I do not have a green thumb!

We bought some empty planters and pot soil at Sam's last night. Does anyone have any recommendations for some relatively maintenance-free flowers to fill them up with? They'll be in the sun, if the sun decides to reappear for a while. And, I'd like something that will stay in bloom for a few weeks (is that possible?).

Thanks in advance!
Amy :)

Vinca's are good.........some have purple, pink or white flowers. They are good with heat.

I have something to tell you all, but you will have to wait for me to get back from getting Ellie. I should be back at 1245 PST.

Thanks for the birthday wishes everyone! I did have a fantasmically disney day (as Clare put it!). It apparently started pouring the minute we left and was sunny the morning we returned so maybe I did bring the sun with me. However, my powers may be limited to I can't be responsible for what happens after today since the forecast doesn't look too :sunny: .

Hi Lindsey

Hi, everybody!

It's been a long time - two weeks! I have no idea where I left off, so if anyone wants to give me an update on this little world, I would greatly appreciate it.

I am not a patient person. I am not good with surprises.

Hurry up and tell us........Lynn :)

Rees did very well with the Upper GI this morning. He got quite upset, but overall handled it extrememly well all things considered.

The Pediatric Surgeon, just called. Rees does have a Diverticula in the lower esophagus. He said it is in a very weird location (usually they are higher in the Esophagus), but isn't sure if that is causing all of Rees' problems. He also said the Fundo wrap looks very large, and it may be twisted or loose. He wants to take a close anatomical look at Rees himself. So next Thursday, May 25, Rees will go to Egleston Hospital to have another Endoscopy and an abdominal ultrasound. The surgeon will perform both tests himself. Rees will have to have general anesthesia again.

The surgeon said the surgery, if Rees needs it, is major and he would be in the hospital for at least a week. He doesn't want to do unless he has to, so we may end up trying the feeding tube route if Rees keeps losing weight.

So please pray we find a definitive answer to what is hurting Rees, that he starts eating, and maintains his current weight. We appreciate the prayers and support more than you can imagine.

And I'll be gone by then! I haven't mentioned it, but I'm horrible at having secrets kept from me. You have been driving me CRAZY!

It is very windy here today as well, but the sun is shining :sunny: Hope the weather gets better for you!

We are having psychotic weather in Cincy today!!! One minute the sun is shining...the next it's completely dark and the wind is so strong! I certainly hope a tornado isn't brewing!

Oh, Denise, I wish you'd had better news. I am definitely keeping Rees and your whole family in my prayers. :wizard:

I'm asking for prayers for my neighbor. Her 24 year old daugher passed away on the 14th from a massive stroke. She left a newborn baby boy.

Their family will be in my prayers, especially that sweet little boy. :wizard:

I know our plant selections are different from yours but trailing lantana would work well. It flowers like crazy, can take drought conditions (very important for plants in my yard ;) ), comes in lots of colors and it's easy to maintain. Vinca is another choice. Knockout roses are expensive but so worth the money and you can take it with you. These are all easy care. If I think of more I'll let you know.

I have a light pink knockout rose in a pot on our deck, an apricot/orange one that I'm going to plant by the pool and 3 dark pink/red ones in a bed in the front of my house. They never need spraying and they're very hardy. I just cut the tops when the flower dies and they bloom again.

I have lots of lantana and it flowers like crazy all summer and brings the butterflies.

So what is it, are you back yet :teeth:

Very pretty!

bethbuchall Here is a pansy that re-seeded itself from last year (or maybe even the year before). I was playing around with selective color on this one. [IMG said:

Things at work have been hectic and stressful (thus my absence from this board), but I think about each of you often, and hope all is well with everyone.

Belatedly, I hope those going on the DDA trip have a FABULOUS time!

Here's some :cheer2: :wizard: :grouphug: for everyone in need this morning.

Lindsay
Hi Lindsay! I was really hoping things had settled down at work for you. I hope you'll still be able to take your trip! Good luck!

You all are so sweet...I really appreciate the recommendations and pictures!

Of course, I'll be passing all this info off on Kevin. This is his project to make the front of the house look pretty for Sunday's open house. :thumbsup2

Amy :)

Denise I pray that you get the answers needed to help Rees get better. Prayers & :wizard: for Rees & your family.

I think we have to wait another hour. :teeth:

Though, I have a feeling she's revealing the SSP that I actually knew about, but it's Paula's surprise and there's no way I'm spilling the beans!
