Do any of you Southwest experts know how last minute I can cancel a trip and still get a credit for the whole fare?

I have confidence in you! :)

Not at all.

Calling all cooks. ;)

Say I want to have a small get together (about 20 people) and since its winter it needs to be inside. I don't want to serve anything to busy or heavy. Would just Hors D'Oeuvres be enough?

If so what would you serve? have any recipes?

Sure! That will be fun! Just one deck?

I think one will be great....I found a DOGS deck for Abi, a Word Card game for myself and Toss Up for Jim...just need a deck for Cassidy's stocking. :goodvibes

horsey dervies would be fine I think (espescially if it is in the middle of the afternoon or not usual dining hours).

Cheese/Cheeseballs & Crackers

Jimmy Dean Lil Sausages in BBQ Sauce

Queso and Chips and/or a seven layer dip

Veggie Trays

these are all favorites of ours

potato skins

egg rolls

(can be bought frozen and heated for the party)

Could I please get an honest opinion from you all....

I just got off the phone with DXH2B. We talked about Christmas. He said he was finally willing to agree (this means permanently, not just this year) that I can have the kids for the first part of Christmas day. His request, though, is that he has them Christmas Eve and brings them home around 9 PM. Then he gets them around 1 PM Christmas Day. Yes, more than anything, I want to see their faces in the morning when they come down the steps and see what Santa left. However, this will only happen for a few more years, when it just becomes presents from Mom. Now I'm thinking that with only having them from when they get up Christmas morning, maybe around 7, until 1, is ripping myself off. When do I get to have a big Christmas meal? Not Christmas Eve, not Christmas day. Would I be happy only having breakfast with them? Or should I say this is a good plan but lets swap every year? WWYD???? Help me to see the big picture.

Personally, I think you are ripping yourself off with this one. If you are even considering this, I'd suggest every other year. There is more to Christmas than just opening the presents in the morning when they get older. It's about spending time together and only 5 or 6 hours isn't much time between Christmas Eve & Christmas. In a couple more years, having them open the presents when they get home at 1pm would be the same as having them open them in the morning.

how fancy do you want to be?

what about making breakfast the big meal that day instead of lunch? that would be a fun tradition to start.

Great list Theresa! I will add sweet & sour meatballs or swedish meatballs.

Tammi,
I would have to agree that you are ripping yourself off if you agree to a permanent arrangement whereby you have the kids Christmas morning til 1pm. JMHO but every other year would probably be in your best interest so you can spend more time with the kids. Vicki is right, when they get older opening gifts at 1pm will be the same as when they wake up.

I am sorry you have to deal with this...there is no "easy" solution, but the more flexible you keep it the better for you & the kids.

I did 18 loads of laundry today........

Now the house seems too quiet with the washer & dryer off.

hey everyone. hope everyones thanksgiving was good. mine was freezing. saw my grandmother who doesnt look very good. she is in a rehab facility but will probably have to goto a nursing home after this. as of now my surgery is wednesday at 8 am. i am getting nervous because i hate being put under so i am trying to keep my mind busy so i dont think about it.

jen i am sorry to hear of your loss.

tom if you get butterscotch for leighanna remember to open and assemble out of eye sight because the horse is decapitated before assembled. :lmao: found that out on amazon.

Not sure if you got an answer yet, Tammi--but i know firehouses and police stations take them--they give them to kids after accidents ,etc...Also, chek a hospital maybe

Jen, I'm so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to lose a grandparent. You are in my prayers.
