
