The DDA Trouble Free Zone Part 5

I just heard on the news of another tragic death on Mission: Space, a 49 year old woman. Prayers for comfort to her family.

Hello! I just thought I would share a bit about myself. We live in State College, PA - home of the Penn State Nittany Lions. I became a SAHM after I had a high-risk pregnancy and had to be stay off my feet for the majority of the 9 months. But I gave birth to a healthy, happy baby boy, Jayden (we usually just call him Jay), who is now 19 months. Prior to that, I taught at a private Pre-Kindergarten program for 11 years. I also have a DS7, Dillon and wonderful husband, Jess (who LOVES John Deere tractors!!!) I am currently home-schooling Dillon (1st grade) and am really enjoying it. Are there any other home-schooling families among the DA's??? I am also very involved at our church - I teach Sunday School, a mid-week program for kids, music ministry (pianist), and Vacation Bible School director. And that pretty much takes up all of my time (and energy)! I adore children, and as you can see, most of my time is spent with them throughout the week. So I am really looking forward to becoming part of the DDA family and having more contact with the grown-up world! Can't wait to get to know each of you better as well!

Thanks for letting u sknow more about you, Shana. We have a lot in common I am originally from Punxsutawney, PA. DH went to Penn State. I am a pianist too. I teach piano, composition, voice and music theory.

Since I have had a few PMs lately asking me about my screen name, I till tell you all together on this thread. My DH came up with the name as an abbreviation for the pianoforte, one of the original names for that instrument. I have been using PNO4TE for about 15 years now, not just on the DIS.

I turned 18 2 weeks before going to college....had to get my mom to send a letter to say it was okay for me to move off campus(I was getting married...lol) when I was 19.

Which of course was going on 15 years ago!! I can not imagine letting my girls get married so young....but I didn't listen to reason very well...not that my mom gave me grief. So tommorow....I will have been married 15 years....even though he has frustrated me the most the last couple of days. Always seems to happen around our anniversary.....geesh.

And yet another Clare-ism. We say "getting crossed eyes." I love it!

Clare - I was in a relationship once where he told me 3 times that he needed space to figure out if he really loved me -

the third time I told his *** to take a hike - if he truly loved me - he wouldn't need to figure it out!! My head was very strong but my heart was broken - luckily a wonderful man healed it!!

I know this is not ALWAYS the case but I made up my mind then and there I would never be with another man who told me he had to try to figure out whether or not he loved me - either you do or you don't - and to marry me it had better be passionately enough that you have no doubt!!!

I got the Techno XT for 164.99 from Allbee Baby. It is rated to 55 lbs. I don't know about completely one handed, but you use your feet to release the 2 levers then push it forward to fold and it locks automatically. It is VERY easy and weighs about 12 lbs. I love it!!

Thanks, Kristin. I can't believe that I am contemplating another stroller, but we will be going on two trips in the next year and the rentals alone would pay for a Maclaren, plus the home use. Of course, if we leave Boston in the next six months then we won't use it at home near as much. Oh, the decisions!

Amy and Tia --

Yes, clouds and cheerleading. Bengals more specifically, for a few reasons. First, my known connection to cheering (participating, coaching, etc). But I also went through the whole Bengal audition process ( ) 2 years ago only to be unable to do it because of my wedding and honeymoon (making me miss too many meetings and practices). I'm not a huge fan of them (the cheerleaders that is, I like the team) but it was my high school dream to be a Raiderette (Oakland) so that was as close as I can get living hundreds of miles away from California!

As for the clouds, it's because i love flying. And the (full-size) picture is one of my favorites I've taken.

I figured some of the pictures would be more self-explantory than the others, but I had a heck of a time coming up with 8 things that described me or that I liked, that also fit decently in the letters!

I hope you don't mind if I share this with you all, but it was a nice "mommy moment" after a long day at work.

Let me set it up: Nicholas showers in our bathroom, since he can do it himself now, while Alyssa is bathed in their bathroom. The other day they got those tub crayons and paints, and have been being little artists during bathtime. So, I didn't get home until around 8:30 tonight, as I had to do some errands after work. As I walk into my bathroom, I am looking right at my shower, and this is what I see:

That is SO sweet!! How cute is he!

Can I just tell the DVC owners here, that I am SO glad you aren't like the majority of posters I see lately on the DVC boards. Sheesh! Talk about a turn-off!

I think I'll stick to asking you all my questions. (And no, nobody said anything to me personally, so no need to hunt down a particular post or anything ... I just can't get over the general tone of those boards!)

I had the same problem with those boards. Not a very Disney place IMO.

We have the triumph and it is rated to 55 lbs. Hunter was 47" tall and 47 lbs last trip and we bought it for him due to his feet issues. He fit in it fine and it pushed easily, even one handed. And yes, I can fold it with one hand. I wish I had bought a MAC as the first stroller I ever bought. I've owned at least 6 strollers and this one is hands down the best.

Oh man I think that you may have sold me! I don't know if I can talk myself into $150+, but $100 I could probably handle. The boy I saw in the picture was the size of Hunter according to the mom's description, but I was just afraid that she had the wrong name since I keep seeing 40 on the specs various places. And good one handed pushing...that's even better. I like to push from one side and walk sort of next to Terra so we can talk some since it's just the two of us.

Well, what are you waiting for, girl! Let's get a trip planned! Paula and I could show you around. I've done DL itineraries for Lindsay and for Kate. I'd love to help you out, too. I tell you, next year we need to plan a DDA meet in DL so you all can come see Walt's park!

I'd be there! Any excuse to visit my best friend, meet some DDAs and oh yeah, see the inlaws to. I'm still holding out hope to get out there for Mother's Day weekend, plus I'd get to spend my 30th in DL, but the plane fares just aren't cooperating.

The Imagineering Field Guide to Epcot is slated for release 06/2006! Now, there's a possibility it won't come out until months later, if the MK one was any indication but Amazon and Overstock have it available for preorder now!

Oh cool! I really want to read that one. The MK one was good, but I felt like I knew so much of it having lived by DL for awhile and the fact that you most often hear MK trivia. Epcot should be pretty cool.

Shana -- welcome. My DS7 is crazy for John Deere tractors. My BIL let us borrow the small John Deere he made for his two sons. I'll try to find a picture to post of Jake in the July 4th parade last year. He and his brother rode on it (with one of them in a small little trailor) and had a great time.
