Steve asked me today if I ever have non-Disney thoughts

I wasn't sure how to answer him!!

John says Disney is all I talk and think about too. So sorry... not!

OK, I actually need help with something. I have not been to a funeral since my Dad died 14 years ago. Add to that the fact that I have recently lost 35 pounds. Is it appropriate to wear slacks to a funeral? I am talking good quality, lined dress slacks. Is it more correct to wear a dress? Should it be black? I think I am going to have to find time in the next day or so to go buy something and I want to make certain I don't spend money foolishly and buy something I can't wear any other time. Thanks for your help.

I wore a dark blue pant suit for my fathers funeral. It was one of my business pant suits. For my family & circle of friends, a nice pair of quality, lined slacks is definitely appropriate. My father would not have been happy with me if he knew I'd bought anything that wasn't something I'd wear regularly. He also didn't like the idea of black. He would have wanted us to celebrate his life not mourn his death which is what we did.

It is going to be a long day and you need to do what you think is best but also be comfortable.

Okay, I hope this idea doesn't make me a bad person, but get your dr. to write you a note for a wheelchair-- or whatever a person needs to rent a wheelchair at WDW.

I'm not advocating that you use it at every park, but for AK which is all walking and totally exhausting it could be useful. Plus, you could get to the front of the EE line. And the other ladies could be with you.

Is that terrible of me to suggest?

Jennifer

Jennifer and anyone else,

Actually you don't need a doctor's note to rent a wheelchair and it DOES NOT give you front of line privileges. The only FOL passes they give are for kids on Wish trips. You can go to Guest Relations and get a Guest Assistance Card (GAC) which is what we used for Rees. Just explain your issues, and then they will give you a GAC card with the appropriate stamps on it for your needs. It is all based on needs, not a diagnosis. For instance, 2 children with Autism might have completely different needs even though they have the same diagnosis.

Just a little info I've learned with Rees and over on the DISability board.

Elin - I'm sure someone already answered this but I think slacks are more than suitable and as to whether your outfit is black or not, go with what's in your heart.

I only say this because I chose to wear a pink top to my nan's funeral as I wanted to remember the happy times, when I got to the house before everyone else was wearing black so I changed. My grandad had been in a bad way since she died and hadn't really spoken clearly to anyone - anyway I walked back into the room and he looked right at me and said - why have you taken off that pretty top? Go put it back on. So I wore pink to my Nan's funeral, and when the sad day came that we buried my grandad I made sure I bought a new pink top to wear.

That's a sweet story, Clare. And good for you being the happy punch of color that everyone needs!

This might be a good thing as Blackie, our cockapoo, helped himself to some Easter candy while we slept so I want to keep an eye on him. He tried a lot of things, Peeps, jelly beans, malted milk balls, and chocolate.

Chocolate is poisonous to dogs. You might want to take him to the vet. When I was growing up, my cocker spaniel once ate a 1-lb box of chocolate by herself. We took the wait and see approach, but when she couldn't sit still on the couch and kept going outside to go potty, we called the vet. He said we should have brought her in earlier so he could have pumped her stomach. You might want to give your vet a call. Can you tell how much chocolate he ate?

You need VHS right? It's still associated with eBay, but www.half.com has some copies. A new, in shrink wrap, copy is about $6, plus shipping. I have successfully purchased from half.com sellers on many occassions.

Thanks! Yes, I broke the VHS copy. I'd like DVD, but those are really expensive since it's "in the Vault" again. Off to check now.

Most of you who have been on here for a while and especially the past few months will probably remember that my Mom has been steadily declining in health. Well, tonight she died. It was not really unexpected nor sudden, but it hurts, nonetheless. Bob and I were going to PA to visit her and his parents this coming Friday. I guess we will be going sooner now. Please keep my brother in Boston and my sister in Allentown in your thoughts as we all all be traveling at some time this week.

I am so sorry to hear this Elin you will be in my thoughts and prayers. Have a safe trip to PA.

Becky

Denise, Sounds like a great Easter. I love those Mom moments, too. Totally makes up for the times when you feel like this

Emma is off school today. We had planned on spending the day outside but the weather is not cooperating. This might be a good thing as Blackie, our cockapoo, helped himself to some Easter candy while we slept so I want to keep an eye on him. He tried a lot of things, Peeps, jelly beans, malted milk balls, and chocolate. So we are having a movie day, Disney style. So far this morning we have watched Dumbo and are now watching Chicken Little.

I agree!

Sounds like you're having a wonderfully-relaxed day. Enjoy just cuddling and some down time. And I hope Blackie doesn't get sick.

Denise,

I have a copy on VHS, slightly used, that you are more than welcome to. The only other thing I could think of, bedsides Ebay, is maybe in the previously viewed section of Blockbuster.

That is very sweet of you to offer. I'm hoping I can find a DVD. Blockbuster is a good idea!

Do you know where she got it? Did she have it custom made?

Her sister worked for the Disney store prior to it being sold - and she said she got it from there. The neat thing was that inbetween each button there was a colorful Easter egg... a really nice shirt.

We had a great day yesterday too. We felt we had been going overboard with the baskets the last few years so we simplified this year. MUCH better! Christopher was crazy about everything in his basket and after he finished looking in it said he wanted to make an announcement. Then he thanked the Easter bunny. The Easter Bunny hit a home run with the Teen Titans DVD. Christopher and Brian watched it for a while yesterday morning while I did some cleaning. Sad, I know on Easter but I was behind from being sick.

We did not go to church yesterday :(. We haven't been in quite some time, actually. We haven't really found a church that we feel comfortable in. The one we're members in is very large and sort of hard to get involved in. It's also far away. We don't have any Presbyterian churches in our area either. Anyway, my goal for next Easter is to be settled in a church.

For lunch we went to my inlaws and had boiled shrimp, corn on the cob, potatoes, mushrooms, salad, sausage, Boudin Balls, bread, Peep cupcakes and Strawberry Daiquiri cake. We had a really nice time. There were some close family members there as well. Lots of nice conversation and Christopher spent hours chasing after his older cousin and hunting Easter eggs. He was dirty and sweaty when we left :)

Today I have to finish cleaning and get back to decluttering. I've been slowly doing this since December! Christopher's out of school this week so I'm letting him be lazy today, but I've got to plan some fun things for the rest of the week.

I hope everyone has a great day!

You are making me so hungry with that lunch description. Sounds like you had a great Easter. Good luck finding a church. Sometimes it is really hard to find a fit.

It sounds like everyone had a wonderful Easter. We did too, and I will post some pictures when we get home. I feel so out of touch with you all since I am not on here regularly to chat. Hopefully that will change in a day or two. I miss everyone!

Good morning, Tammi. Glad you had a good Easter too!

Ohhhhh!! dear....that sounds painful. We are Colorado Rockies fans here...Todd Helton is my favorite player. The team is so young it is often called Todd and the toddlers!!

While we are on baseballl....I am sneaky :teeth: .....Abi will be singing(with her school's choir) America the Beautiful before the Rockies game tomorrow night! She got a special invitation as she is not in choir this semester. I sang in a choir last year the anthem but I think I am more excited about Abi singing at a baseball game!!

That's exciting! It's so much fun singing at ballgames in those big stadiums!

Go Abi! :cheer2:

Sometimes what I think sounds funny in my head doesn't always come across that way! DH is always telling me to think before I type. Guess I should do that more.

It came across exactly the way you intended. I think we all understand your sense of humor since most of us share it. I don't think you have anything to worry about!!!!!
