Well, Nicholas was supposed to have a soccer game at 830 this morning. I get up at 7 and call the cancellation line, because it is supposed to rain and storm here all day, but is not at the moment. None. So John and I get showered and ready. I call again before waking the kids. Still no cancellations. Get them up, fed, dressed. I pack water/snacks. Call again. Still none. Load up the car and head to the field. Guess what!! Just as we were pulling in they were locking the gates. They canceled the game 15 minutes before start time. I was soooo mad. And it still WASNT RAINING! My thoughts on this is everyone that had an 830 game was already on the road so you might as well play, and if it starts raining, then call the game. So when we got home I called Parks and Rec to find out who was in charge of cancelations. I will be sure to give her a call on Monday and let her know my thoughts.
Sorry for the rant. I needed to let off some steam.
Tammi,
I am so sorry that happened. I do know from the calls we get and then after talking to the person in charge that it is sometimes so very frustrating when making the decision to cancel. But I agree that there has to be a time limit when checking the cancel line that the game is played or not. But on the other side, it is hard to get the newest message in the system and wondering whether everyone hears it. If after the game starts, the rain gets bad or there is a threat of lightening, then it should be=== EVERYBODY OFF THE FIELD.
